The silence dragged on and Anastasia continued to try to fall asleep. Her eyes were closed and it was quiet enough to, but she couldn’t seem to let her mind calm down and just fall silent so she could drift away and recover from everything that had happened that night. She didn’t want to cry anymore while the tiger was there, but she could feel the tears coming as she sat and replayed the scene of Kyla’s death over and over in her head. There had been nothing she could do to help her friend, but not because it had all happened too quickly or because Kyla had just been being careless, but because Anastasia just hadn’t been able to do anything. She wasn’t a fighter, didn’t even know how to defend herself against an attacker. It was why she hadn’t particularly cared when Aleksei had announced—however indirectly—that his intention was to kill her. It wasn’t like she could have stopped him, and it wasn’t like she had any particular reason to live anymore except for the fact that she was afraid to die. She was scared of dying more than she was scared of being alone forever. There were plenty of people in the world, and once she got over Kyla’s death, she would be able to find new friends. Maybe.
Anastasia heard Aleksei got up and managed to refrain from looking at him. She thought it perhaps better that he thought she was asleep, and when she heard him leave the room and the shower start, Anastasia opened her eyes and slowly sat up. A hot shower would be nice, but she would prefer to take one while she was at her own home. She was already self-conscious enough wearing just a t-shirt. Kyla’s clothes were in her bag, but Anastasia wasn’t about to put on her dead friend’s clothing. First, it wouldn’t really fit her, and second it was just wrong. Sighing, Anastasia slowly stood up and looked up at where the sheets were kept. There were some stairs and Anastasia slowly made her way up while the tiger was still in the shower. At this point she was tired and completely numb to everything and didn’t much care if he was angry at her for taking one of the blankets. The small girl picked up a thick blanket and then climbed back down the stairs, sitting on the mattress and unfolding the blanket, pulling it over her.
The shower turned off and Anastasia settled in on her stomach like she had been, curled up in a small ball as she waited for the blanket to warm up from her body heat and give it back to her. The rain could still be heard outside, and the rhythmic patter as it hit the little building was almost soothing. Anastasia didn’t know why she was pretending to be asleep. It was obvious she was still awake, as she now had a blanket covering her, and it was slowly starting to warm her up. When she got more comfortable—which usually came with being warm—she would probably be able to fall asleep easier. He went upstairs into the room where the blankets had been sitting outside, but Anastasia wasn’t particularly curious about what he was doing up there. She wished briefly that she had a pillow, but this would do. Anastasia also wished that she had perhaps come across someone who cared a little more, as she could have used a hug, but it wasn’t going to happen, and she wasn’t about to ask him for one.

Alek stayed in the control room until the sun came up. Then made his way back downstairs to the main floor. The rain had finally stopped. He made his way to the fridge and got out a carton of eggs and a package of bacon which he began to prepare on the stove. He was subconsciously working as quiet as possibly as a courtesy to his sleeping guest. Not that he actually cared about whether or not he woke her. Perhaps he did a little, but he'd never admit that not even to himself. He got a couple of plates and utensils, and served breakfast. He put his on the table next to the laptop and hers at the foot of the bed just far enough away that she wouldn't step in it when she woke up. He didn't bother waking her. It was none of his concern whether or not she had could eggs, or whether she liked eggs at all.
Alek sat in his chair and took a few bites of his eggs. Then turned on the laptop and checked the news sites. It was a pretty quiet night last night he figured since there were no recent updates after the ones he had seen the previous night. Alek closed the laptop and continued to eat his breakfast. After a few minutes he was finished and made his way over to the car closest to the door. It was a black Impala. He opened the hood and checked the fluids, then connected the battery. He had disconnected the batteries in all the cars as a precaution. In case anyone ever did get in here. They wouldn't have access to escape vehicles.. He closed the hood and opened the trunk. Deciding to load a few toys just in case. A M2000 sniper rifles, an mp5 sub machine gun and some C4. Then he grabbed a rag and began to wipe the dust from the car in preparation of it's first time being driven since he acquired it.

