Caleb took a deep breath of the fresh air, though the smell of the city was still there, still around him. He missed the forests, missed the trees. He had thought about going on vacation, but he couldn't. The hospital needed him, his leopards...most of them needed him. They always seem to get into trouble.
He unbuttoned his lap coat and threw in the back seat of his car, his shirt didn't take long to follow, and then his socks and shoes. He curled his toes against the pavement and grinned. The Earth called to him and urged him to run. Not yet...too many people in the park just yet.
He closed the door behind him and headed into the park. It's been a while since he was here. Today was his day off. He told the hospital that he didn't want to be contacted and to contact Jennifer if they needed someone. The club could wait...Sherry took his shift today and the fans loved her just as much as they loved him.
The grass felt so comforting under his feet and a shudder rippled down his spine. His bones were urging to shift, to feel the grass against his thick fur and hide in the shadows or maybe even mess with the...human's mind. It funny to see then double check to see if they really saw a leopard in the middle of New York City.
Not yet...A few more minutes and maybe he could...Just for a little bit be himself...

Mitsuaki could care less what the people thought. Sitting up in a tree he lounged, orange and black tail hanging from above. His great head rested on massive paws as the wind blew through is thick fur. He was made for the cold in this form. So it felt good. Yawning he stretched, turning on his side and making the branch groan under his weight. Ah, this was the life. The two days off he got a month. This was day one, and he was enjoying it like no tomorrow. Flexing a foot-paw he pushed his claws out, then pulled them in, over and over until it bored him. Nothing to do, and that was fine.
On the wind there was a smell, cat, different kind. Huh… scanning he found only humans, maybe it was just wishful thinking? But he called out, a soft moancall that made some of the humans look around, but not up. Nice, they never thought to look above their heads.

Caleb twisted his head toward the sound, if he was in leopard form his ears would flick. His eyes narrowed at the unfamiliar sound. It wasn't one of his leopards...
He sprang into a tree, landing on the tree branch, and sighed. His back rippled and his shoulders popped out of joint. His ribs snapped as his body began to take on a new shape. It didn't hurt. It used to, but not anymore.
Moments later he was standing on all four legs, claws digging into the tree's wood. This was his true form. He was more comfortable in this one than human any day. This was him, not that two legged guy.
He lowered his muzzle and growled low in his throat, ending it in a hiss. This was his turf and he didn't like uninvited guests...

Mitsu’s head snapped up, hearing an answering call. So it was a cat, but not one that he knew of. He was partly sad, hoping that there was another tiger; he was so tired of being alone. But at the same time there was excitement. What kind of cat was this? He just had to find out. Twisting his back again to sit, full on the branch; tail and right leg hanging in anticipation. A low, long rumble from him, almost to guide the other cat.
He wanted this one to find him, show him what a ten foot five hundred fifty pound cat could do. Flexing one of his fore-claws he grinned the way only a tiger could. Sounds like fun.

Caleb head snapped to the left, ears pressing back to his skull. He growled low again, flexing his paws. Claws out, claws in, claws out...It felt so great to have fur again. He had been told once that the transformed weres have some beast in them, but he was the beast. He was more comfortable as a cat than as a human. More comfortable on four legs than on two, though he could walk just find on two and even better. It was just more comfortable.
A purr rumbled from his chest and he rubbed his face against the tree trunk, scenting it. He's been on this tree before, watching the humans below walk mindlessly through the park unknown to them that a predator was above. He never ate human, never planned to. He wasn't that predator...
His gold eyes rolled to the call and he thought about just ignoring it and going his separate way, after all, this city was populated by more than cats and dogs...
But no, it bothered him. He wanted to who this cat was and what he was doing on his turf. He tried to know all the cats here even though only the leopards were his. Kept things...not confusing.
He flicked his long 1 meter tail, so busy. His body was made for the snow and mountains, standing on a tree was always different. His big paws would act like snow shoes and his thick fur would have kept him warm.
He snorted and shook his body, the branch under him groaned. Leaping forward he landed on the nearest tree's branch and rubbed along the tree's trunk before continuing on his way.
The next tree, he spotted the orange and black stripes of a tiger. Bigger cat than him, but he would place a bet on himself. Caleb was born a leopard; father a leopard and mother a witch...He considered himself stronger than a mere transformed were.
He growled, flicking his tail, and stood tall while he glared his gold eyes at the trespasser.

His own long black-tipped tail swayed in joy of finding a big cat. Smaller than himself; Leaps normally were. But it didn’t mean it was any less of a threat. Leopards were made for the trees, he was not. Being up high gave the other the advantage like Mit’s size gave him one on the ground. Interesting. But the fact that there was another cat made him want to fight… and at the same time he didn’t. He wanted to find out about him, both by fighting him to see his strength and by simply talking to him. Mouth slightly parted he let his large fangs show.
well, who might you be?
Threat or not, he had to be sure that this was part-human. Could just be a zoo-escape that had a lot of contact with humans.

Caleb narrowed his eyes as the other showed fangs and growled low, baring his own.
"Shouldn't I be asking the questions, tiger?" He rubbed the side of his face against the tree, keeping his sight on the other were. "I am leopard king in this city. Who are you?"
He was going to give him his name, but decided only if the other asked for it. It's not like he was known, well "Micah" was, but not Caleb. He was just a good doctor at the hospital and a loving leader to his cats. "Micah" was the stripper...
"Why are you here without a king and who is your king anyway? Haven't heard from the other cats in a while..."

Mit snorted a laugh. Leopard king? What in the name of fur was that? But it didn’t matter, he lounged a little more on the branch, all four paws hanging from the wood down into the air below him. Sure, he could be asking the questions if he wanted, didn’t matter to Mitsu much. Yawning at the growls he smirked with cat-mouth pride.
“Ask if you want, you came up and said nothing. So, I took the initiative.” He could speak a lot better in his mind than if he were actually speaking. Lovely, right? Right. “Leopard king? Tiger king? There are kings to these fur suits? Well, isn’t that just peachy. You won’t have me bowing to any king.”
King. What a stupid idea. How could you possibly have kings of this king? Seemed like a silly idea, one that made him think of the fallen kingdoms of the world. Kings and queens of weres, bah.

He hissed, ears pressed back. "Every pack has a king! Another trouble-some in this city, huh? Must be a new fashion..."
He yawned and flopped down on the branch. It growled under his weight and leaves fell to the ground. He was tired after a long day of...well, he really wasn't sure what he did today. His mind was a blank since he shifted into leopard. Always had done that and at first it was annoying, but then he just grew...accustomed to it. It was probably just life...
He rested on the branch, flicking his tail from side to side as he continued to watch the tiger. He didn't feel like talking anymore and tigers weren't his problem...Only the leopards. The leopards were his.

Every pack has a king. Right, when did cat’s travel in packs? Lions had prides, leopards and tigers hated everyone. A leopard king? This guy was fooling himself, conceded much? Mit couldn’t really blame him though, he was sure tons of idiots would fall for that and give him whatever he wanted. He had to smirk though at the blatant refusal to give names on both parts. Seemed neither was willing to give the other the home advantage. And another smirk as Caleb had told him that he should be asking questions then didn't ask any, again. How funny. Mitsu had a strange sense of humor.
“Trouble-some, huh? Don’t know about fashion, but I don’t know about any king either. Seems silly, loner cats having some higher authority to scrape to.” Taking his big paws back under him he rolled onto his side, fluffy cheek being flattened by the branch. Mit had a lot of fur. Summers were hard, but this wasn’t Japan anymore, not as hot. Still were murder during the day however.
