The Character Talents
::STRENGTHS::
1. Jump Leylines (to teleport and travel)
2. Acid Spray
3. Psionic Blast
4. Replace body parts with other forms
::SUMMARY::
Zaros can do all the demon abilities, from changing to his demon form in the human world to block thoughts being read but there’s four he feels he excels in. Because of his old curse, he hates wasting time travelling so the use of teleportation through the means of leylines is key to his survival. Although it is a means of travel, it is also a means of hunting his prey. Disappearing into one shadow and emerging from another, his intended target would never know which direction he was coming from. Unlike many other demons, strength is replaced with speed so the need for a stealth like movement is important to him. Had he not been blessed with this power he would of died many years ago.
Even though his favourite means of killing is through tearing a person limb from limb in a frenzied attack, another method is burning the person alive in his own produced acid. The acid he contains is the typical demonic acid, capable of burning through all known substances, manmade or other. Both his spit and his talons are full of acid, the two places it comes from mainly. If a target is moving at a quick pace and he’d risk harm by tackling, he will spray them with a quick vomit of acid, burning them alive as they run. The more they move, the more it burns. Having established his favourite way of killing, he discovered that he could seep acid from his talons, a most helpful tool when attacking. As the acid meets the skin of the target, it helps make the cut like knife through melted butter.
Psionic blast. Not so much a means of killing, but torture. If he feels he has time on his hands, he will toy with the prey like a cat would. There’s different levels of the blast, ranging from a quick stun to a full blown torture involving incredible pain in the mind. The person won’t be experiencing true pain, their mind would make them think they are. He also has the ability to make people forget memories but this doesn’t mean they can’t learn the memories again. He can choose if he does real damage to them or not, though often if he’s toying with them he doesn’t want to risk killing them. He’s more likely to use damage as an escape route, to keep the person/demon from getting to him.
Because of his smaller build, compared to other demons, he has the ability to replace damaged body parts with other parts, whether it’s biological or not. His skin is more alive than a human’s, actively attaching to anything pressed against it. He can control if it lets go as well, so the old mishaps of getting stuck to walls no longer happens. A torn off limb will grow back if left to its own devices, but if something is connected to where it once was, it will merge with the attachment and bring it to life. Though his body is a solid matter, it has the characteristics of a liquid one, able to store body parts taken from kills within his skin, though a limited capacity is in effect. This applies to his human body too.
::WEAKNESES::
1. Walk on holy grounds
2. Enter a blessed home or grounds
3. Listen to bible versus if the speaker is a true believer, else, won't work
4. Decline being summoned if true name is called
::SUMMARY::
Because of his curse put upon him, religion is a big hatred of his. He feels it is a block on his entertainment but cannot help but abide by the rules. It is like there is a shield around holy grounds; he is unable to cross over onto the holy grounds even if he takes a running start. Teleportation doesn’t work inside them either, the air above sealed from his entry. There are two levels of protection from Zaros and holy grounds is the top level.
The lower level, still effective but not as much, is blessed homes and grounds. Unlike the blessed grounds he can enter these, however within seconds he will start to bleed acid from all over his body, his body would begin to separate and flee for the safe ground. It cannot kill him, but the pain it’d cause him would be unbearable. A blessed home has the distinct smell of religion, so there is no chance of him accidently walking into one. If he is held inside a blessed building, he will do everything to get away, killing anyone who gets in his way, absorbing their body parts to try stay alive until he reaches the outside.
Unlike the blessed and holy grounds, people on actual belief are still open to attack from Zaros. But, should they recall any verses from the bibles, he will be put into a frenzy of pain, often resulting in his trying even harder to kill the person. If he cannot kill them after a few minutes he will have to retreat, his pain threshold on the verge of breakdown. Once more he can’t kill him, but it’s like a spray used to deter bugs to him. A few verses and he’ll be annoyed, even more and he’ll start to feel the pain. A whole page and he’ll be writhing in pain, cursing the person with all the curses at his disposal. Often a person who uses the verses will become a target for him, revenge a key part of his personality.