It had taken some time, but at least with the blanket not covering her she was able to get warm enough to relax and feel a bit more comfortable. Finally she was able to drift away. She was worn out mentally and physically, and once she finally got used to the fact that the tiger wasn’t going to hurt her in any way shape or form, she drifted off relatively easily. Her night was wrought with nightmares, but when she woke, they all faded into nothing and she just fell back asleep. Each time, however, she found Aleksei up in the control room. Was he sleeping in there or something? However, she didn’t bother to dwell on it for very long and passed out soon after she woke. When the morning came around, she slept soundly through the tiger’s morning routine, finally having uncurled from her ball at some point when she’d finally gotten warm. She still wasn’t as warm as when she was in her own bed and in a house with central heating.
However, when he brought the food to her foot of the bed, the aroma roused her from her slumber. It made her remember that she was still hungry. Slowly Anastasia started to wake up. Pushing herself up with her arms, the blanket slipped from around her shoulders and she shuddered violently, and grabbed the blanket and pulled it back around her shoulders and wrapping herself up in it nice and tight. She might have been a were, but her form was more suited for hot environments, so this cold weather didn’t suit her well. Yes, she as from Russia and it was rather cold there, but she was small and got cold easy. The small girl scooted closer to the edge of the bed and picked up the plate and silverware and started to pick at the eggs and bacon. It was a simple meal, but Anastasia still very much liked it, and it filled her stomach. She looked up at the tiger working on his car and swallowed. “Thank you,” she said with a light smile.

Alek didn't bother looking up at the girl. After today he probably would never see her again unless of course she fucked up. Then he'd see her again though the meeting wouldn't end well for one of them. Alek continued doing spot maintenance on the Impala. Making sure that everything was in order. If one thing he was good at it was being prepared for anything. He glanced over at Ana who was eating her breakfast. She seemed cold. Alek was never bothered much by the temperature his body was designed to stand temperature from jungle hot to tundra cold. Much like the tiger that shared his form, he was adapted to a diverse environment. Alek finished working on the car and started it to make sure the air and everything worked. Once satisfied he turned it off and made his way back over to the girl. "How did you sleep?" he asked. He really didn't care but figured that the girl had just lost her friend he could stand to be a little friendly.

"How'd you sleep?"
Anastasia looked up from her now-empty plate and set it on her lap. She was used to the cold now, but she wasn't going to remove the blanket now that she had it—she was only wearing his shirt, and it was making her pretty self-conscious. Her silverware clattered against the plate and she winced slightly as the loud noise grated against her ears. "Ah. . . I've had better nights," she responded, not unkindly. Standing up, she kept the blanket wrapped around her shoulders and headed for the sink, automatically starting to rinse it off. She didn't recognize anything that looked like a dish washer, so she just gently set the dishes in the sink, hoping she wouldn't be reprimanded. It was the most she'd moved while Aleksei was in the same room.
However, she went straight back to the mattress after looking at her clothes, patting them down. They'd dried over night, but they were frigid from being on the ground. There was no way she was going to putting those back on, but she also didn't want to wander around in nothing but a shirt. She sighed quietly. It was out of the question to wear Kyla's clothes. Not in a million years. "Thank you. . . for letting me stay here for the night. . . I'm. . . ready to go whenever you want to get of rid me." He had said that he would drive her home, so she figured it wouldn't be so bad to sit in the car, but if he'd changed his mine then she would throw on Kyla's pants and socks. . . .

Alek nodded and tossed the keys to the Impala onto the mattress beside her. "You can leave any time your ready...you can drive yes?" he asked as he walked back upstairs to the control room. "Just push the red button next to the door and it'll open so you can drive the car out" he called down as he took a seat in the control room and examined the monitors. There had been a lot of suspicious activity in the area the last few days. It seemed pretty quiet today but that only made Alek feel even more uneasy about it. He was fairly certain he was followed. After all there were more than a few hunters that fancied the idea of taking him out, and even more immortals. You couldn't walk both sides of the line without consequences such as these. Luckily Alek had methods installed just for these kinds of situations. For example the entire warehouse was wired to explode with a signal that could be sent from his laptop straight to the wireless router up in the control room. All he had to do was prep it which he had done the night before. Once Ana was gone he'd leave through the access tunnel he had constructed that led to the sewers. Then he'd blow the place, and all evidence of him being there out of existence. That was always the Russian way of dealing with this kind of thing.

Anastasia flinched away from the keys when Aleksei tossed them toward her. A normal reaction probably would have been to try to catch them, but she was afraid he had been trying to hit her with them. They jingled slightly when they hit the mattress, and Anastasia looked at them for a moment before turning her attention to the tiger. “You can leave any time you’re ready. . . you can drive yes? Just push the red button next to the door and it'll open so you can drive the car out,” he called while heading up the stairs toward the little room he was holding himself up in. Anastasia opened her mouth to say something, then closed it again and picked up the keys, holding them in both hands as she stood up, her head turned toward the control room. “I—I thought. . . I thought you wanted to come with me?” she asked nervously, her voice wavering slightly. He had said that he’d wanted to take her and scope out the place, hadn’t he? Or had she just been that tired and delirious that she had made the entire thing up? Anastasia fidgeted with the keys in her hands, making them jingle lightly. It probably wasn’t attractive being this needy, but she couldn’t help herself sometimes.

