Seeing Heinrich come up behind Matthew, she wondered if he was coming to get her, but she was glad that he wasn't. Though she was quite curious as to what Heinrich had to say to Matthew when she saw him pull the vampire away from her. She stood there trying to listen what he was saying to Matthew. No luck with that. Besides his words to her seem as if something bad was going to happen. Or something that would make her feel guilty of something.
Standing there silently she looked around her to see who was all here. Not that she knew a soul here. It just seemed like she should familiarize her surroundings if there was something happening later that night that Heinrich was trying to tell her. Who knew, she didn't care at the moment. Though it had seemed a bit weird that he was telling Matthew and not telling her what needed to be done.
What surprised her even more was him kissing her cheek when he started to leave. She hadn't expected him to give her such a greeting of good bye. Let alone such attraction to her, but perhaps that was why he had taken her in as his slave and then turned her. To preserve her beauty. She watched as he walked up to his guards. Turning back to Matthew she looked at him.
"What did he say to you?"

Matthew watched as Heinrich walked away. The vampire hoped the elder understood how lucky he was that Amoura felt he could help the Blood Dynasty. If she didn’t feel that way, Heinrich would be one of Matthew’s victims at midnight. It wasn’t that the vampire didn’t approve of Heinrich’s lifestyle or beliefs; it was that he hated Heinrich for turning Amethyst. Matthew was infuriated, but all of that went away when Amethyst spoke. Her voice soothed all the anger that was flowing through him. But as her question ended, his anger began to flow once again. He didn’t want to be the one that had to tell her what she was going to have to do to make it through this night without Amoura or Heinrich attempting to end her life for being too weak. The vampire took a deep breath and then spoke,“It looks like you get to learn what Heinrich and the Blood Dynasty is all about. Basically, the shit hits the fan at midnight.”
The vampire looked away slightly, not wanting to tell her that she was going to have to kill innocent vampires, werewolves, and humans tonight, but he had to. She had some how managed to get herself into this mess, and it was all thanks to Heinrich. The vampire then looked in Amethyst’s general direction, but did not make eye contact with her. Matthew didn’t do anything for a moment, and then spoke,“Heinrich wants me to watch out for you and show you how too…”
The vampire couldn’t finish what he was about to say, he just couldn’t. He looked up at Amethyst, looking deeply into her eyes. Matthew slowly brought his hands up, placing them on her shoulders. The vampire then slowly began to rub her arms, his hands moving up and down. As he did this, he was trying to figure out what he wanted to say. Matthew wondered if there was anything he could really say to her, but he knew he had to say something. The vampire then moved his hands down to hers, and spoke,“I didn’t want this for you, Amethyst, but now you have a decision to make. My advice though is to just follow my lead.”

Oh this was going to be a terrible night, Amethyst could only guess about that. Only from the way Matthew was acting about what Heinrich had told him. She didn't want it to come this way. She never wanted this lifestyle. None of it whatsoever. She was happy as a human. Weak and Defenseless against the supernatural, now she was one of them and made things a bit harder than she wanted it to be.
"Matthew. What's going to happen? What if I don't...? Its not my nature!"
Amethyst understood what Matthew was saying. That she would probably have to go against her nature of not killing people. Not that she ever did in her human life, but to kill someone innocent of any nature was just cold blood. She wouldn't be able to find the courage to do such a thing. She just couldn't. Not now. Killing was in her blood. Harmony and Peace were, but perhaps not now after it was taken from Heinrich. It seemed pointless to be mulling over something that was the past.
"If something happens, will you rescue me? Like if I get surrounded to the point where I can't escape? Will you be my knight in shining armor or will I have to fight my own way out? Matthew, this is ridiculous. How can he possibly put me in this position? I've only recently been turned. How am I suppose to know what to do and avoid those that attack me? I'm used to being on their side not against them!"
Freaking seemed a better reason to overcome her fears, but it didn't seem to be helping. None of it seemed to be helping. By now she took the time to cling to Matthew. She wasn't exactly hugging him, but not exactly far away from him. She clung to his shirt, but not to the point where she could rip it. It seemed reasonable at least. As if she was trying to find a safe point to think about or feel safe about, but none of it seemed to keep her calm about the situation. She wanted to leave this place. Get away from the ball, find a place and wait for Heinrich when it was all over, but she knew it couldn't happen. She would probably be punished for ditching out on something that would change her life forever.

