Flying So High Above. Not A Care In The World _______________________ The news had saddened him and he was in constant thought throughout the entire flight to America. Unlike the other travellers in the sky, he was flying himself. Having rested for several days in preparation, he had begun the long and continuous flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Thought storms and calm he flew, his mind in a constant wonder. Over his life he had little tragedy, so Zakhar’s death was one of his first experiences of death this century. Whilst he had lost family against the Gorchakovs in the past war, it had been a century until he would experience the loss of a close friend. It was a long week until he landed safely in the mansion grounds, greeted by Urjasz and given a bed to rest in. Whilst now an expert at flying, the journey had taken its toll on his body and mind. To survive the journey he had to rely on small naps to get him through never sleeping for too long, the constant threat of crashing a burden on his mind. Once he was rested, he was treated to a meal in the house with Urjasz. He was yet to meet Anastasia, but he was keen to see the city he would be in for the next few years. Being dropped off by Urjasz, he got out in Times Square. Urjasz insisted that the best way to learn the city and its way of life was to simply jump in and go wherever your legs took you. Having always preferred to fly above the land first and then walk on it, Urjasz’s advice was hard to take on board at first. However, once he saw all the skyscrapers, soon had to agree that an aerial view would do him no good. And so he was on the streets, simply walking as told to. It was early night and he was observing the two worlds change over. Day timers were heading home and the night timers were heading out for the night, majority still sober at this point. Taking a seat on a bench, he took a deep breath. It was not the world he had imagined a century ago.

----------WELL I'VE BEEN DOWN ACROSS ROAD OR TWO but now i've found THE VELVET SUN IT SHINES ON ME AND YOU
Raven took in a deep breath. The smells of the Earth's reawakening filled her. The scent was more than pleasant. She had thought that perhaps winter was going to go on forever and none of them would ever be free from it's frigid hold. It wasn't too warm out that night, though no snow fell from the sky and for that she was grateful. It had been an uneventful day, something that was becoming rare as of late. She always found herself stuck at work. And with the type of crowd that rolled in and out of there, it was never a too mundane way to spend one's time. But she had this week and some of the next off. Only right as she had been working her ass off, something that was once again strange. Raven had always been the one to sit back and let others work. Perhaps it was the need to keep her mind off of more important things and focus on the mundane.
After dwelling at home for most of the day, Raven finally left her apartment. The sun had been up then, warming the ground with it's pleasant rays. She hadn't wandered so far, and seen so many things in such a long time. She missed her thirst for exploring, and was now thankful that she had found it again. Meandering around, she took in everything, though to the observer it would seem as if she was ignoring it all. The sites and smell of the city were familiar to her, yet since it had been so long since she experienced them, they were new at the same time.
Time passed and soon the sun was gone. As it started to vanish from the horizon, Raven fetched herself a coffee. Its warm liquid chased away the impending chill that threatened to wash over. Taking a seat on a bench she found only partly empty she gazed over the lid of her cup, watching the people pass by. She didn't notice, nor did it seem that she cared, that someone else was already seated on the other end of the bench.

Flying So High Above. Not A Care In The World _______________________ Malakai had been to America a few times before but he had only passed through New York once and even then it was a fleeting visit. The international hub of America, the entire world's culture in one place. Perfect for someone like Malakai with a thirst for knowledge. He had no idea how long he would be stationed in the city, although he didn't mind. The pay was very good and for such a basic task, he had no complaints. Paid to simply be here in case stuff goes down. Given that Urjasz was in the city they weren't fucking around with hiring the top dogs. It was a true compliment to be put in the same house as Urjasz. He only wished it had been under better circumstances. Yet to meet the new house owner, he hoped for an eventful night. Urjasz had gone off to get drunk and in some kind of test Malakai had to find his own way home. Deciding that he would give it an hour of wandering before attempting to head home, his thoughts were interrupted with the arrival of a young lady at his side. Turning to look at her, he said nothing at first, yet she didn't seem to spot him. To anyone he would look like a member of the public but his yellow tinted eyes gave him away to anyone who knew what to look for. "The true traveler is he who goes on foot, and even then, he sits down a lot of the time." It was an odd thing to start with but it was the kind of statement that would catch many people's full attention. To make friends you first have to put yourself out there and he figured if he was to be rejected they might as well come off looking like bastards. "My name is Malakai. And yes, you can sit there" he greeted and lightly teased her.

Raven tilted her head back for a moment, her eyes closed as she simply breathed. The weather was beautiful and she was taking her time to enjoy it. Every gust of the wind, or the sound of each footstep on the pavement a few inches from her, she took notice of it all. Very few people took time to actually sit back and take it all in before they rushed on with their lives. This gentle balance between the passing winter and the oncoming summer that was called Spring was wonderous in it’s own way. The weather couldn’t be called anything less than perfect. Not too hot, not cold. Just the right temperature to take it all in and breathe.
But that moment to herself wasn’t to last long. A voice pulled her from her thoughts. Opening her eyes she glanced over finally realizing that there was man on that bench there with her. His comment was…odd… to say the least. No one ever started off a conversation with a saying such as that. Hell, most people in this city didn’t bother to start a conversation with anyone in the first place. It did it’s job though, and did catch her attention.
“Raven,” she offered her name in return, more out of surprise than in general kindness. “I wasn’t aware that this bench was under any sort of ownership,” she said looking as if there might be a name scribed on it somewhere. There were several names scrawled over it, infact. Graffiti from other teens who had plopped here. She also noted that his name was odd. He obviously wasn’t from around here if he was being so friendly. Perhaps he was from a different country all together.

Flying So High Above. Not A Care In The World _______________________ Offering her own name back, one that was not that common in his memory of names, he smiled and nodded in acknowledgement. "I wouldn't know if it's owned by someone. I'm not from around here you see. I'm from England." A common stereotype of the Americans in England was that they would spot an Englishman a mile away and fall in love with the accent. There was always exceptions to the rule and one of his associates from Australia had proved this. Whilst travelling through America with an English friend, they had been stopped by some Americans who claimed to love their accents. For a laugh he had asked them to guess who was English and who was Australian. Claiming that was easy, they had called his friend Australian and him English. Apparently the Australian accent was the same in their ears to the English accent. (side note - true story, friend had this happen) "I hope I wasn't interrupting anything important. You seemed to have been fairly submerged in your mind. Were you planning to meet someone here or have you been sent my way by fate?" His words, although unusual, were curious like a small child wanting answers but too polite to ask directly. It came across to him as the make or break moment of the conversation. They could either go back to sitting there or he could make conversation, hopefully continuing the meet some more. "This city is quite a crowded place. It's possible to not be seen by anyone in a crowd of thousands. It seems polite to at least speak to one person." Speaking softly, he trailed off, looking to where she had been looking. Unsure of what she had been looking at, he looked back to her for any answers she may give.