Alek paused for a moment. He'd thought she'd be happy to be rid of him. Now she sounded as if she was worried that he was just letting her leave. Alek was never a touchy feely person. He was brought up to be tough and his life had always been hard, but it was all that he knew. Alek walked back down the stairs they creaked a bit under his weight. He weighed alot because of the amount of muscle that was packed into his frame. He got to the bottom and ran his fingers through his hair. "Look I said I wouldn't kill you, but if you stay around me much longer you'll likely be killed by someone. There's consequences to associating with someone like me and they aren't pretty." He stated as Nikolai's dismantled body popped into his mind. He probably would have been targeted regardless, but Alek always thought it his fault. Maybe if he was there he could have prevented it. Was this a similar situation. Would this girl die whether he left her or not? He didn't have time to think about such things. "Your not cut out for this world. Just pretend to be and live as a human and you should be fine" he stated as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and smiled.

“Look I said I wouldn't kill you, but if you stay around me much longer you'll likely be killed by someone. There's consequences to associating with someone like me and they aren't pretty,” the tiger said as he made his way back down the stairs and to the area she was walking. He didn’t seem angry; if anything he seemed a bit put off that she was expecting him to drive her home. Anastasia had a certain level of empathy were she could get the gist of what people were feeling, but it was only because she was constantly trying to make sure that people were happy and weren’t going to turn around and hit her because they were angry at her. She was always alert for what people were feeling. It was a defense mechanism, but it didn’t always work. Anastasia lowered her head slightly when he mentioned that it was dangerous for her to be around him, and she gripped the keys tighter with nervousness. They cut against her palm, but not hard enough to draw blood. “You’re not cut out for this world. Just pretend to be and live as a human and you should be fine.”
Anastasia looked up at him as he put his hand on her shoulder. He was smiling, and that was something she hadn’t seen him do at all since she’d first met him. She couldn’t help but return the smile with a sheepish version, but it fell again. “But I’m not human. . . no matter how much I want to be again. I’m not cut out for the life. . . but it’s the one I have now. Someone eventually is going to kill me no matter who I’m with,” she murmured quietly. It was a reality she had learned to cope with, but she’d never said it aloud before to anyone and it hit her hard. How much longer could she get away with living now that she had no one? She was alone and incapable of taking care of herself. It was only a matter of time. “I—I’m sorry. I shouldn’t. . . I shouldn’t bother you anymore. I’ll just go warm up the car and then get out of your hair.” Pulling away from the tiger, she went to the Impala and climbed inside, turning the car on to let it warm a little bit so it wasn’t riding straight from the cold.

Alek sighed and opened the laptop. He opened the command menu and typed in a script. By looking at him and knowing his background one would never think that he was computer savvy to the point of writing and executing his own programs. A timer with 4 minutes and 59 seconds popped up on the screen and began to count down. Alek grabbed a his 500 magnum off the wall and put it in his belt. Alek hit the red button that opened the door, then got in on the passenger side of the Impala. Alek hit the button to turn on the GPS but didn't bother messing with it since he didn't know her address. The garage door opened slowly and finally stopped. "It be good idea to drive now." He stated talking in English for the moment for no reason other than he wanted to get fluent at it. However if they weren't 200 yards or more from this place in the next 3 minutes neither of them would be speaking in any language ever again.

While she let the car idle, Anastasia trudged over to where she’d left her bag and her pile of cold, now-dry clothes. The shirt she was wearing was warm, but she still pulled out her socks and the shoes she’s been wearing so she wasn’t walking around bare foot anymore. The socks and shoes would warm up rather quickly, so she stopped shivering after a few minutes. Picking up her things, she made her way back to the car, trying not to bother Aleksei while he played on his computer. Pulling one of the back doors open, she tossed her bag in the back and then closed it. When she pulled away from the car, she saw Aleksei opening the garage door. Anastasia sighed, guessing it was some sign that she needed to leave, but then she noticed him packing up a bunch of his stuff. She watched him for a second, curious, then just sighed and climbed into the car, slamming the door shut once she was in. It took her a few seconds, but she eventually found the controls to the seat and she pulled it all the forward so that she could actually reach the dumb pedals.
Then, suddenly, the door to the passenger’s side was opened and Aleksei climbed in. She started with surprise, as she hadn’t expected him to be coming with her. Anastasia gave him a befuddled look for several seconds, and then he told her to drive in English. Anastasia furrowed her brow and took a second to adjust her rear-view mirror so she could see. “Okay,” she murmured quietly before shifting into drive and pulling the car through the garage and reaching the street. She was a safe driver so she wasn’t going too incredibly fast, but it enough to at least get out of the way of the blast that she wasn’t aware war coming. She was happy that he had decided to come with her: the ride wasn’t going to be so quiet and lonely. Well, it might be quiet, but at least she wasn’t driving alone. Coming up to a stop sign, Anastasia paused a little longer than needed in order for her to get her bearings. “What street is this. . . ?” she asked half to Aleksei and half to herself.

