{I thought it would be interesting to write about how Amoura defeats her master, Darvulia. So...here....IT IS }
"All ab-o-o-o-ard!" A conductor called before the train wheels started spinning. The massive machinery started onward towards the Grand Canyon for the final rounds to pick up the last of the tourists. Some on the train were going there for backpacking at night yet one passenger wasn't inside.
On top sat a female with silver hair billowing in the wind, katana held close to her body, head bowed, face pressed gently against the sheath.
"You lie..."
A blond female standing an inch taller than Amoura laughed, "You heard me...I'm the reason why your husband is dead. I posed as a solider and slaughtered him like a pig."
"Why did you do that, Darvulia? You know how much he meant to me! WHY?!'
Amoura clenched her blade, teeth bared.
"I didn't appreciate the fact that you cared so much about him. It was always your husband this, your husband that...it sickened me! I knew that you were so close to awakening that thirst of blood you were born with and HE was in the way."
Amoura's blade dropped to the floor from shock. So...all along...her husband's killer...
The vampiress stood upon realizing she was drawing near to the Grand Canyon. Maroon colored eyes gazed out towards the vast area, trying to spot her master. Thus far, she hadn't appeared.
"I won't let you get away with this. I challenge you to a battle. Winner lives, loser dies."
Darvulia threw back her head and laughed, "You DARE challenge me? I'm over two thousand years old!"
"You think I care? I could care less if I die but I will give you a fight you will never forget."
"Very well...I accept your challenge..."
The train came to a stop and she leapt off, dashing to the nearest thick brush from passerbys. Both had agreed to meet here for their little showdown. Hopefully no one back in New York will notice she's gone. She had told Vicious and Shadows that there was..."unfinished business" farther out in the states and they accepted that without questions. Thank God.
Pedestrians passed by her hiding spot, heading towards the backpacking trail. Looks like she'll have to take a separate route from the humans, otherwise she'll be spotted. Off the Countess went, diving off the cliff. For a moment or two, her eyes remained closed, then shot open. The ground was coming up fast and it was time to keep herself from becoming severely injured.
Vines shot out from the canyon walls and knitted up below her, cushioning her fall. After jumping off, they curled up and sank back into the dry rocks, leaving not a trace of their presence. "Let's see..." eyes gazed about her surroundings, seeking out the proper direction to travel in. It was then she spotted a tiny flame dancing about fifty feet away. Must be Darv telling her where to go.
With a sharp nod, she darted towards it. As she drew close, it began flying off to the right, into a narrow area. Without much effort she managed to fit through and came into an opening, yet the flame still kept going. "This better not be a wild goose chase, Darvulia."
Now it was going up? Well...here goes nothing. Using her vampiric ability to defy gravity, she raced on up after it, coming to a large plateau. Then...the flame died and from the darkness emerged a blond female, "So...you came then."
Amoura narrowed her eyes, hand snapping towards the hilt of her katana, "You think I'd back down from a fight? You are mistaken, Darvulia."
Darvulia's black eyes sparkled in delight. Oh this was going to be good! "Well then, Elizabeth. Let's see what you've got. I haven't fought with you for a good four hundred years and I'm just ITCHING to see what you have learned."
Amoura's blade snapped out of the sheathe, "Prepare yourself, Darv. I'm not going easy and you better not hold back either. I don't care how old you are. I'm sure your cockiness kept you from making yourself stronger after all these years."
"Why make myself stronger when I have this...?" The female extended her palm and a ball of fire erupted forth, "I have become a master at wielding fire, Elizabeth. HAVE AT THEE!"
The fire raced towards the female but she was prepared for this attack. Up into the air she went, executing a front flip and landed gracefully on the ground, blade held out to the side. "After all these years...your movements are predictable."
"Really now...try this then."
Without warning, explosions erupted around the Countess, sending her flying back. Fuck! This was the last thing she would expect! So all along she had this place ready for her arrival?! Out of the smoke came Darvulia, wielding two sais. Crap. Two against one? This might prove to be a problem.
Give me strength to face the truth
The doubt within my soul.
She did have those daggers though...
Amoura swiftly put away her katana and withdrew her foot long, curved daggers. Just in time. They were crossed, preventing one from striking her atop the head. It was then she realized something: they were sharp as all hell! In movies the tip only seemed to be the deadly part but these? The edges were sharpened. Grand...
Darvulia pulled back and lunged towards her stomach but Amoura parried her move aside, spun and tried to strike for the collarbone. Her master arched, barely missing the tip. A few hairs were severed and fell to the earth...not much of a strike.
While her master was distracted from regaining her balance, she leapt up, flipped over and landed behind. Darvulia expected this and swiftly spun, knocking one dagger from her left hand. Amoura returned the favor and kicked one Sai from her master's right.
"I'm impressed. You learned much over the years. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. But I think we should use something else instead of these puny things."
Is it a sin to seek the truth, the truth beneath the rose?
Pray with me so I will find the gate to Heaven's door.
Darvulia drew a blade and tossed the other one aside idly, Amoura did the same. "Prepare yourself, Elizabeth..." Both charged simultaneously, weapons collided, sending sparks flying to the dry earth. Both spun, hoping to get the upper hand but once more, their blades struck. How long will this continue before one gets injured?!
