does it seem like I'm looking for an answer to a question I can't ask
all the voices that are spinnin' around me trying to tell me what to say

he said, his voice echoing in the cave slightly. The fire crackled slightly and a deposit of sap snapped, making Audrey turn her gaze toward the licking flames, watching as an ember flew up into the air, then floated slowly to the ground, fizzling out after a second. Audrey nodded her head, and as if the thought of getting sleep was a cue, she opened her mouth in a wide yawn. It wasn’t until she was done that she spoke again. “Yeah. . . I suppose you’re right. I don’t have, like, any sense of time though right no. . . left my phone at the hotel. . . ,” she muttered more to herself than to Jazper. She watched him stand up and walk toward the back of the cave and started to undress. Looking away, Audrey tried to decide what she was going to do for sleeping. Shifting seemed like a better idea, and it appeared to be the same thing Jazper thought.
Audrey could hear his hooves clopping against the stone, and she looked over her shoulder to see the large horse settle in on the ground. Audrey tilted her head to the side and smiled. “I thought you didn’t like sleeping in your furry form?” she commented with a smile, teasing him more than anything. She sat back slightly and turned her back to the horse, pulling the snaps apart on the trench coat before pulling her arms from the holes. She didn’t remove it completely, just let it sit on her shoulders. At least they could still communicate through their minds. Her body contorted and Audrey let out a sharp cry of pain that turned into a yowl and she was on her fours, her shoulders heaving with the effort. Shifting back was always easier for Audrey. With the trench coat still over her shoulders like some sort of blanket, she lied herself down and curled up, heaving a sigh as she settled in. That fire feels good on my fur. I'm such a cat, she commented.
