On the subject of names:
Isenstar... and Ardwen... ring any bells?

It’s too bad Token can’t do anything about it, on account of being dead. His family should though. And I’m sure Lucas would have a field day. Ah, and the little army that’s running around killing and eating people. Wasn’t there a lovely little corps tree at some point? Brings to mind 300, and its original story line/comic book too. And I’m sorry, but dragons with ears? No, just no… They are majestic creatures, with beautiful lines. They gave her a snub nose and ears…
How beautiful can that be?!

Isenstar... and Ardwen... ring any bells? Yep. And they aren't from that .380 next to my head. And I’m sorry, but dragons with ears? No, just no… They are majestic creatures, with beautiful lines. They gave her a snub nose and ears… How beautiful can that be?! About as beautiful as a nuclear power plant employee playing dodge ball.

There's also a passage in the second books that reads almost perfectly like a section of LOTR: TTT... it made me laugh. I must find it again sometime...
And Janitor, you have no poetry in your soul.

And Janitor, you have no poetry in your soul. Yep. I purged it from my soul a long time ago.

Pfff... If I didn't think it in vain, I'd try to persuade you of your error. As it is, I shall just say pff again.
Pff.
If Paolini had used a Latin base language, I might have liked his work more...

.....he knows he skims the line between LOTR hence the reason he lists Tolkien as one of his idols. But the only thing near tolkien are the races.....which even existed far before Tolkien wrote LOTR series. I am currently almost finished with Brisingr and it's a very good book. I don't remember Tolkien ever inventing Dragon, Elves, Dwarves, etc.

The races are far from the only thing... But anyway, he changed the common perception of the elf completely. Pre-Tolkien, they were the tricksome folk of the woods, not the fair folk, or the wise. The fair folk were always something quite different, e.g. the Tuatha de Danaan. Elves were like pixies or such things... like the elves found in Pratchett, but less comical. And the map is Tolkien theft if nothing else is. And he uses the same root language for his languages as Tolkien did, which is a bit suspect. And there are passages that read very similarly. When I can be arsed, I'll get the relevant ones from Eldest and TT to show you. It made me laugh, certainly.

*shrug* still a very good book, I personnally enjoyed it more than the LOTR series and I've read all of them. It's like the new version of LOTR only with better twists and kickass dragon fights.

Better twists? Psh... besides, they aren't twists because they already happened in Star Wars. I'd be expecting them. Kickass dragon fights? Pah... rubbishy fights. Helm's Deep wins over anything Mr. Paolini has to offer. Despite the highly pretentious style, I am forced to admire LOTR simply because of the scope of what Tolkien wrote. It's phenomenal. Inheritance is so... mundane in comparison. Tolkien created the history and mythology of his cultures and a whole enormous backstory to the lot of it... centuries of it. He created a functional language. Paolini's is just scraps and rags. Badly written scraps and rags. It falls into the category with Harry Potter... good story, but no literary talent.
And could this perhaps be continued in the debate room? *points hopefully*

But anyway, he changed the common perception of the elf completely. I was about to point that out. He made them epic! Then what's his face take something good, killed it, and then screwed it's corpse multiple times. I hate his version of elves and I hate that b*tch who's name I can't remember. First book was a decent book. Second one I did not enjoy. Third one I will not read unless I can get it for less than a dollar. Why a dollar? After reading the second one I think I'd enjoy an apple pie off the McDonalds dollar menu a lot more. Helm's Deep wins over anything Mr. Paolini has to offer. (Dethgrowl) I also enjoyed The Fall of Gondolin. However that wasn't in Lord of The Rings.
