The plain walls, the sterile smell, the steady beeps and murmrs of the machines beside her bed. These had been a lullaby to her for nearly all her life and when she just thought her sickness was over... it was back again. Deep violet eyes were sunken in, then dark circles under her eyes stood out like a sore thumb against her marble skin. Her hair was messy and knotted, and her body limp and weak. The good part of this was she got away from the stable, yet it was bad all the while because she missed Blake. The stallion had thrown such a fit when they hauled her off, and she could do nothing but smiles at him. Kali hoped that he would be okay.
A rush of icy cold air dried her throat, making her cough. The oxygen they had her on wasnt helping, she could breathe just fine. For a while anyways. The slow beat of her heart tumped in her ears as a nuse came to her, fussing over the clogged IV and mumbling something about Kali being such an item of trouble. When she took a breath to talk her voice came out cracked and marred, nothing close to the sweet innocent tone she had normally. "It is my fathers fault..." She croaked and then coughed, her body hunching with the force. Eventually the fit subsided and Kali was left alone once again.
Her violet eyes closed, and then opened again slowly, feeling as though she wasnt safe. Who would prey on such and innocent vampiress? Kali just sighed, and let her eyes fall closed. Let them come, she couldnt fight even when she was healthy.

“Thank you my boy, thank you.” The old woman’s hands held tightly onto the man’s tight white shirt and her frail body was supported by his much stronger frame. “Almost there,” he urged, keeping their pace toward the chairs. His deep voice comforted her as they slowly made their way toward the particular waiting lobby where she needed to be. They had just come off the elevator and the old woman was more than eager to sit with her family that were happily awaiting her arrival. This act of kindness was merely a polite gesture for he had seen the weak woman just outside of the hospital that evening and seemed to need the aid from her cab to the upstairs lobby.
Dominick was a gentleman and he wanted nothing more than to help others around him, it was due to this reason that he was a hunter, to rid the mortals and kind people of the world of the horrible creatures that ruined it. As two women came with their thanks to retrieve the old woman Dom was nothing but smiles and he gently nodded in response. Surely the family members were wondering why a man would come out of his way to help an elderly lady to her destination but they didn’t protest.
Dom turned away and headed down the hallway, personally satisfied with helping the elderly woman. But inside his motivation wasn’t necessarily to help the old woman but instead perhaps to find something hidden in the secrecy of the hospital, hiding being the façade of the ill. Was there not creatures just thirsting for the right opportunity to take the life of a weak individual laying helpless in a hospital bed…or perhaps he could take advantage of any weak creature that might be seeking refuge here.
The hunter’s specialty was finding the lycan specie, for it was them who had ruined his life. But he didn’t want torment or agony to ever enter the life of a person who didn’t deserve it, and in turn, any dangerous form of the night was his ultimate enemy. As he grabbed the soda that popped out of the machine he watched as a nurse exited a room with irritation. Dom let a gulp of the beverage slowly slide down his throat before tightening the lid back on the bottle. He slowly approached the room to hear rough coughing and stirring from within. The door was slightly cracked and he looked in; knocking he slid in and looked into the darkness. “Everything all right,” he asked concerned, hearing nothing but the beeping of the machines and the breathing of the individual tucked in the bed.

Kali laid in the bed, her eyes staring out the window that wasnt too far from her bed. The blinds were only half closed because her skin could handle some sunlight. She had asked politly and the nurse never thought anything of it. It was beautiful, and Kali wished she could be out riding Blake at this very moment. With her eyes half lidded she found herself tired, but not able to fall asleep. There was an annoying prickling sensation that ran down her throat because of the oxygen they had her on. In a feeble attempt to remove the damnable thing from under her nose she lifted her hand, but only made it half way before it dropped. She was too weak to even think about moving. Kali gave a hoarse sigh at her weakness.
Then the door cracked open and a stream of light came through the room. A mans voice rang, and Kali didnt even have the strength to be frightened. She just slowly turned her head to the doorway, her violet eyes half closed and the dark circles making them look brighter. "I'm fine..." She choked out. Kali wondered what the person wanted. She wondered if maybe, he was someone that could heal her and get her out of this horrible place. But the room was silent again, and she wondered if the person had left her to be alone once more.

