Where Your Abilities Fall
The Character Talents
::Strengths::
1. Singing
2. Dog Whisperer
3. Nimble
4. Observation
5. Dangerous in Wolf Form
::Summary::
She has a few normal talents that a few people would have. She has an amazing singing voice, and it often kept her sane when she was trapped in that room the werewolf brothers and their vampire friend kept her in. She would often sing to herself to keep her morale up, and it entertained her kidnappers so that they would give her gifts for singing to them. Anzu is always quite nimble. She’s quick and can sometimes appear to pop up out of nowhere because of how small and agile she is. Sometimes she can even contort her limbs into doing things no normal person can do, as she had nothing better to entertain herself with other than working on her flexibility and keeping in shape while she was locked up.
There is one very strange quirk about her. It is like the call of the wild ability that quite a few of her brethren have, but it goes one step further. Not only can she call wolves to herself, but she can call other dogs to her and can even speak to them. She understands them, and has a certain sort of connection with them, so that they understand her. She can tell you when they want attention, when they want out, when they’re trying to tell you that they love you, and when they want to be fed. She can hold conversations with them, even if she’s just speaking plain English or Japanese to them and they’re barking or growling at her.
Her power of observation is phenomenal. She can recall great bits of data at a time, even if no one thinks she noticed it. It’s almost like a photographic memory, but she just remembers detail after looking at something for a few second. The longer she sees a scene, the more she remembers from them. She recalls it on a whim, not even thinking twice about it. She could tell what color a car was, what the headlights and taillights look like, even what shape it was, and she might even make up a quick sketch of it. She’s no grand artist, but she doesn’t draw stick figures. Most of her talent resides in her ability to recall detail and put it down.
The only time this girl can be considered dangerous is when the full moon is up. She has no control over her shifts or herself when she does shift. She never remembers what happens, but it is quite awful. Anzu does not discern friend from foe in this form, and she will not hesitate to kill anyone and anything. Her wolf form is quite strong strength wise, and her speed is top-notch. Though she knows no real style of fighting, nothing of the sort is needed when she’s in wolf form. It’s all teeth and claws with her.
::Weaknesses::
1. Smarts
2. Submissive
3. Impressionable
4. Short Attention Span
::Summary::
She’s not the brightest crayon in the box. Anzu was never schooled, so she doesn’t know anything about math, reading, writing, geography, nothing. For the longest time after escaping her captors, she thought she was still in Japan, even though they’d taken her to America! The only thing she was schooled on was how to speak English, which she is fluent in, but her accent is quite prominent and she speaks strangely at times. She can’t read, she can’t write, and the simplest things that even a five-year old know, she does not.
Anzu is very submissive and impressionable. She takes everything any one says to heart and can be made to believe anything. Because she grew up locked up in a room unless she was needed by her captors to lure out an especially crafty hunter, she didn’t grow up with any sort of morals, and she never had the chance to stand up for herself. She doesn’t like to fight back because she was normally struck for doing that, and pain in a great teacher. If you do something and you get hurt for it, then you should stop doing it! With her lack of morals, she is quite vulnerable to either side. . . good or evil, and she would never know the difference.
Unfortunately, she has a very short attention span. If anyone tries to tell her a story that lasts more than a minute, or a lecture that lasts more a minute, her mind will start to wander and she will lose everything that they were trying to tell her. She may be good at retaining things she sees, but things she hears is not as easy to remember. Even though she has a short attention span, this doesn’t keep her from recalling detail in a scene if anyone asks.

::Summary::
She’s just your average Asian girl. She has long, light brown hair—or dark brown, depending on how the lighting is—and her eyes are about the same brown color as her hair, maybe a little darker. Anzu has a small frame, standing at an even fight feet and weighing only one hundred and five pounds. She wasn’t fed a whole lot when she was under lock and key, even when she was in her wolf form. She should weigh a little more, and she’s starting to get her weight up now that she can eat whenever she really wants to. A lot of it from her rampages in her wolf form, but she’s getting there.