To summon Zaros his true name needs to be repeated three times in a summoning circle. Once summoned, he can only be summoned by the person who summoned him until his job is done. If anyone else summons him, he has the choice of going to them or not. A man of the trade, if he is summoned he will demand an exchange for his services. Souls or flesh often tempt him, but in recent times technology has fascinated him. Knowledge is a key to survival in the demon world, so information about the world is exchangeable too, though he prefers the more unusual things.
The More Human Side of Things
Human Appearance
::HAIR:: Scruffy dirty blonde, with half sideburns[/blockquote]
::EYES:: Ice Blue
::HEIGHT:: 6’1
::WEIGHT:: 182 pounds
:MARKS:: None
::SKIN TONE:: White
::BODY TYPE:: Stealth
::CLOTHES:: Smart/Victorian
::SUMMARY::
Zaros likes to come across as well dressed, but his body’s appearance is fairly scruffy in a rogue style. Despite not being able to enter the human world for 666 years, souls that came through to their realm revealed the fashion of the world above and he was quite taken by the Victorian style. He liked its ability to be so dark and gloomy yet so smart and powerful. As the world above got brighter, he got darker, trapped in the pits of hell. Sometimes he would dress in Victorian clothes whilst still in demon form, just to scare the humans sent down to them. It unnerved them to see the familiar made so creepy. With his Victorian outfits and his scruffy appearance, he has the look of a mad scientist. In the new world, he looks strange but with such diverse cultures in one world, no one thinks too much about it.

::EYES:: Pure White
::HEIGHT:: Stood upright, 13 foot, on all fours, 7 foot
::ABNORMALITIES::
He has a tail, can produced talons from his skin, his tongue can extent to several metres and his wings fold into his body, wing span of 30 foot when they are extended
::SKIN TONE:: Slimy, soft with points of rough skin
::BODY TYPE:: Slim and lanky
::CLOTHES:: Not usually any, but Victorian if in clothes
::SUMMARY::
Unlike other demons, he does not keep his wings on the outside of his body. Because of his ability to merge with objects put against his skin he can fold his wings inside his body, making it easier to hide them when in human form. Often he likes to mould his right arm into a bone sword, the skin falling from his bone onto the floor around him and the bone itself changing shape. A minor power in his eyes, but a fun toy none the less. He prefers to run on all fours, but will talk on his hind legs. When he stands on his hind legs, he’s either upright or hunched over. When frightened or by choice, he can produce spikes from his body as a defence mechanism. Despite the wings, he prefers to travel by teleportation, which is why often he’ll be seen without them. When he wears Victorian clothes, they tend to be too small in length so parts of his body, like lower arms, lower legs and stomach tend to show. His method of draining souls from bodies is to attach his tongue to the skull and then he sucks their soul from their body. If they are still alive when he does this, they die shortly after.

::SUMMARY::
Where as most demons love to install fear and chaos to a general surrounding, Zaros prefers to select one at a time, though it’s not unknown for him to do it to entire groups before. Because he likes to toy with his intended victims, he enjoys a good chase. If he catches them first he tears them apart and then drinks their soul from their body with his tongue. The thrill of the chase is almost a motto in itself to Zaros. The more fear he installs the more of the soul he can take. This is not to say he can’t the souls of those who aren’t scared, but the fear gives it that extra flavour. Due to the constant curses and banishments, this new found freedom is one of his greatest moments in life. The world is now his playground, the only limit to his activities the day. Quite often he would teleport to the other side of the world as one side became day, so that he could constantly feed.
Hell is home to all demons, but after being sealed in there like some form of house arrest, it soon became a prison for the demons also. From the world of purgatory, hell was one extreme that Zaros didn’t want to have. Preferring the best of both worlds, the day he was made to choose sides will forever be a strong memory in his mind. Associating all religions with that of the other side, he has a strong distaste for those of a religious nature, believing that God is the true devil, disguising the true horrors of his nature through the use of hell. Because of his thirst for souls, due to curses and the such, he feels he has to collect as many as he can before his time runs out. He isn’t used to having all the time in the world, an added sense of power to his new found freedom.
