ANASTASIA KIRILOVNA MARISOVA → IT'S HARD TO SEE THE PAIN BEHIND THE MASK BEARING THE BURDENSHE STANDS HARD AS A STONE IN A WORLD THAT SHE CAN'T RISE ABOVE ← She could almost feel his scrutiny, but she just looked straight ahead and a little down so she was staring a few feet up from the wall. However, his mention of a trip made her pull out of that demeanor and turn her head to look at him, confusion written on her face. “Trip?” she repeated, her head cocked slightly to the side. She hadn’t been aware that this relationship they had—whatever kind it was—would require her to travel somewhere. Where would they go? Why were they going, anyway? She was too afraid to ask these questions though and figured that eventually she was going to find out.
Anastasia shook her head and hugged her knees tighter to her chest, turning her attention back on the wall as the tiger travelled back into the kitchen to grab probably another beer. Return to her vampires? First they weren’t her vampires. Second, for what reason did she have to go back to them? Sure, it was cushy there. She was safe for the most part. She had a stocked fridge and it was a little on the outskirts of New York, so she was just a drive away from whatever she needed, but what was she doing there? Sitting around and moping and feeling sorry for herself. She was tired of that. At the moment she was under some false pretense that if she started trying to change and let this tiger recondition her, she could just return back if it didn’t work out in the end. As if she could say “well, I tried,” and then just go back to the way it was and maybe try something different.
“I don’t want to go back right now. There’s nothing there but fake friends and an empty building. . . ,” she replied quietly. Did that really justify going with this guy? Maybe she was just bored and needed something to do and was willing to let this guy entertain her in any way possible. But of course, her compulsive habit of surrounding herself with strong friends—or acquaintances, even—dictated that she hang out with Aleksei as long as she could. Maybe even make him like her so she would have someone like Urjasz—or even Daktari, before he became overly abusive—that would be there for her. It was a habit, an impulse.
The tiger came to sit on the couch and Anastasia unconsciously moved into the corner to give him more space. He asked her about some sort of mountains between sips of his beer, and Anastasia shook her head. “I haven’t. . . . Are they far away? What. . . uh. . . why are we going there?” she asked cautiously, hoping that he wouldn’t reprimand her for asking the question in the first place. She was a little nervous about knowing the answer, but she felt that if she knew she would have at least a little bit of time to prepare herself for whatever it was. She fidgeted slightly in her seat, pulling the large shirt a little further down over her legs: she was getting chilly.

Alek listened to her retort without much care. He had a particular distaste for vampires especially. After all they were they ones that killed Nikolai. He didn't feel one way or another about weres. He only hunted them because it was what Nikolai had asked of him while he was still alive. If Ana had been a vampire; no matter how docile she'd have been long dead by his hands. Luckily her journey into this world had been at the hands of a were rather than a blood sucker. "The white mountains aren't far from here hence why I chose them. New Hampshire... ever been there?" he asked not really caring about her answer.
Alek had been there a few times he'd once roamed the forest there for two months living off of only what nature provided. Hunting for his food etc. This was how he planned to change this girl. More importantly it would be harder for her. Hyenas after all aren't suited to forest life like tigers or wolves. The hardship would be good for her. Whenever she returned to the snug city scene she will be well equipped to take care of herself.

Alek pondered her question for a moment. It made sense however there was no where that was open this late. Of course she could just go to the mansion and get something to wear. He figured they could buy some stuff on the way. Alek walked over to the computer desk and opened one of the drawers. He removed a stack of hundreds and took four or so bills out of the stack before returning it to the drawer. "We can stop by a store one the way....just make sure you get something that will last for a while. If you don't you may end up naked out there until we are through." he stated as he handed her a hundred dollar bill. Obviously she had access to more funds than He did. However when he found her she was naked so it was doubtful she had any cash on her atm. The rest of the bills were placed into his pocket as a just in case measure. Never knew when you'd have to do repairs on the car or something.

