Oh, this had to be a joke. Seriously. Jay’s pitch-black eyes first widened and then narrowed at the woman’s reaction. Who did she think she was fooling? Admittedly it was a good act, but no one went from smart to ditz like that. What, did she think Jay had really hit his head and was therefore too confused to connect the dots? Besides, now he was thinking he had seen her before, somewhere. Could be. Just briefly, probably, but he had a good memory when it came to faces. He would have to think about that, but first he needed to clear up something else.
For a moment, he was quiet, trying to work out a maneuver to answer Rayne’s reaction, until he suddenly just snapped. Oh, screw it, he wouldn’t dance around anymore, he hated doing that anyway. “All right, that’s it. Cut that out,” he said, eyes narrowed and crossing arms over his chest, unconsciously looking like a malevolent fairy, with his curly hair sticking up, and the pale, narrow face and long nose pinched with annoyance.
“I want to know what you are,” he said, lowly. “I know you and the wolf from before have a connection. There is no way it could have suddenly disappeared like that. So tell me. Are you a…” He grimaced, certainly not happy with himself to be saying this, (It was ridiculous! Absolutely! Normal people didn't meet mythical creatures, it was just...) but that was the only word he knew that could be used to describe it. “A werewolf?” he spat out, finally.

The black haired beauty froze, paling even further, if possible. It was strange being on the offense to a human, but that had managed to prove one thing, he was not a hunter. And he was a whole bunch sharper then she'd originally given him credit for. The scent of chemicals though was now covered by what could only be described as pure anger. Blinking, she tilted her head, letting the full impact of the words set in. He seriously thought she was a werewolf, and he was right... but not that she could let him know that. She inhaled sharply, taking a step back before she burst into laughter, her laughter was soft and tinkling, almost like bells. She flushed and turned a light pink she was laughing so hard, "No, no, don't be ridiculous. I often stay near here... working, the dog is a half wolf, she guards the area when I'm working. She's a pet." Now she was lying her ass off, but it was something that was going to keep her out of trouble. Hopefully he would believe it, though if he lashed out, as it seemed he was dangerously close to losing his temper, she'd probably scare the crap out of him.[/ul]

“A pet,” Jay said blandly. He pondered this for a moment. No, he still didn’t feel like trusting the woman. Never mind the fact that he didn’t trust anyone, this was special kind of distrust. This was personal. It was almost like he liked the woman, only, he didn't. “Still not quite believing you, here. You try to explain too much. The animal is gone, and unless I see it again, I’m not buying this. How about telling the truth?” He said blithely.
Of course, there might be a chance the woman was telling the truth and Jay was making a complete fool of himself. Of course. But when there hasn’t been, he asked himself, with touch of bitterness, which he banished sternly. He was not a skinny teenager anymore, sulking because his father was a madman and his mother was gone, and most of the school saw him as the moody weirdo Bangs kid. He was a skinny, grumpy grown-up now, and probably much happier he had been ever before. In his own way. He didn't care if he seemed weird anymore, because he knew he was. And goddamnit, he was going to bring some light to this thing if it was the last thing he did.
“Look,” Jay said, much calmer than he felt. “I don’t actually- Okay, look, I don’t actually care if you are a goddamn... were-vampire or something. I just want to know. Otherwise it’ll bother me.”

Araynia heaved a slightly annoyed sigh as she listened silently, leaning against the tree that she'd backed up to, sliding down the tree. She leaned her head back, black hair falling in waves down her back, pale skin glistening in the moonlight. Sometimes it was hard to believe that she was a werewolf, as pale as she was. Glowering at the male, she managed to look irritated beyond all reason, a low growl resonating from her, "I am not a vampire." She'd clarify that bit first, nothing could be more offensive to a werewolf then being compared to a vampire. "Goddess be damned, you humans are much more perceptive than you once were. What ever happened to people having the fear of god put into them by the mere thought of the creatures of the night?" Running a hand through her hair, she glanced at the boy, silver eyes glistening with a razor sharp edge of anger. Apparently she was more shallow than she thought, that would need some work later. Crossing her arms she remained sitting cross-legged on the ground, black shirts around her. Still glowering at him, she sat there thinking through things, technically she hadn't admitted to anything yet... "I suppose I should give you credit where it's due... I'll give you this at least, my real name is Araynia Amaya Selina, though I'm called Rayne mostly."[/ul]

She was growling, there was no other word for it. Growling like an angry animal. Jay hesitated, but didn’t budge, keeping his arms crossed over his chest and half-glaring at the woman calmly. Apparently she didn’t take well about Jay’s comment on vampires. Huh. It’s not like he had meant anything by it, it was just something he’d said. His mouth quirked, not quite smirking dryly, as he gazed at the mysterious Rayne evenly.
“I don’t think it really took too much out of me, to figure it out,” he said softly, raising eyebrow wryly, almost amused by the woman’s annoyance. He supposed he was a bit of a sadist, deep down. “And as for fearlessness…most humans are cowards, which is just healthy. I just happen to have had… rather unorthodox upbringing. Ahh, one could call it shock treatment.” Well, there had been this one time his father had sent him up on the roof when he was seven, with lighting rod, right before big storm, so he could catch a lighting that would be used to animate a corpse. Thankfully his mother had managed to talk his father out of it before the storm really hit.
The woman, still radiating irritation, sat on the ground and glared at Jay. Jay, who seemed to get calmer the more he aggravated his conversation partner, gazed back almost serenely. She seemed angry, which probably meant he was getting somewhere, here. He blinked when she suddenly introduced herself, again. “Ahh. Um. Well, nice to meet you again, Araynia Amaya Selina. You already know my name, I believe. Now, I want to hear it from you, straight. Are you a werewolf or not?” What, did she think Jay was going to give up?

. Letting her head fall back revealing a slender neck, and a chain that hung down, a small crescent moon hanging off the delicate chain. He was managing to keep his cool now and she was about ready to rip his throat out. A dangerous emotion for any werewolf to have towards a human. Re-arranging her skirts about her, she leaned forward again listening as he spoke, I don’t think it really took too much out of me, to figure it out. And as for fearlessness…most humans are cowards, which is just healthy. I just happen to have had… rather unorthodox upbringing. Ahh, one could call it shock treatment."In my world we call that a death wish, it's as if you want to get caught up in a world that could mean death for you," she spoke this with irritation. Now why had she refused that job tonight? It had been a simple enough job, and she'd wanted to take a night off... why? It would have been more fun than dealing with this, who needed troublesome humans who intruded on poor innocent werewolf's lives. Ahh. Um. Well, nice to meet you again, Araynia Amaya Selina. You already know my name, I believe. Now, I want to hear it from you, straight. Are you a werewolf or not? "Fine, you think your all big and brave enough to handle my world, why not? Yes I'm a goddess damned werewolf. Happy now? But that isn't what makes me so dangerous, you shouldn't know about me. I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake. Should have just let you be," the girl's voice trailed off as she muttered profanities under her breathe, a scowl still in place. Pulling out her dagger from its position on her ankle, she toyed with in, half irritably half thoughtfully. Slim fingers traced the rose that was engraved into the handle, the blood red rose contrasted the black handle, it was her symbol surprisingly, the mark she left. A rain drop was too cliqued, though she did have it tattooed under her left eye. Sighing, silver eyes found their way back to Jay.[/ul]