Zaros is a stealth hunter, but this can commonly be mistaking for creepy behaviour. Lurking in the shadows, watching the same person for hours on end, waiting to strike. This come across as very creepy to many demons and humans alike. He believes he is just hunting in his natural manner, but even in his social environment he accidently incorporates some of these mannerisms into his body language and behaviour. It doesn’t help that he often hears voices that aren’t there. Originally he believed it to be the voice of the devil, or even God himself taunting him, but over the years he realised that it was inside his head. After a few more years, he began to communicate with the voices, listening to what they said, doing things they told him to do. He believes they are the souls he has eaten, but the truth is much darker. Because of this he is often considered rude, telling people what he really thinks or even what the voices say. He tries to have manners but often his true feelings just come through. Sometimes he may even quote what the voices said uncontrollably.
Fortunately, not everything about Zaros scares people off. It is common knowledge that a demon is loyal to whoever summons him whilst there is work to be done, but once the work is done, the demon often hunts down those who summoned them. Zaros prefers to keep them alive as he feels they are ways into the human world. In exchange for their souls upon death, he will keep them alive as long as he can so that his path to the world is not closed once more. Whether this works or not, no one is sure. Common sense, aka avoiding big holes when others are too busy putting signs around it, is a survival code for any demon. If you do something stupid, odds are that you’d pay with your life. Luckily for Zaros, he isn’t completely creepy/insane, having a cheeky side. Though it may borderline with creepy behaviour sometimes, he likes to take the piss in a friendly way, having witty comebacks to insults that befall him.

::HISTORY::
Chapter One – Birth
In the beginning, there was nothing. Then one day some geezer got fed up of nothing to do so he made the world as we know it. Or so they say. Zaros was the first demon of purgatory, the realm designed to hold the people who could sway one way or the other, from good to bad. He was always told by those sent there from the heavens above that all of this was brand new, but something didn’t seem right. The world has always been there, it just needed the life to live upon it. Below him, there was the dark realm of hell, where no one ruled at this point. These places had always existed; it was just the first time that life of sorts had chosen to stay in these strange places. Because he was created by some higher power, he was an adult from birth, no need to grow from the tiny infant. Purgatory needed to be run from the off, and along with thousands of other demons and angels, it was for them to try sway them to their side, each with its pros and cons. This was his lifestyle for many years, training embedded in his mind from the start. He wasn’t the strongest, he wasn’t the leader of some clan, he was just another soldier in the fight for darkness. But a soldier without a leader.
Chapter Two - War
Zaros never considered himself special, but he wasn’t alone in question what they were fighting for. Why should they be condemned to lurk in the shadows and to turn a human’s soul to something evil? What had they ever done to God? They simply did his dirty work, what he didn’t want to be associated with. It seemed that they were not alone in this way of thinking. Angels too were becoming sick of doing the bidding of a God who had never rewarded them. There was greed and then there was simply being naïve to someone taking advantage of you. As the humans on the ground below were still finding their feet, the skies above were at boiling point. A third of all God’s angels rebelled against him with the help of the demons of purgatory. Zaros was on the battlefield with Lucifer, but it was not a fight that could be won. God banished the angels at Lucifer’s side to the pits of hell and those from purgatory to remain there forever. From that day on any angel that disobeyed God was sent to the pits of hell to join Lucifer.
Chapter Three – Exposure
At the start of time, humans were aware of God’s existence, but over time this belief soon faded and they created their own gods to replace him or to answer the unsolved mysteries of life. When God opened the portal to hell, he accidently created other portals that could be controlled by human and demon alike. Zaros was one of the first to investigate this new world and to see the humans in their living states. Such fresh stock, it was too hard for them to resist. Great civilisations began to worship them, and they had humans sacrifice themselves as deals for power. Each demon would pretend to be a god of a certain power, each rewarded with souls. Zaros claimed he was the god of darkness, claiming that if they didn’t offer him souls that the shadows would eat them in the night. Those who denied him would be killed from within the shadows that Zaros travelled. They did not know but they had discovered the Egyptian cities and found that they could take their demon forms around these people. God was too busy with his own issues to bother sorting them out, but sent angels to other places to keep the human faith. Zaros and the others lived the life of luxury, never wanting to return to purgatory.
