The man rattled on in his drunken state. Derrick laughed and glanced down at the shot of Smirnoff the man had bought him. He promised himself only this one shot and he was done. He downed the shot, watching as Mickal was dangerously close to falling off of his chair.

Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Age: 30
Species: Human
Job: Entrepreneur, Hunter/Vigilante
Religious Affiliation: Loosely ChristianDear Diary
Specialties:
1. Skilled in Combat
2. Optimistic
3. Wealthy
Summary:
Ever since Derrick was 8, his dad had put him through several self-defense classes and fighting schools. He is proficient in martial arts, mainly judo and kick boxing, and knows how to use a blade (though never finds any use for a knives.) He is deadly accurate with a firearm and his expertise with most guns is astounding. Another advantage he has is his cheerful demeanor. His positive outlook allows him to remain calm and collective in even the most hopeless of situations. This friendly attitude makes him enjoyable to be around and a great ally. His prosperity allows him many luxuries in his life and supplies him with several tools for his "hobby." His record label keeps him financially sound and allows him to listen to promising new bands as he hunts.
Weakness:
1. Alcoholic
2. Too kind and trusting
3. Curiosity
Summary:
Derrick has a major alcohol problem and even though he is trying to reform himself, he can't refuse a drink out of respect. He is okay with a drink or two, but is unpredictable and stupid when he becomes drunk. Alcohol is really the only way to break Derrick's positive personality. Another weakness is he is too nice and trusts someone much more quickly than he should. He could have just met a person and entrust his life to them or do anything they wanted out of his kindness. His other major weakness is his unquenchable curiosity. Derrick cannot resist trying something new or figuring something out and it normally lands him into trouble. The most repulsive of his curiosities, at least in his eyes, is his secret desire to become a vampire or a werewolf just to experience it.Appearance
Looks: Around his age, maybe a bit younger
Hair: Dark brown, shaggy hair that begins to curl as it grows; a light beard and mustache
Eyes: Light blue
Height: 6'1''
Marks: Tattoos- His record label (lower back), Celtic cross (right pec), and dual pistols (upper back).
Piercings- Left ear and Labret, but he rarely wears the jewelry.
Scars- A knife wound on the left hand, deep claw marks going down his back, and a thin scratch across the back of his neck.
Race: Caucasian
Skin Tone: Slightly Pale
Body Type: Athletic
Clothing Style: Suits (business) or a t-shirt and jeans (casual/hunting).
Footwear: Dress shoes (business), DC skate shoes (casual), or steel-toed black combat boots (hunting).
Summary:
Derrick is a fit, medium height man and would not really stand out in a crowd. He has dark brown, shaggy hair that begins to curl as he lets it grow. He is either clean shaven or has a light beard and mustache. His tone is slightly pale from the long nights on the hunt and the lack of sleep that follows. He has light blue, almost transparent, eyes that are deepset with purple bruises under them from the sleep deprivation. His attire changes from business, casual, and hunting depending on the situation he presumes will come. His suits are always expensive and tidy, pressed with no unwanted marks on it. His normal clothes, however, are normally inexpensive band shirts with a pair of worn, dark jeans. He rarely wears his piercings and attempts to hide his tattoos, ashamed of the way he had acted in his teenage years. He wears a golden Celtic cross when he hunts, though, he puts little faith in that it will protect him.Personality
Likes:
1. Music
2. Socializing
3. Protecting others
Dislikes:
1. His alcoholism
2. His inquisitive nature
3. Unnecessarily harming others
Flaws:
1. Alcoholic
2. Curious
3. Gullible
Summary:
Derrick is an optimist and enjoys his life. He adores his record label and is a bit of a music fanatic, even listening to music while he hunts. He doesn't enjoy hunting, but feels better if he knows that he is keeping others safe. Bringing harm to others, even vampires and werewolves, causes him displeasure and he avoids hurting anyone unless it means a larger percentage will be safe. He has adopted a vigilante attitude toward justice, whether the offender be a human or supernatural being. He loves to socialize with others, but being too nice and naive makes him gullible and easy to persuade. Even though he is trying to fight alcoholism, he cannot refuse a drink if offered to him. With company, he is more likely to give into his drinking habits. His curiosity is one of his most dangerous weaknesses. He is satisfied when he attempts something new or discovers a secret, but hates how he craves to become an unnatural creature just so he can wane his constantly growing thirst for first-hand experiences. Background Check