Alek pointed at the GPS which displayed the street name in Russian. Assuming she could read Russian as well as she spoke it. He glanced at the time on the CD player and couldn't help but think that he was finally going to die. Ana's defensive driving skills were gonna get him killed. He looked into the rear-view and saw a few figures dwelling in the shadows around the warehouse. They hadn't followed the car. Probably unsure whether or not he was still in there. A few moments later the warehouse district lit up as the laptop executed it's finally program, and sent the signal which detonated the charges. The blast was large and obviously more than was needed to destroy the building.
Alek watched the blaze through the rare view Mirror. He had liked the place. Now he would have to find somewhere new to set up shop. Not to mention a way to come across fresh supplies and munitions. He took a smoke out of his pocket and stuck it between if lips before reaching for the cigarette lighter and lighting it. He took a deep breath and cracked the window a bit so the smoke could get out. He wondered if he got all those bastards. He seriously doubted it.

His response was to point at the little GPS that Anastasia hadn’t realized existed until right then. “Oh. . . ,” she muttered, blushing bright red before figuring out what it said. She took a right turn and couldn’t help but look at the little GPS tracking thing, intrigued at the little map on it and the arrow telling her which way she was going. She didn’t drive a whole lot even though she had a car, hence the slow—well, she was going the speed limit—driving. The last thing she wanted was to die in a car accident after all she’d been through. It would probably be the easiest way for her to die, and better than being hunted down and shot like she was a deer out in the woods. She got off the road leading into the warehouses and picked up speed as she reached a more prominent street. Not many people were out in this district, so at least there weren’t a lot of other cars to worry about and she kept getting further and further away from the warehouse.
It was hard to miss the explosion. Anastasia let out a squeal and slammed her foot on the gas and the car lurched forward, slamming her back against the chair. There was a curve coming up ahead and a pole positioned on that curve, and Anastasia promptly slammed on the break to keep from running into it, making her snap forward against her seat belt as the hood dipped forward. When it reached a halt, it slammed back down on its back wheels and Anastasia slammed right back into the seat, shaking like a leaf, her eyes wide as saucers. She turned her head to look over the seat at what used to be the warehouse but was now a smoldering mass of nothing. Anastasia turned to look at Aleksei, her mouth open as if she wanted to say something, but words were failing her, so she shut her mouth and just stared at the steering wheel for several seconds, trying to stop her trembling.

Alek wasn't phased by her panicked driving. He was a strong believer in fate, and that when your time came it all you could do was accept it. After a few moments he placed a hand on her lap and squeezed her thigh gently. "Calm down, your in no danger right now, but if you keep driving like such I doubt we will make it to your home" He sated giving her his best reassuring grin which probably wasn't that great and was probably closer to a smirk or a sneer than anything. He wasn't used to smiling after all. Alek looked back at the devastation caused by his little setup of custom explosives. It probably would have been less impressive if that particular warehouse didn't have direct access to an underground natural gas line.
He removed his had from her lap and looked out through the window focusing on his reflection which looked back at him from the thin barrier of glass. In truth he was a little grateful that he had come with her. the subbasement he would have used to escape to the sewers was probably engulfed during the explosion. He hadn't calculated that the blast would have been so large. If he hadn't felt a tinge of compassion and joined her on this trip he would have went up in flames like the warehouse. Not that he would have minded, but then again it seemed at the time fate wanted him to live for just a bit longer.

Anastasia sat in the seat and attempted to calm down, taking deep, cleansing breaths while she sat there, her hands gripping the wheel so tight that her knuckles were turning white. It was a wonder that she hadn’t snapped the steering wheel in half already she was so tense. Slowly, Anastasia released the steering wheel, her fingers still curled slightly from how she was holding the wheel. She jumped slightly when she felt Aleksei’s hand on her leg and looked over at him, her heart rate spiking yet again. “Calm down, you’re in no danger right now, but if you keep driving like such I doubt we will make it to your home,” he assured her, giving her leg a reassuring squeeze before withdrawing the limb. It made her feel a little awkward with his hand there, but it was gone now and she kept trying to relax. She wasn’t going to get blown up, and she just needed to get home. “Oh-okay. Ah. . . alright,” she murmured. It wasn’t particularly intelligent, but she backed the car up to get it back on the road and then spun it around to continue on, trying to go a little faster this time in an attempt to please the tiger. “Why—why. . . ah. . . did you blow it up?”