Chapter Four – The First Coming
This life of luxury was not to last, though Zaros wanted it to. First the lands they had chosen to conquer soon became the home of “God’s People”, which Zaros found very convenient. The people who worshipped them were plagued by things the demons could not stop, their cover of being gods quickly uncovered. As the demons were turned on, God saved his new found people of God. Forced to return to their own realms, Zaros continued the job of converting human souls to the dark side. To show the demons that what they had done was wrong, God decided that angels would have their turn on the earth. The demons had controlled it for several centuries, God planned to allow the angels to do the same. His son was born of his creation and he placed him on the earth below. Lucifer tried in vain to have him killed as a child, but it was later in his life Zaros was called in. Judas, one of the disciples, was seen as the weakest link. Zaros went to Judas and convinced him to betray Jesus. The rest was quite literally history. Judas hung himself shortly after, his soul sent to hell.
Chapter Five – The Curse
Zaros believed that he had gotten away with converting Judas to the dark side but it was not to be. Angels had their promised time on earth taken from them and some joined Lucifer believing God had lied to them. God, furious with this, decided that he would punish Zaros for his part in it. With the devil at his side, God gives him the choice of two weeks every year to enter the human world and he can choose what days. With a smile upon his face, he chose the two weeks from Christmas onwards as a silent fuck you. God, who had to hold his word, agreed but banned him from ever entering the realm of heaven. From day onwards he had to stay in purgatory on any days other than the two weeks he asked for.
Chapter Six – Purgatory
Whilst the arch-angels from heaven and demons from hell fought one another for the souls of the deceased, Zaros decided he would go for a simpler route. Whilst he agreed with what the demons said about the angels being self righteous pricks, he felt they were going the wrong way about it. Freedom and being able to make your own choices were all very well, but if you always had to be angry when you did things, it grew old fast. As the two sides fought, Zaros found that trading with both sides worked out best for him. Souls, weapons, power, it was all for sale. If one side needed a certain soul to be collected, Zaros would do it for them. It was the purgatory version of an assassination, the soul harvested for sale. If the opposing side offered more, then he may offer them the soul instead. He had no alliance to either side, both had fucked him over at some point. They thought they were better than each other but they were the same.
Chapter Seven – The Beginning Of The End
It was God’s time on Earth. The Christian faith, along with the Jewish faith, were becoming main religions and angels were making more trips to Earth. God played on the human’s paranoia and soon demons became feared and portrayed as the bad guys. Zaros would find on his two weeks on Earth that after just a week there would be hunters tracking him, trying to kill him before he went back to purgatory. He knew they couldn’t kill him, but he found the travelling to be……uncomfortable. Soon the Greeks began to believe in his existence heavily as he favoured that area to hunt, the heat being a nice change from purgatory but not too cold. As time went by, different faiths took over, countries were ruled by different people and every time he went back, it was a whole new world completely. Even in purgatory, he was not safe. Demons hell bent on chaos and Angels set on killing a being who kills innocents ruled the land. Business, if he could call it that, was soon becoming tricky as the fight for control became fierce. Zaros believed that neither side would ever win, for it would void the use of purgatory and there would be nowhere to convert the lost souls.
Chapter Eight – The Seal
Purgatory was the perfect place for Zaros. It wasn’t as dangerous as the pits of hell and it wasn’t bound by the rules of heaven. However, Zaros would travel to hell on occasion to seek a lost soul who may of slipped past him. Hunting on forbidden land, any demon that came across him had the right to kill him, a most inconvenient factor in his hunts. Those who went to heaven were lost to him, a factor that strongly encouraged his sense of making use of time. On one of his hunts into hell, an event that affected them all was about to come about. Unknown to him, a seal was being placed upon hell, with him inside. The human souls could enter still but no soul or being could leave. Those left in purgatory were left with no help converting the souls, meaning that heaven had a stronger grip of Earth. As the seal closed, demons made frantic bids to escape, thousands of them pouring towards the seal as it closed, many being crushed to death by the others. Once the seal closed, those who were trapped inside believed they would be there forever. One day they knew it would fill up, the growth of hell stopped by the seal. When they day came, they would all die slowly.