When she was locked up, she really only ever wore one outfit, but when she escaped, she was given enough money from her vampire friend to buy new clothes and as much food as she could. This was to pay her off for never causing much problems and for doing what she was told when her captors were using her as bait. She’s used all of that money getting to New York and getting her clothes and a couple of meals here and there. She’ll wear anything she thinks looks cute and hip.

::Summary::
Anzu is very much a child at heart. Because she never really had to grow up and was never taught anything, she acts more like a ten-year-old than a nineteen-year-old. She likes sweets—candies and chocolates—and anything she deems cute. A kitten, a puppy, all forms of baby animals. She especially loves to sing to herself. She’ll sing whenever she hears a song she knows, when she’s alone, when she’s around people, and anytime, really. Most of the time this is accompanied by skipping down the street in some pretty dress. Anzu doesn’t like being yelled at and does what she can to keep this from happening, and it often makes her cry. Lizards and bugs creep her out.
The strangest thing about Anzu is her opinions on violence. It is the one thing she refuses to do—unless forced to do so otherwise with some sort of incentive (being yelled at or getting hit for not complying)—but she doesn’t care when other people are violent. She doesn’t like it when people hurt other people, but she won’t get upset over it. She might get a little scared, but otherwise she won’t bat an eyelash. If she thinks she’s not in danger, then she doesn’t care. You could kill a man in front of her and she would only ask you why you’d done it.
Very much female and very much childlike, Anzu tends to be very gullible and emotional. Because she was never learned in any subject, she believes anything you tell her. She pretty much knows what the different colors are and how to add and subtract small numbers—though she needs to use her fingers—because Owen taught her a few things when he was being kind. It isn’t hard to make her cry, make her happy, or make her angry. Though, she doesn’t like to go against other people’s wishes often, and she will always do whatever others want of her in order to avoid conflict, even if she doesn’t want to do it.
She’s a really sweet girl. She wouldn’t hurt a fly unless her life was being threatened or the life of someone else she really cared about. Once you make friends with her, or make her yours, she will always be loyal and faithful, and she is very easy to get along with because she doesn’t mind making friends. Actually, it’s almost hard to get rid of her once you’ve shown interest in making her your friend. She tends to follow people around like a lost puppy dog, because, well, that’s what she is.
Checking Out the Background
Historical Stuff
::Family Members::[/size]
Akito Katsukawa—Father—Dead
Ayana Katsukawa—Mother—Dead
Hayden Steele—werewolf
Christopher Steele—werewolf
Owen Peterson-vampire
::Birth Place::
Fukuoka, Japan
::Childhood::
It was a short childhood. Her parents were killed and she was kidnapped when she was only five years old, and from there she was secluded from everyone and the only contact she got was when she was fed. The vampire would come and talk to her, and give her toys and give her some attention, keeping her from being a sad little girl.
::Transformation::
Both of her parents were werewolves, so she was born this way.
::Prey::
She eats normal human food in her human form, but in her wolf form, she discriminates against no one.
::Moon Tidings::
She has absolutely no control over her wolf. She was never taught control, and she hasn’t figured out how to do it on her own. Most of the time she wakes up with no memory of the shift and what she did while shifted, which is usually massacring a small village.
::Turning Others::
She has never turned anyone before, as she usually leaves them dead or dying, so they never get the chance to shift. However, if she were to try, she would have to bite them. Her saliva will do.
::History::
She was born to two werewolves, Akito and Ayana Katsukawa on June 19, 1940 and lived with them for a short five years in Fukuoka, Japan. This was enough for her to learn the language and know that they were her parents, but that was it. Before she even had time to really grow up and start having a life, a small band of friends used the hectic events of World War II to kill Anzu’s parents and kidnap her for their own use. The group was made up of two werewolf brothers—Hayden and Christopher—and their friend Owen—a vampire. They had no other real reason to take her other than they needed a small young girl who was some form of immortal, and upon hunting for someone, they came across Anzu’s family.