Dom inched a tiny bit further at first when he didn’t hear anything but the ravaging breathing and jumped slightly to hear the sultry female voice return to him in announcing that she was all right. He nodded for he had assumed her near death from her breathing and thrashing he had heard just outside of the room. He turned the corner to reveal himself, his perfectly chiseled frame being outlined in the light that shaped the room around them. His arms were rounded ever so perfectly as he stood there, looking at her limp body on the bed. “Doesn’t sound fine,” he commented, voice sickening cold, despite the fact that his intentions were good. Dom had a heart of gold and pain of others was something he wanted to prevent the best he could. Potentially you could call him an everyday, normal, superhero.
“Did you need me to get a nurse back for ya? I was just passing by and heard you were having trouble.” His eyes did not move from hers and a slight smirk formed over his lips as he leaned against the wall. He crossed his leg in front of the other. “I can just go get you a nurse real quick…” He pointed toward the door as if necessary he could do so but waited for her upcoming response before acting.

Kali watched the figure move around the corner and her heart jumped, and the monitor showed it. She was afraid, but she was always afraid of men. He had a slightly arrogant air about him, and her violet eyes glittered slightly as she began to focus on his face. "Of course..." She began, her voice sounding like that of an old crackling radio. "Why would i sound alright....? Im in a hospital bed..." Kali began to cough again as the oxygen shot down her throat. Eventually, after a minute or so, her fit ended and she looked even weaker than before.
"No... dont bother her... She only gets upset with me..." Kali breathed. "but... but you can do me a favor... and get this stupid thing our from under my nose.... Its drying my throat... thats why im coughing...." She tried her best to sound normal, so be unafraid even though the monitors betrayed her. Kali tried once more to remove the oxygen, but didnt have the strength. Her eyes stared at him, wondering why he would waste his time with her. She sometimes wondered that about the nurses as well, but they only told her it was thier job to keep her heathy. Little did they know, it was her fathers doing that always put here in this horrible place.

He heard the beeping of the machine increase and the numbers took a devastating turn upward. “I guess you’re right on that one,” he commented in response to her first response. He listened further to her as she explained the bothersome oxygen was giving her a hard time. “I’m going to assume that you need it if they have you hooked up to it,” he replied in a slightly mocking tone but for humor let a smile curl upon his lips. “But if you feel you’re strong enough…I guess you’re the one that knows best hm?”
With that he slowly made his way toward the bed, his boots sliding slowly against the hospital floor, squeaking slightly as he went. Once he made it to the bedside he fiddled with the machine slightly, investigating its wonder; being able to give the power of life. Just as he nearly freed her from her bothersome imprisonment he heard the squeaking of the door behind the both of them and the nurse came in. Her beady eyes narrowed in on him and she let out a squawk of disapproval. “Excuse me don’t touch her oxygen…she NEEDS it.”
She slapped his hand which caused him to bring both to his sides and he gave her an annoyed and surprised look at her antics. “What are you even DOING in here? It is after visiting hours and I’ve never seen you in here before.” Her quick voice only irritated him and he looked down at the young woman lying in bed, closing his eyes in irritation toward the nurse, trying to get some humor out of the ill woman lying in the bed.
“To think of it SIR…are you even an immediate family member, I can throw you and ban you from this entire HOSPITAL if not,” she squeaked, crossing her arms in front of her and tapping her foot. Dom backed up from the bed and let out a sigh of relief before almost beginning to talk…

Kali was so close to being rid of the oxygen that was destroying her throat when that stupid nurse walked in. She gave a soft cry of dispair at this failure. As the nurse began to get on his case about meerly helping her Kali glared, her violet eyes growing dark. "I dont need this damn oxygen... its messing up my throat... i can breathe on my own..." Kali coughed a few times. The nurse began to go on and on, this woman only gave Kali trouble and she so badly wanted to tell her off. Kali was much to weak though, and even had she been normal she probably wouldnt have the guts to do it anyways. There was always room for change none the less and Kali took a breath before the oxygen shot down her throat again, the warm air was comforting.
"He is my brother..... He was only doing as i asked.... now get this dam oxygen off of me!" Kali coughed at the force she had to use to get louder. She still sounded like a rusty chain saw. Her eyes looked to The man standing there, begging him to play along for both of thier sakes. "Leave him alone.... I dont care if its after visiting hours... He will probably be the only one to ever visit me...." And that was the truth. Her parents didnt care anymore and she didnt have any friends. Oh, but if Blake could get his huge body in this hospital he would. She knew that. Kali laid back against the bed, her eyes staring up at the nurse with a deadly threat.