Matthew listened to the young vampire and watched as she pulled herself closer to him, grasping onto his shirt. As she did, he moved his hands back up her arms and to her elbows. As she finished speaking, he almost couldn’t look at her. The vampire wished that everything could go back to way it had been just a year ago; but that would never happen. Everything was different now; he was different now. It was kill or be killed, and Matthew liked the idea of being alive. Amethyst would eventually learn to do the same, or he would not be able to protect her for long. That was the nature of this coven. The vampire then lifted his left hand from her elbow and placed it on her right cheek. Matthew looked deeply into her eyes, and spoke,“Of course I will be there to save you. You’ll just have to stay close to me. I’ll allow you to claim some of my kills, and I’ll allow you to feed off of them; but eventually you will have to learn to take life, or else they will take yours. If they decide to do that, I can not protect you.”
As he finished speaking, he brought himself as close to Amethyst as he could get. Matthew knew that she was scared, and he had to comfort her. It was understandable, he was scared when he was first forced to kill; but it wasn’t as hard as he thought it would be. It was in their nature, and the vampire was sure that Amethyst would be able to do what was necessary when the time came. As he continued to look at her, he began to rub her cheek with his thumb. The vampire then spoke,“And there is no need to worry. The only people that will be after you are the people that we attack. The coven will have your back, as long as you are doing what it is they tell you to do.”
Matthew sighed slightly as he broke eye contact with the young vampire. He wished that there was more he could say to her, but there wasn’t. The vampire then brought his eyes back to hers, looking down at her. Matthew brought his face close to hers, and then spoke,“I wish I had a better answer for you, but I don’t. If I take you away from this place and leave, they will hunt us both down. The only way I can protect you is if you stay right here. I know that Heinrich is asking you to do terrible things, but do it for me. Do it so that I know you will always be safe and so that I know that I can always protect you.”

Amethyst couldn't take it. Especially when she would have been hunted down even if she did want to leave the place. It seemed stupid to come here in the first place. She felt a little better after listening to what Matthew had to say, but it didn't make her feel like better about killing anybody.
"Why do they want to do this? So that they have the upper hand over all of the humans or the lesser beings? Why not just force them into slave-hood and then they could be the upper beings. It would save them energy than killing them all. This seems so pointless. Everything seems pointless."
She pulled away from him as she looked around the large room, but she placed her hand within his as if she didn't want to lose him in the crowd. The place looked as if it was packed. She could tell the different species apart from each group being separated in their own little way as if they were wary that the other species would attack them.
"I'll kill if that's what I must do. Maybe then I won't be considered a slave still by Heinrich. What happens if someone is stronger than I am? I'm a weakling."

Matthew knew that she was worried, and he knew that she didn’t want any part of what was about to happen; but they didn’t have a choice. She was new and weak; and Matthew just wasn’t strong enough to challenge the entire coven. The vampire wished that there was something he could do to make it easier on her, but there wasn’t. He stepped towards her once again, making sure that only the two of them could hear what they were talking about. Matthew looked away and then right back to Amethyst, and spoke,“If there is anyone here that is too strong for you, I’ll handle them. You just need to make sure that you feed off of the strong ones that I kill; their blood will help make you stronger.”
The vampire moved his hand to hers once again, holding onto to just her finger tips. He wanted her to understand that he was not like them and that he was still the same vampire she met all those months ago. Matthew knew that there was a chance she would never see him the same way. The vampire continued to look at her straight in the eyes, and then spoke,“I’m really sorry for everything Amethyst. I should have been there to save you when Heinrich took you. I know that I could have stopped him; but I’ll make it up to you one day. One day I’ll be strong enough to get us out of this mess.”

How long had Mara been working for the Bloody Dynasty? Like a month now? She had only visited the manor a few times since joining, but she’s tried to familiarize with the area in case she had to have any extended stays. It was an impressive abode, but Mara much liked her own manor better. . . mostly because it had her pets there! Of course, she just thought it was better in general. A lot less. . . old and stuff. Mara’s was a more modern home, and she had more friendly guards and workers there. She much liked the forest that it was hidden in, too. Sigh. It was just a bit more homey than it was here, but that was probably only because she didn’t know any of the guards and her slaves weren’t just a shout away in the kitchen or whatever. Now Mara was wishing that she had let some of them come. However, she was a bit glad that she didn’t, if this business about midnight was true. . . she wouldn’t have to lose out on her four slaves and find some new ones. She rather liked the ones that she already had.
Of course, if at midnight there was some sort of battle, she could only assume that she would have to be present to throw her weight around and show people how the Dynasty rolled. Mara would enjoy killing some of these people. . . oh how she wished that she could take out that little blonde slave-vampire that Heinrich had brought, but she got the distinct feeling from her glances toward Matthew and the little tramp that he was at least semi-friends with her. By the look of the girl she was hardly anything to be scared of, and Mara could assume that she would be fairly easy to kill. One of those. . . pathetic, weak little wastes of skin. It made sense that if Matthew cared at all for the blonde, he would try to protect her, and Mara knew her place. She didn’t want to start some sort of blood-feud within the Dynasty and risk losing her position of power. That would just be dumb. So she would just have to suffice with taking out the Nazi’s little follows on “accident.”
“Oh, there are plenty of rooms that have the possibility for that use! However, I have a feeling I will be needed at midnight. . . we would not be able to stay in the room for very long.”