ANASTASIA KIRILOVNA MARISOVA → IT'S HARD TO SEE THE PAIN BEHIND THE MASK BEARING THE BURDENSHE STANDS HARD AS A STONE IN A WORLD THAT SHE CAN'T RISE ABOVE ← He didn’t say anything at first and Anastasia wondered I maybe he was going to tell her no. She didn’t think it was an unreasonable request. . . . Sighing, she sat back down on the couch just as Aleksei started to get up. Anastasia turned her head to watch him and he rummaged in a drawer and then pulled out a wad of cash, picking out some bills from it. “We can stop by a store one the way. . . just make sure you get something that will last for a while. If you don't you may end up naked out there until we are through,” he warned, handing over a hundred dollar bill. Anastasia felt a pang of guilt, but she didn’t have any of her things since she’d attacked that man.
The small girl shook her head and held the bill against her chest. “I know. . . I’ll pick something appropriate, promise,” she assured him, as if she needed his approval. She was sure that there was something she could buy that was mountain wear. Standing back up, she decided that it was time for her to go to sleep. She didn’t know what was going to be in store for her and she wanted to get as much sleep as she could, especially since she was in a strange domicile with someone that frightened her a little bit and she wasn’t getting much sleep in the first place. “I’m going to bed now,” she said, standing there for a moment before she scurried into the room that Aleksei had said she’d sleep in.

Alek watched as she retreated towards the room that he had prepared for her, after informing him that she was going to sleep. He shrugged in response, and leaned forward to work on removing his boots. One they were untied he pulled em off and set em besides the couch. Then he leaned back and sipped his beer while watching the news. New York was such an interesting place. So many immortals here yet the humans had not the slightest clue. Alek finished his beer and put the empty can next to his boots before he lay down on the couch. He glanced back towards the room that Ana now occupied, and certainly had a couple lingering lewd thoughts before he focused his attention on the TV. "No wonder she's always getting into trouble" he muttered to himself as he listened to the reporter talk about the string of recent ritualistic killings that had been plaguing the city.
Alek was well aware of these killings, and there source. Little did the reporter, or the police for that matter know; the person they were looking for was a vampire, and that person had been killed three nights ago by Alek. Those particular killings would stop as a result, but the body count would keep increasing so long as humans and immortals shared the city. Eventually humanity would realize whats going on. It was inevitable, then the number of bodies would really start to pile up. It was a time that Alek personally hoped he didn't live long enough to see. Picking up the remote, Alek turned off the TV and rested his head on the arm rest. Though it was pitch black in the safe-house he could still see perfectly. He closed his eyes in preparation, as he awaited a night of hopefully peaceful sleep before there long trip the following morning.

ANASTASIA KIRILOVNA MARISOVA → IT'S HARD TO SEE THE PAIN BEHIND THE MASK BEARING THE BURDENSHE STANDS HARD AS A STONE IN A WORLD THAT SHE CAN'T RISE ABOVE ← Anastasia looked around the room. Everything was shoved to one corner—Aleksei’s version of cleaning up, no doubt—but the bed looked clean enough. Looking over her shoulder, she checked to see if Aleksei was following her—her paranoid dictated that she check—and then she turned back around and closed the door behind her. It didn’t make as much noise as she would have liked it to, but at least the door was closed. Her hearing would allow her to hear the latch open at least. Aleksei seemed nice and all—well, no. The tiger didn’t seem nice, but he didn’t mean, either—but Anastasia had become pretty paranoid around most men.
Sighing, Anastasia looked over to the bed and then slowly walked over to it, dragging her feet. She was tired and she felt horrible and she just wanted to sleep forever. Pulling the covers back on the bed, the young hyena crawled on the mattress and then pulled the covers up to her chin, curling up into a tight ball against the cold bed. A shiver spread through her body for a second and she pulled the blankets up tighter around her and closed her eyes. She couldn’t stop thinking about the trip she was going to make with someone who might as well have been a stranger. What were they going to do in the mountains? Camp? That didn’t seem hard at all. . . . She hadn’t ever been camping, but it seemed fairly fun. However, Anastasia also realized that it wasn’t going to be that simple. She wasn’t looking forward to it at all, but she wanted the help. She wanted his help and she wanted to be better. Sleep didn’t come easy, but she managed after an hour of tossing and turning to drift off.