Dom smiled to hear her mention that he was her brother, and he was more than happy to play along with her for the sake of keeping him in the room and prevent him from getting into any trouble with the security. The nurse was appalled at the sudden outbreak of the woman lying in the bed and she looked up at Dominick for some sort of answer as to why she had had such an outbreak. “Get the damn oxygen off lady!” She looked up at him frazzled by his voice suddenly rising in volume and she jumped slightly in surprise. She moved forward and released the young woman from her oxygen before quickly turning around and heading toward the exit.
“Now please…leave us be until we ask you to come in!” Dom gave her a vicious and threatening look as she left and finally shut the door behind her. He let out a sigh and shook his head, approaching one of the chairs next to the bed and collapsed. He rubbed his eyes and allowed them meet the eyes of the woman on the bed. “So…” The room was utterly silent and he chuckled slightly as he thought of what to say next. “I’m Dominick,” a smile crept upon his face and he could do nothing but smile.

Kali was very tempted to bite off the womans finger to get the point across. Wow, she had never thought like that before. Her eyes blinked but once the oxygen was off kali took a deep breath and didnt cough for the first time. "Thank you..." she whispered, her eyes looking at the man standing there. Kali swallowed a few time to wet her throat and then smiled as it began to cease its prickling. She could feel her throat healing already which made her happy. Maybe this illness would blow over soon and she would be able to go back to the stable. Even though the man there she worked for beat her when something wasnt right, she was happy there. The horses made her happy. Sure, begin a slave was against most laws now a days she was still one.
Kali watched the man sit down, and she gave a weak smile. "Thanks again.." Her voice was already sounding better, sounding softer, more innocent. She watched him as he tried to find something to say, and she let him figure it out on his own. Finally he came up with something. "My name is Kali... Its nice to meet you..." She said gently. Kali was brought up by royalty and knew her manners. "I hope i can make it up to you for what you've done..." Her voice was steadily getting better, growing sweet as honey.

The tone in the room was more awkward than even the first instant he had even though to enter. He quickly accepted her thanks and nodded to her announcement of her name. He shrugged his shoulders at her remark of making it up to him. “No big deal hun; anything I can do in attempt to making things right…” It was only then when his eyes really took in how weak she really was. Surely taking her off the oxygen was a step and work in progress but she still appeared to be utterly lifeless and far beyond a normal level. “One thing is for damn sure, that woman is a bitch, and I don’t know how you can stand these nurses. I’d hate being in a hospital.” He looked out the window to the grounds below, people scurrying around every which way. He was almost sure that one of them had to be a pathetic creature in disguise and he let out a moan in frustration to show it.
“How’d you end up in here anyway?” He caught himself being slightly intrusive and stopped. In the back of his mind he heard his own voice echoing…telling him to leave…telling him to get out of the situation and to not get any closer to the girl. Friends are weaknesses. He shook it off and blinked once before settling against the back of the chair, trying to figure out what made her so enticing to him. On most occasions he would help someone and get out; he should have been gone out of the hospital room minutes ago. Instead he was still seated firmly in the chair, staring across the room at her and waiting for her to speak again. Why did he end up in that hospital room? Why was he there?

Kali was as fragile as glass dispite her immortal state. As she thought of that Her violet eyes flicked down to the IV in her arm, to see the water backed up quite a way up the tube. She groaned and tried to reach for it, not wanting the nurse to come back in and be angry with her. She made it, but just barely as she began to pick at the medical tape while distracting herself with Dominick. "Well... when most of your life consisted of living in a hospital.... it becomes like home..." she breathed, her voice very close to normal now. "For most of my teenage life i was in the hospital because of my father... He tested on me like a lab rat... amazingly, im still here.... my immume system is shot, which is why im back in here once more." Her eyes closed as the tape tore away from her pale, marble colored skin. Now she began on pulling the needle from her skin.
She sighed, trying to think of how exactly she had gotten here. "Well... i had a.... an accident i guess you could call it... and the wound got infected..." the true story was that her master had cut her open with a box cutter. Every time she moved the wound on her ribs tore open. "Thats why im here. The littlest things get me sent here..." Kali breathed gently. Her violet eyes looked at him softly, wondering why he seemed so distracted. Some people would notice the pale skin and violet eyes and peg her for the vampire she was, but he seemed oblivious.

Her eyes were illuminating and he was nearly captured in them. As she spoke softly he was drawn away from the trance and listened intently to her explanation; of her story of being accustomed to the hospital scenario at such a young age. It almost hurt him to hear such a story, being entrapped in a situation such as this through her entire life? Dom knew very well that he had his own difficulty and sad story but he refused to ever bring it up; ever. “Your father tested on you?” He was quite shocked that such information would be shared at all, especially since they hadn’t known one another for an extended amount of time.
He couldn’t think of much else to say in response after she finished her story. “Well…to put it bluntly…that sucks.” He let his hand run over his scalp and he bit his lower lip before crossing his arms tightly over his broad chest that heaved slow and steady breaths. “Well if you’re here often…then I’m gonna assume you live nearby?” He proceeded in his thoughts, trying to possibly get some information from her considering he just entered town…his goal to find the werewolves. Dom never in his life had been exposed to vampires and never had he ever encountered one. In truth, yes he was oblivious to the vampire species and thus far he didn’t have a problem or issue with them either.
“Does anything strange ever happen around here, something you really couldn’t explain?”

