I'd go back in time to just before Pompeii got covered in volcano dust and evacuate the city to save everyone!
And then I would go to the ancient Mayan civilization and watch one of their human sacrifices. Especially when they take out the guys heart. Fun stuff ^^

I would a) kill hitler - he doesn't deserve capitals!
b) maybe try and go back in time to warn people of 9/11 and other disasters but then i'd be locked in the looney bin...
c) go back in time and;;re-wind;;re-read history books of exact location gold was discovered;;travel and discover gold;;take gold
d) buy lots of land in florida and california
e) murder my dad
f) capture cavemen and put them on geiko commercials;;trey funny
g) re-write the alphabet

I would a) kill hitler - he doesn't deserve capitals! You do realize that if he hadn't come along, the economy of the whole of Eruope would be non-existant? He was man of the year in Time magazine just before the war started because he brought Germany out of a depression. A loaf of bread in Germany would cost $20 (American money, duh) or more. Yes, he did horrid things. But he did some good also. Moving on! I would protect Archduke Franz Ferdinand so we wouldn't have WWI, and therefore no WWII. |

Yes of course.  Now I and my strict orthodox Jewish family upbringing will take my leave a bit insulted. "The Weimar Republic was not successful for a number of reasons. Perhaps the most formidable reason was that the fledgling republic was a political experiment for a country that had only known the reign of Kaisers for much of its recent history. While the end of WWI brought a hunger for freedom and peace, Germany was fractioned into sometimes warring, sometimes disinterested parties with varying agendas. A Republic form of government was a noble concept, but not one with a viable paradigm. The weak republic wavered between reversions to former military sovereignty and emerging concepts of democracy. The times were not conducive to an emerging republic: economic problems, threatening national bankruptcy, unemployment and social unrest all lead to the failure. With over 30 parties near the end of the Republic, German citizens responded positively to Hitler's call to fervent nationalism, law and order, and a return to the tradition moral sense of the Fatherland. The National Socialist Party under Hitler preached a distorted gospel of social stability, not hinting at the sinister agenda pending in their planning rooms. Germans wanted to feel like a strong nation again after the defeat of the Great War. Germans wanted to prosper and live safely. Before it was known that Hitler had grandiose and destructive plans for Germany, his agenda sounded not unlike many conservative agendas in the United States and Europe today. They were willing to tolerated his 'eccentricities' and intolerances/bigotries in exchange for prosperity and certainty. As Hitler made concessions and 'deals' even with opposing parties, the marginal person who was once considered deranged and dangerous went from obscurity to being both chancellor and president. That's okay Thorn. Sorry I'm a bit close minded since I lost grandparents and great-grandparents in camps and my mom's parents survived camps.
Maybe, I shudder to wonder what cults would ... never mind. I'm stopping right there. I don't want to imagine neo nazi's bowing to a disembodied floating head in a fish bowl.

For all the bad done, you have to admit that he did do some good.
As for the camps, at least the Jewish were remembered and given a chance. People like me would have been castrated, starved, beaten, murdered, and forced to “conform.” In addition, after release from the prison camps, gays were sent back into them to serve the “rest of their term.” There is one memorial for us. It’s a triangle on a wall. We have a little foot-note in the tolerance museums, and hardly noted at all in history text books.
Yes, we only made up 1% of the casualties, raped with wood, hair and finger/toe-nails ripped off, and mangled by dogs. During, and after, the holocaust.
Can we now please move on?
If I had a time machine I’d go back to the opening night of Phantom, and get a ballot so I could sell it for good money.

Sure we can move onwards, but I won't admit he did any good at all. I also won't believe the Jewish people were given a 'chance' because at the beginning the weak and mothers and children were sent off to gas showers nude to die, not really a chance dear. And I'm truly sorry about everyone who was put in those camps. But you can't really compare what would have happened to you and what has happened to my blood relatives by blood, marriage and friendship by association. I am also sorry about lack of memorial but if you ask me for one memorial for the people who lost, I really couldn't name a thing.
I too would really like to move on, I suppose LT could always make a Debate thread but I don't think I'd join in because it's pointless. What has happened has happened and I could never forget and talking about it doesn't make it go away. Moving onwards...
I forgot to add that I'd like to go about and work for like old money and then in present day I could sell it to collectors who would find the money in perfect condition.

You probably did. If I had a time machine I would go to the Civil War and stuff. Wear those weird ass dresses the woman wore. Just not those corsets that they used to keep themselves thin. |