The females paused, backed away and started circling, their gazes locked.
I believed it would justify the means
It had a hold over me.
Darvulia charged but rather than stabbing Amoura, she pushed her off the cliff! The Countess grabbed her master and threw her down as well; both began to free fall but the fight did not cease. With her master below, she dove down and swiped, only to have her move parried aside. Both locked blades, still free falling. The ground was coming up fast! With a snarl, Amoura kicked Darvulia away, spun and stabbed her blade into the wall. For a time she slid down, leaving a deep cut mark in the earth as she went. Finally coming to a stop, she looked to the other side to find that her opponent did the same thing.
They leapt towards each other, trying to score a hit but oddly enough? Both missed and ended up on opposite sides once more.
"It seems you and I are both skilled with the blade, too skilled."
"I didn't mess around for the past four hundred years, Darv. I trained for a long time for this day, holding back my power, reserving it. Now that you are here..." Katana went back into its sheath, "...it's time I show you just how powerful I am."
The earth began to shake and without warning, a large rock was flung towards her master. Off to the side she went, dodging it with ease. More and more headed in her direction, yet they were easy enough to avoid.
Yet this was only the beginning. Amoura was saving her cards for later.
Now back on the plateau, she waited for her master to arrive and to continue the battle. And here she comes, hands lit up in flames. Fireballs were thrown and a large slab of earth shot up, absorbing them. "You'll have to do better than that, Darv-GAH!!'" Shit! She forgot how fast she was! One fireball struck her in the back, sending her rolling away, writhing in pain.
"You were always weak, Elizabeth. I'm surprised that Shadows and Vicious allowed a PATHETIC being like you to help their plans." A sharp kick was executed to her ribs and once more, she began rolling away, trying to avoid another hit, "Ah, I remember the day I first laid eyes on you. I saw so much potential in you, Elizabeth."
She grabbed a handful of Amoura's hair and forced her to look up, "So close to awakening that beast you were born with. That desire to drink blood, to kill...destroy. It was your destiny, Elizabeth and it always will be. You denied it because of that husband of yours, DENIED WHAT YOU WERE!"
She threw Amoura over towards the edge, "That's why I killed that bastard. I wanted someone like you and yet, after turning you...you were still weak. That's why I turned you in, betrayed you...and now my dear...it's time to say goodbye..." She raised her arm, sai in hand, preparing to strike her in the heart.
The field of my dreams
Deceived all I have seen
Forgive me for what I have been
(Forgive me my sins)
But then a hand shot up, keeping the sai from striking. It was Amoura. Head bowed, she spoke, ”Weak? You’re the weak one, Darvulia. You kill to get what you want...I on the other hand kill for a purpose and...” Her head shot up, revealing an emotionless face, ”...for fun. You aren’t strong, Darvulia. Your strength is mainly in your words...AH!”
Darvulia had plunged her fangs into Amoura’s throat! Shit! The vampiress struggled against her master’s iron grip but she had let go after taking a small fill. What on earth was that about?
”We’ll see about that, Elizabeth...we’ll see.” She wiped her mouth clean and grinned, ”I did miss the taste of your blood. There’s something so...unique about it. I cannot describe it…Now stand, Elizabeth. I’m growing weary of this fight.”
Amoura stood, pressing one hand against her punctured neck. What can she do? Her weapons were scattered about and using her power over earth was predictable! This was a bad idea but...at least if she dies, she’ll die trying to avenge her love.
She charged but then the vampiress felt something stab her in the gut. Shit. It was a knife. Her strength was starting to wane at this point. How much longer can she keep this up?
”You know? I’ll give you a fighting chance. I recently mastered a new power, a rare feat for a vampire. If you win my little game...I’ll admit defeat.”
Then...there were ten copies of her Master! All of them surrounded the female, ”Go on. You get only one shot, love.”
Shit. They all smelled like her master and everything! How on earth is she going to figure out which one is the right one? Then...a memory came to her.

Vicious looked around closing his eyes and listening for subtle movements. Shutting eyes also let him focus on hearing her, and smelling the trace amounts of blood in her mouth, on her tongue, and in the corners of her lips.
That subtle sent was what gave her away. He chuckled for a minute or two, Found you. He said vanishing and then appearing in front of her, “Has anyone told you you're sloppy when you feed?”
***
THAT’S IT! Amoura closed her eyes, using her sense of smell to find her own blood. One knife emerged from her pocket as she continued circling, seeking out the real one. Then...”FOUND YOU!” With a little faith, she threw the knife towards her target and it became imbedded in her heart! The other illusions vanished, leaving the real one behind.
”How...how did you…” the vampiress fell to her knees, clutching the hilt of the knife.
”Has anyone told you you’re sloppy when you feed?” she teased. She’ll have to thank Vicious for that. Then her master fell, defeated, turning into a pile of ash...
Soon afterwards, rain started to fall from the sky.

A bouquet of flowers was placed upon an eroded grave not too far from an old castle. ”I have avenged your death, my beloved. Rest in peace.” Then the silver haired female turned and began to walk off. Yet, if one were to look closely, they’d notice another figure walking beside her...
On top sat a female with silver hair billowing in the wind, katana held close to her body, head bowed, face pressed gently against the sheath.