Graduation Year: Dropped out after first year of college
History:
Anselm "Derrick" Schäfer was born in 1979 in New York City. He grew up in a prosperous family who were descendant's of rich German ancestors that had moved to America after the Civil War. His father was a large man who owned several banks and his mother was a pleasant little woman who stayed at the home. Derrick's only sibling, Amelie, was his younger sister and the two shared a strong bond. He grew up surrounded with wealth and love from his devoted parents. He was sent to the Horace Mann Private school's for his education. Derrick was a happy, curious, and bright child, who passed through school with exemplary grades and countless friends.
Derrick's father was a protective man and wanted his family to be able to defend themselves if they needed to. He set up Derrick in self-defense classes and put him in a few martial art schools. Derrick proved to be a natural at kick boxing and judo, focusing on those schools. When he was ten, his father bought him a BB gun, which he became a prodigy with. Soon after, his father bought him a real handgun, a M-9 Beretta 9mm Pistol, and took him down to the shooting range every Friday for "father-son-time."
As he entered high school, Derrick became obsessed with music and even formed a band with some of his friends from public school. He played the drums and even though it never went anywhere, two things happened. One was he became interested in owning a record label and two was he lost interest in school. When he begged his parents to let him drop-out and get a jump start on his business, his father, of course, told him no. Derrick became angry and went through his "rebellious" teenage years. He got piercings and tattoos to irritate his parents and began to drink, which began his spiral down. When he graduated, he had barely passed and had been arrested numerous times for small crimes.
After pulling many strings, and a few bribes, Derrick's dad had managed to get Derrick accepted into Harvard. Derrick refused to go, but his father promised to give him money to start up his record label if he graduated. Derrick moved to Massachusetts and even though his grades improved, the company he kept did not. It was only a matter of time before the crowds he was hanging with would run into vampires. While he was back home, him and some of his old friend's were invited to a party. The party turned out to be a trap set by a tribe of vampires looking for an easy feast. Only Derrick and one of his friends made it out alive, running as fast as they could to their houses. They didn't realize they were being followed by unseen figures. Later that night, the vampires attacked his family, making Derrick watch them kill his father and take his sister away. They left Derrick and his mother, shocked and terrified.
The attack had taken its toll on Derrick. His mother had ended up in the insane asylum from her rants of vampires and her violent behavior. All of his father's money then transfered into Derrick's account, which he then used to buy and consume dangerous amounts of alcohol. By the end of the year, he had ended up in the hospital twice from alcohol poisoning. Everything that moved terrified him and his depression worsened from the alcohol abuse. He attempted to commit suicide three times, the last time almost succeeding. He had tried to overdose on Tylenol and would have died if his neighbor wouldn't have found him and called 911.
The near death experience shined a new light on Derrick's life. He decided he would have to try and live, for his father and sister. After he recovered, he began to repair the damage he had done to his body over the course of the year. He joined a suicide help group and Alcoholic's Anonymous. He began to work out and used his father's money to buy the record label he had always dreamed about. When he was 25, he had become financially sound and decided to hunt down those vampires that had caused him so much pain and to try and find out what had become of his sister. He became a hunter for not only revenge, but also to protect the innocent from any that would threaten them, no matter if it is a human, a vampire, or anything else he was unaware of. He has not yet found the group of vampires, but continues to search.

Derrick glanced around the familiar bar, a place he had frequented many times during his "dark ages." His brilliant white smile flashed at one of the bar's patrons, a man he had only met a few minutes ago. He had already told this man his life story, editing the part about the vampires of course. The man, obviously drunk, had introduced himself as Mickal, or something like that. It was sometimes hard to understand his slow, slurred speech. "And thatsh why, my friend, you don't mixes your alcohols...they do funny things to you..."
Derrick got up, patting the man on the back as he stood, the pleasant buzz making itself evident at the motion. "Are you going to be okay? Do you want me to walk you home?" Derrick asked Mickal as he motioned toward the door. Mickal shook his head, looking like he was ready to pass out. I just sighed and gave him another smile, grabbing my coat and heading toward the door. "I will see you later then...get home safe." Derrick zipped up his jacket and walked outside into the cold, crisp night air. He glanced up at the moon and decided tonight would make a good night to "patrol" the neighborhood.
He began to walk down the street, toward where he saw an ATM. He began to think of that terrible night, where he was forced to watch his father die and sister scream in terror and agony as she was ripped from her home. Derrick pushed the thought from his head and quickened his pace to a half-walk, half-run. Once he reached the ATM, he put his card in, intending to get some money for a cab. He smiled as he looked at his balance, waiting for the cash to be dispensed. He suddenly felt something sharp poke him in the back and even though he knew what that meant, his smile never dropped. "Now, don't do anything funny and put your hands up..." An intimidating voice commanded from behind Derrick, pressing the barrel of what he guessed was a pistol into his back. As he slowly raised his hands, he considered his options. He finally decided on disarming him. With a quick movement, Derrick reached behind his back and grabbed the gun, spinning around and smashing his elbow against the unknown perpetrator's face. The shock and force of the blow caused the assailant to recoil and fall flat on his back. Derrick opened the clip of the pistol and found it empty. He laughed at the man, throwing the useless gun into a nearby dumpster. The man took off down the street with a decent amount of speed, which caused Derrick to laugh harder. He grabbed the cash out of the machine and walked back to the street, wondering what "useful" gun he would use tonight.