Chapter Nine – Six Hundred and Sixty Six Dark Years
Darkness. This was all that was in hell for those long years. No light, no hope. Even the demons themselves truly were in their own hell. It was a prison with no food, entertainment or anything to pass the time. Chaos and death were as close to any of those for them all, the human souls killed and tortured over and over, brought back from death to have it done all over again. Zaros, who was still in forbidden territory, could only spend the cursed time to feed, run and hide. He was no fighter, not in the sense of close combat one on one fighting. Stealth was his weapon and the darkness harnessed that even more. Many demons within hell were at some point human, their very nature turning them into a vile species. When he wasn’t on the run, Zaros heard each demon’s story. There were stories of lost loves, plotted revenge and betrayal from those they once loved. An increasingly common story was betrayal by a human that had summoned them, another form of passing the time. Choosing to remain in hell, fearing that his travelling would catch the attention of those out to get him, his name soon became a mere myth, the fighters of the demon a more popular choice of summoning.
Chapter Ten – First Light
Each demon has their own story. Each wants to be different from the next. Zaros believed himself to be just another demon and he was proved right when he shared a moment with the entire realm. There was a portal opened, the curse lifted from their realm. Now the true meaning of that number made sense. 666. The number of years in their prison sentence. As other demons poured out into the dark world, Zaros was cautious. His home, or so he believed, was in purgatory, yet here was the chance to enter the human world. Believing he was still cursed by God, it took several weeks to risk entering the world. As he stepped through the portal, he waited to be struck down where he stood, but it did not happen. His time was done and now he had the world to see. Having watched the world change through the souls that had fallen to hell, he was not completely idle to this new world, but by hell, it was a whole new world to the worlds he had seen before. In the old times when electricity was hard to find to this new world which run on it, it was the playground he had always waited for. Now is his time. Just another soldier of purgatory. Living the demon dream.

_______________________
So much space. It was the first thing that Zaros noticed. The sheer size of it all. Nearly seven hundred years inside a dark cave and now he was outside, where the sky had no limit. Central park. What a place to enter the world. At first glance you can see trees, grass, water, and then when you look higher, the towers that touch the sky were all around. It was a jungle within a concrete jungle. Zaros was stood in the middle of the grass, half hidden from the lamp that stood near him, dressed in a dull Victorian suit, minus the hat. It was his favourite fashion that had passed through the gates of hell and he soon felt out of the world as people passing by gave him odd glances. Stepping into the light, he looked around at the youthful humans passing by. The light above burned his eyes, but he watched the people carefully, as if to decide which to go for. It had been so long since he had tasted a human soul, especially a fresh one. Stepping out of the light, he moved to the next lamp through the darkness along side the path. Turning to watch the first lamp, he stood under the back of this second lamp. A young, pretty girl was heading his way, headphones in her ears, miles away. As she stepped under the lamp, he teleported through the lamps, pulling her up in the light in an instant.
Dropping out of a lamp several miles away, he was in the abandoned buildings. The girl was screaming, shocked by what had happened, throwing up, not used to the teleportation. Consuming the light from the lamp, the bulb smashed above them as he shifted into his demon form, the clothes merging with his body, sucked inside. As she took out her phone to phone for help, his tongue stuck itself in through her forehead. Climbing up the lamp, he pulled her up by his tongue, her body twitching as he sucked her soul from her body. Dropping it to the floor, he shifted back to his human form, his clothes emerging from his body. Adjusting his collar, he left the alleyway and made his way towards the main city streets. Fed, he was now curious about this new world and everything inside it. Tonight would be an adventure without the constant worry of another demon trying to eat you. Would he find a friend or make an enemy? Only time would tell. Something that he did not intend to waste….
