Someone asked me what "alma mater" means. I didn't know. I fail. I fail so badly. But at least I still get to be on their quiz team. They seemed to think a quiz team composed entirely of mathmos was a Bad Thing. They're probably right.
I still fail. I forgot a friend was coming, I forgot the college was sending people to inspect my room (they knocked while I was still in pyjamas) and I... gah! I have just forgotten what I was about to type. Suckage. Oh yes, and I am going to go to a supervision this afternoon to be told that I wrote an appalling essay.
I fail at life.

Which ultimately means I fail all the more. Those things have NO PLOT. The protagonists are... less than two-dimensional, on the most part. This is not good. I'd be depressed at the idea, were it not for the fact that I just had a very pleasant and encouraging supervision indeed and that I have Fridays off. Three-day weekend always cheers me up.
On the subject of "alma mater": it's in Latin, and easy Latin at that, and I'm doing a degree which is composed, in a great part, of Latin. This should be something I can do. Besides, "alma" has a lot of derivative links to similar-meaning English words.

I know what it is, just not what it means. There's a difference. And I looked it up when I got a dictionary, but they did tell me once I'd failed their little test anyway. Bleh. But it matters not. The brain is now fully engaged and I shall learn some vocab!
And lol away at the inspectors. It was quite funny when I told someone else.

Problem- they didn't warn me. The next time they'll be checking is to see if my electricals are safe. I'm slightly unnerved by the idea of them rifling through my drawers and cupboards, but hey ho, that's how it goes.
I'm a lot less bothered by my fail now. I had a good evening.
