Gosh. I wonder if religion did really ispire Rubens or if they are just insipred by the culture. The Baroque era was such a beautiful realistic time period. I love the warm yet dark colors they used. It such a serene picture.
She stared at a painting by Rubens. Her knowledge of art was fairly extensive she was in no way an expert but she knew a nice piece of art when she saw it. It was a beautiful scene of the birth of Jesus, there were warm colours of red, light browns and even warmer shades of black. It was one of her favorite things to do was to go to the museum. She loved revelling in the over glamorized life of Victorian, Medievel or Ancient times. While she was stuck in her room, when she was younger she would read. Her knowledge of history and philosophy had grown exponentally because there was nothing else to do.
Pulling her eyes from the painting she moved slowly towards the next painting. It was just as beautiful, an image of Jesus on a cross. She wasn't religious her family had been Ukrainian Catholics so the images of Jesus or bible scenes gave her a strange feeling of warmth and calm. Of course she knew these images were suppose to convay these feelings but for her they gave her strong feelings of family. She never really thought of religion as a viable organization of people, she found beauty in faith but she saw no point in it. There were now so many more ways to connect with people, art, music, science, philosophy and what not. She smiled as she looked to her left she hadn't noticed that was the end of the hall. She pulled her sweater closer to her, as the low temprature to shiver.
Walking through the giant arch way she made her way towards the Ancient Roman exhibit. Rome had always intrigued her, they were such a powerful empire, they inspired many. The United States were a perfect example of a nation who in her opinion wanted to emulate the power of Rome. She thought it an interesting concept, that these nations want to be like the glorified Roman empire. With a smile she walked up to a refurbished display of Roman armour. It gleemed in the display light. The brown, red and bronze were such beautiful colours together. She had lost herself in the display blocking the two or three other people in the room with her.