Kali flinched as the needle finally come free from her icy skin and plinked against the tile floor. It was clogged again, so there would be no mess. The blood blubbled from the bend in her left elbow and all she did was study it, her eyes and being quiet. His voice sank into her mind, eventually registering. "Yes, he did. It was because of my broken spirit...." her eyes grew distant, seeming to visit that place so far back in time. "I finally had a friend when i was younger... but... she..." Kali tried to figure out a way to explain, rather than saying 'my vampire family hated my human friends.'. "Well... she was different... and my parents didnt like that..... so my father took her away from me and i never saw her again.... My spirit was broken and he tried to get it back through drugs and medication.... all it did was ruin me more.." Kali sighed gently, wiping at the tears that had suddenly clouded her eyes.
She sighed as a few peices of onyx black hair fell into her eyes. "I guess i do.." She responded to his question on living nearby. "I... I live in a stable outsie of central park.... i work there..." she left out the teeny little detail of her being a slave. Kali took a deep breath to sigh, but the sharp pain in her side from her wound made her cringe. Those sharp, slightly longer canines were visable, but she thought nothing of it. She thought of herself as human. "Anything strange..." She asked again softly. "Well... not that i know of..."

He listened with intent, truth, and care. Why he was fascinated he wasn’t really sure…he had even made himself…forced himself away from caring about others entirely, or at least he forced himself away from getting involved in lives. “You had….a…friend? One? Ever…?” He listened on to hear how she turned towards drugs and medication and he shook his head while keeping her eyes pinned with hers. He saw the tears form and he could feel his heart ache…sadness crept over him and his own tears were reaching him. But he fought against them and kept his orbs solid. As she moved on from the tender part of her life, and now toward her location of which she lived he gave her a gentle nod.
“I honestly just got into town recently and I don’t know where the hell that stable is. But once you get outta here I’m going to make it a point to come see you.” As he finished up he saw the pain come to her side and he had the desire to try and fix it, to make it work, to make the pain go away. Thankfully her face showed that is slowly subsided and he could breathe again. His eyes worked at her face to see the pain slowly disappear, her mouth slightly agape to reveal pointed teeth barely visible to vision but he blinked once or twice and he convinced himself he was imagining.
“I’m actually planning on staying here though…starting over yanno? Have had some troubles and I’m actually looking to do some things while I’m here.” Sure Dom couldn’t go out and say that he was a hunter…to most people the werewolves that he hunted didn’t even exist and to disclose that information to the young woman he didn’t feel would be appropriate. Dom assumed that she was just a normal human being, a normal young, gorgeous…young woman who from the information he had gathered was having a hell of a time in life. He never would guess that she was anything but ordinary. He thought that if he told her that he hunted werewolves then he would be deemed insane and would be dismissed. For the time being he wanted anything but to be dismissed…he felt a bond…a connection…no matter if that felt stupid or not.
He actually could see his Sara in her face…one of the first women he had seen entering town and he saw Sara. Sure…that was probably natural right? It was probably natural to see the deceased in the living…right?
“I only ask if you’ve seen strange things…because I’m looking for a place to stay and I’m not looking to live in any insanely crazy neighborhood.”

"one friend. Thats it." She admitted sadly. Kali had loved that girl, they were perfect together. She didnt care what Kali was, and became her best friend. How Kali dispised her family for ruining that, how she hated her mother for putting her in expensive satin dresses and jewelry with her hair done, and she hated her father for using her as a lab rat for his own selfish nature, trying to bring his little girl back. Stupid old man. "Well..." Kali breathed. "I can show you where it is, if i ever get out of here...." her eyes looked up to the ceiling, a desprate attempt in asking god to free her of this. But why would he? She was one of the damned.
"Well... i can keep an eye out... though i dont leave the stable much. Im not allowed to." Kali tried to sit herself up, her body and the cut in her side particularly hurting. She groaned, but managed to heave herself into a sitting position. "Ahh... that was hard..." Kali panted softly. Her body throbbed, her eyes closed. "I wish that sometimes... i was a different person... this gets rediculous after a while..." Kali flinched a little. She was dizzy now that she was sitting up, and there was about three different Dominick's in her eyes. Her head was starting to hurt as well. "Uhm... do you think you could see if.." her eyes were terribly unfocused, "..If i can get some asprin or something...? my head is killing me...."
