----------------------------------------- He looked up at her, ceasing all other motions. Her stuttered apology made him swallow lightly, blinking. He never meant to upset her, or anyone, except for certain times. When he did, he made sure that person knew long beforehand. But not now. It was this thought that brought him out of his shattered memories, slowly pushing them into the back of his mind, locking them away again behind layers and layers of time. Taking a deep breath, he straightened, life flowing back into his eyes.
He noticed her scooting towards him, and tilted his head slightly, confused. Her eyes had glanced towards something else, but when he flicked his gaze to follow hers, he saw nothing. Maybe the wind had blown the leaves around, maybe she was just looking around. He could not blame her, here in the place of her family's death. Any normal person would be uncomfortable, and fear was a natural reaction to the death of those that you knew well. Still, she was unsettled by something, to be moving towards him, when only minutes earlier she had stated her distrust of Were-wolves.
At her final question, his eyes finally locked back on to hers. "You want to go...for a run? It was an easy, quick way to clear one's head, that was sure, and he did feel that both of them could use that. Him because of his recently dredged up memories, and her because of the extreme proximity of the place of her parents death, as well as the lingering love she obviously felt for them, as well as the fear she had of the place, as if some shade of her family's killers might remain. Perhaps that would explain the fear.
"Hell, why not?" He said, standing and stretching, placing his folded duster in his small, slim backpack. It was small enough that when he pulled the straps tight, cinching the thing to his back, its weight was hardly noticable. "Might do us both some good...if you can keep up..." He added, a smile growing on his face. -----------------------------------------

THERE'S ROOM INSIDE FOR TWO I'M NOT BREATHING FOR YOU( i long to be like you lie cold in the ground like you i'm calling )- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Were-lynx bit her lip lightly but nodded her head all the same. A run would clear her mind and on such a beautiful night, it would be the perfect way to relax. And plus, she had been itching to go for a run in her lynx form. But, human runs were the best first. Unless he changed first.
Angel chuckled as she stood up and dusted herself off. "Might do us both some good...if you can keep up..."
[/color] She looked up at him, a childish grin an her lips. "If I can keep up? I think you better speak for yourself first, Werewolf. Us lynxes are très vite," she said. Winking, she turned back towards the woods, shuddering a bit at the sight of the darkness. "Catch me if you can," she whispered in a voice that only a supernatural could hear. Angelique began to run at about three fourths her normal speed. It was still pretty fast, about as fast as a human could go. Already, she felt better. Closing her eyes, she felt like she could purr, but didn't. She couldn't really purr when she was in her human form. ----------------------------------------- Mal laughed at her words. Even though he didn't quite understand the few words in French, it was easy to guess at their meaning. Indeed, he would find a run this night soothing to the spirit. The moon sent bright light down, sending flickering shadows across the floor of the forest. Not that he needed it. Nor would she. His eyes saw as well at night as most would in the day, and his nose added even more besides. Nothing in this forest would trip him up, send him sprawling, unless something unexpected would happen to him, a trick played by another.
He was ever so slightly started as she started running, even though he caught her words. Then he laughed, carelessly tearing off his shirt and tossing it aside, tensing his legs as he bent low to the ground. It would only slow him down, the baggy shirt catching much wind as he ran. His jeans would be much less of a problem, as they were tight enough to be of little trouble to his freedom of movement. Pushing off hard, he sent a huge plume of dirt into the air as his foot dug deeply into the soft ground, sending himself rocketing forward in huge paces, his legs blurring, easily beginning to catch up to her. His breath came in slow, deep breaths, having little problem keeping his breath. With his life, it always helped to stay in shape, even though, as a Were, he was naturally fit to begin with.
This night was beautiful, and he slowed himself to keep pace with Angelique. It would do neither of them any good to race through the forest heedless of space or time.... -----------------------------------------

THERE'S ROOM INSIDE FOR TWO I'M NOT BREATHING FOR YOU( i long to be like you lie cold in the ground like you i'm calling )- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Angel felt as the wind rushed through her hair. She had gad a pretty good head start and the look that she had caught on Mal's face before she had began. She wished that she had had a camera.
For some reason, he reminded her of Lucas. Maybe it was because he was a nice werewolf or maybe it was the way he acted. Either way didn't matter, he was nice to her and that was all that she care to know. That, and he was the one helping her keep from breaking down completely. Being in this forest all alone at night would just a be a recipe for disaster to the max.
She could hear him catching up and Angel turned her head to look behind her. Sure enough, he was right behind her and with a few more strides, there was no doubt in her mind that he would be matching her pace by pace shortly.
"Can you turn into a wolf on non-full moon nights?" she asked as she ran.