Though she was very upset at the time that her parents were no longer around—the three came into their house one night and killed her parents in their sleep and whisked her away before she woke up—the trio told her that they had important business to take care of and had given her to them to take care of. Being only five, she accepted this, hoping one day that her parents would return to her. They never did, but Anzu questioned it only once, earning her a nice smack from one of the brothers. She never asked again.
The years went by and she was locked inside a room, forced to stay there and never come out. It had only one bed in it and a small basket for her dirty clothes—she only ever had one or two outfits at a time, as the three of them didn’t want to waste their money on her. Because Anzu was so young at the time, her wolf powers had not yet flourished and she was too young to really understand it when her parents tried to explain it to her. The two werewolves, nor the vampire, ever took the time to tell her, so she grew up oblivious to the fact that she was a werewolf.
On her nineteenth birthday, however, she had her first shift, her powers finally came into play. None of her captors let her out, so when she woke that morning, she woke to nothing but a torn mattress and one less outfit. Chris nor Hayden were going to get her new clothes, but Owen took pity on the poor child and brought her a bunch of new outfits. This was where their friendship really started, and he began to bring her more and more things, not just clothes. He brought her a mirror, some stuffed animals, picture books—she couldn’t read as no one would take the time to teach her, but she liked the pictures.
After her first full moon, her kidnappers decided to use her as bait for the hunters moving around. After taking Anzu from her parents, they had moved back to America. So, she grew up knowing nothing about Japanese culture other than eating with chopsticks and speaking the language. The few nights they took her out, she failed to draw any sort of attention from hunters, but Owen kept her from getting punished for it by saying it was good for her to get out. She never really learned anything about the area—they were in Pennsylvania—as she was allowed out only at night and there was barely anyone walking around.
So, for her second moon, they allowed her out of her sturdy room. She created quite the devastation, and finally she had the attention of the hunters. Unfortunately, Anzu was still unaware of what she really was. Each moon she woke up with no memory of what she did, and she was always back in her room, locked up with a breakfast waiting for her. With neither of the men living with her aging, she thought nothing of her own unchanging features, thinking it normal, and no one ever really told her. Owen might have, but it was the one thing Chris and Hayden would not tolerate. They thought that if she didn’t know what she was, it was less likely that she would retaliate against them. They let Owen have their fun time with her, getting all buddy buddy to make her happy, but they wouldn’t let him spill the beans.
So, from then on, Anzu was allowed outside from time to time at night. Every few weeks—sometimes every few months—a brave hunter would try to take her out. Every few tries they would almost successfully kill her, but either Owen or one of the brothers would keep that from happening. The brothers didn’t care so much whether she lived or died, they just happened to stop the hunters at the right time. Owen was the only one who really wanted to keep her alive. He was even starting to feel sorry for killing her parents and taking her hostage—if only because Anzu was still so happy. He thought it was wrong that she was happy with them.
Anzu really thought of these people as her friends and family. She did what she could to make them happy, and they eventually started to let her out of her room to help with the cleaning. She quickly learned to cook—though she was no master chef—and Owen and her relationship began to take on a brother-sister quality. Chris and Hayden still didn’t allow her to eat full meals—thinking that they had to keep her strength down so she wouldn’t become a problem—but Owen started to slip her snacks every now and again without their knowledge.
After several decades of this, Owen got tired of risking Anzu’s life all the time. He schemed for days behind his friends’ backs, and when the time was right, he helped Anzu escape. She didn’t think of it as escaping, but Owen knew she didn’t know anything else. He believed Anzu needed to get out into the world and discover who she really was. So, he bought her a plane ticket to New York, telling her that there would be others like her there who could help her. She didn’t want to leave, but Owen told her it was better off for her. Anzu believed him, and with a pocket full of cash and a bag of what she owned, he sent her off.
What did he tell his friends? It was Owen’s turn to kill whatever hunter tried to get Anzu, and he simply told them that she was killed before he could get to her. He was so wracked with grief at sending the poor girl on her own that they bought the story, and they went back to Asia to find someone else to replace her. From time to time, Owen will call some contacts in New York to have her checked up on, but for now. . . . The small, ignorant werewolf-who-thinks-she’s-human is wandering around New York, trying to find a way in the world.