----------------------------------------- It only took a few more seconds to catch fully up to her, his feet lightly passing over the ground with little noise as he ran. The only sound he made was the slow deepness of his breath, and the slight displacement of the air as he ran through it. He had never met a human that could keep up with him, nor one that could hear him coming when he did not desire to be heard. At the moment, it made little difference, as the two were the only living things within miles, save a few forest inhabitants. Still, old habits died hard, so he ran on silently, next to the girl who had lost her home so close to here. He did not think on that matter any more, clearing his head of everything but the run, the sticks that he avoided, the leaves that his feet flew over. The branches he was forced here and there to duck and avoid.
He welcomed the wind in his face as it blew back his hair, cool on his bare chest. It was like gentle kisses that only the world could bestow upon him. A gift, from nature, to keep him cool this beautiful night. The entire time, he kept pace with Angelique, taking longer, less frequent strides to match her shorter ones. It felt wonderful to stretch out and run after so much walking, sitting and talking, and his mind felt free of burden for a while.
Mal was so distracted that he almost missed her question. When he heard it, he smiled softly, a faint tint of his old Irish accent coming back to his voice. "Lass, if I hadn't learned to control that side of myself after four hundred years, I'd be one sorry excuse for a were, now wouldn't I. Why do you ask?" He was pretty sure he knew, but was waiting for her cue first. -----------------------------------------

She couldn't help but chuckle inwardly at his accent. Well, not at it, but at the fact that he seemed to be trying to hide it. It was kind of cool to hear it slip out. She loved her accent and she hated hiding it, herself.
"No real reason." A coy smile slide onto her lips. She thought of chancing taking off her out fit first so that they didn't rip, but then again, she had plenty of the same kind of pants anyway. Plus, she could find the same shirt at the store.
She didn't really care. She stopped dead in her tracks and let herself shift. It was quicker than some, lasting only a few seconds though it felt like a couple of minutes for her. It was kind of painful.
A snow lynx began to dash through the night air, it's awkwardly colored blue eyes seeming to glow slightly in the moonlight.

----------------------------------------- He cocked his head to the side at her answer, almost believing for a second that she had meant nothing by the question. Which, of course, would have been a disappointment. He had been able to feel the wolf inside prowling about for a good deal of time now, and had been looking forward to a chance to let it slip out, if only a little. Control wasn't the issue here, just common courtesy. His doubts were all laid to rest when she shifted on her own, a snow lynx bounding through the trees. He took a moment to appraise her form. A beautiful animal, to be sure. A tiny tremble of unexpected fear ran through him, but he forced it down. Those days were long past, when the sight of a white cat could scare him. Even now, however, the memories remained. He tried not to let it show, however, focusing on his own transformation.
For practicality's sake, he decided to take his pants off before shifting. No wolf could run well in a pair of jeans, no matter how large it was. For the sake of modesty, he leapt upwards, disappearing into the branches for a brief second before a large, lupine form struck the ground ahead, the now discarded lower body garments dangling from a high branch. He paid no mind to what would happen when they were done, merely luxuriating in the feel of wind through his pure white fur. His eyes retained their green, warm luminescence, a sign that he was still fully in control of the wolf. On days when the hunger took over, though few and far between after four hundred years, his eyes would become a blood red.
Pacing quickly through the trees, he caught up to the lynx, falling silently besides her. His form was quite obviously that of a wolf, though many humans would not recognize it as such, due to its large size. No, this could more be considered a dire wolf, over four feet at the shoulders, and much longer along the ground. Wolves of this size had not lived in the world since the ancient days, far before either of them were born. -----------------------------------------