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Boredom started to settle in. How much longer until the time came for her to start hurting people? She actually let out a sigh. No matter what kind of event happened for midnight, it couldn’t possibly be worth standing around, drinking mediocre wine, and staring at the walls, could it? None of this music was even good enough to dance to. Scanning the others’ minds wasn’t proving to be as entertaining as she thought it would once the German vampire and the female vampire had stopped talking with one another. Pandora scanned the room again, flitting through the minds like a student flicking through the pages of their textbook; pausing long enough to get the gist of what was being thought or said, and then moving on to see what else there was. It was sort of like channel surfing, as well. Except she could only hear the thoughts and see little bits of pieces if they were talking about an event. She didn’t stay long enough to watch the whole scene.
There was on conversation that caught her attention. Her head turned and she settled her blank stare on a vampire couple. Not an actual couple, just a pair. They seemed to know each other from when the blonde—Amethyst. A stone. It hardly fit the girl—was a human. This man was a member of the vampire coven that the hostess led. All of the information was displayed for all to see in his head as he thought about it while talking to the woman, and Pandora stored it all away. It would not be useful for her until she found someone who wished to take this. . . “Bloody Dynasty” down, and then she could get herself a handsome payment for the information. What was more intriguing was how this blood-thirsty killer was talking to the blonde. As if he cared deeply for her, despite the fact that he hated his own kind for the most part. . . . It seemed to be a case of living a double life.
Suddenly, Pandora was standing next to the pair, a fresh glass of wine in her hand. Normally she would not care to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything, but she was bordering insanity with this lack of things to do, so she thought that she would stand there and make the vampire extremely nervous with a couple of threats, maybe seeing what this guy knew of demons and how he would respond to something so dangerous standing the object of his affections. Head tilted, her blonde hair fell past her shoulders and she lifted the glass to take a sip. All of this transpired in a few seconds as she waited for them to realize that she was there, or notice how fast she appeared next to them.
“Matthew. Amethyst. I am eager to see how your plan will work out if more than one person decides to descend on this little girl. And I also wish to know if you think she will continue to look up to you when she sees your. . . unique flair on slaughter.”

Amethyst was about to answer Matthew when she saw a woman come up to them. The woman in the school girl outfit. How wonderful! She tried to dart her eyes somewhere else because the woman seemed to be imposing on their conversation that was meant to be private just between the two of them. She didn't understand how people could be some imposing on something that wasn't involving them. Though as nice as she was, she just stood there and smiled keeping her mouth shut and allowed Matthew to deal with the woman. It was hardly rude of her to even be here, but Amethyst wasn't going to tell the woman that.

The questions she had posed had been directed toward Matthew, but her head slowly turned toward the girl, her harsh gaze smoldering. The girl’s thoughts were irksome, and Pandora had half a mind to backhand the woman, but she knew that this girl obviously hadn’t the slightest idea what she was. Amethyst was a new vampire, and it stood to reason that she could not quite discern the species and perhaps knew nothing of demons. Vampires and were-creatures were one thing to learn about, but most people thought that demons were merely used in movies and the bible and such. Ignorance could only be tolerated by Pandora for so long, and she felt compelled to throw the blonde in her place. By the sequence of her thoughts and from the way the two vampire’s conversations were going, Pandora could not help but think that this woman was the reason that blonde’s were made fun of for being. . . dumb.
“What makes you think that I do not realize that I am being rude? I can tell that it has not yet crossed your mind that I perhaps just do not care. Now you would be smart to stand there and look pretty while the adults talk. I see that is the only thing you are good for, anyway.”
Without a second thought, Pandora turned her gaze sharply back to the male vampire, awaiting his response to her question. Pandora cared not if her words stung the young girl, she perhaps had gone a little overboard, but the girl’s thoughts had irritated Pandora. Her silence and the false smile on her lips had only proved to irritate her even more. Her eyes remained on the male vampire, and she slowly took another sip of her wine. It didn’t matter how much wine Pandora had, she wouldn’t get tipsy. The demon drank it merely for the taste and because many people drank at parties. She might as well join in on the festivities.

Heading into the building, Alina figured it was a bit late heading to a party, but did she care? Probably not as she looked around the room. She was nervous something was going to come out and jump at her. Especially a certain female vampire she disliked. Yet tonight, Alina wanted to have a good time, even if it meant hanging around the other supernaturals in the room. If Mara found her, it wouldn't really be a problem. It would be Mara's fault for making a scene and she doubted the vampire would want to do that.
Taking a glass of white wine from one of the passing waiters, Alina moved around the crowd. At least she knew what the white wine was, the other substance was hard to guess by, but she was glad she didn't choose it. Drinking blood was not something she craved even if it may have been red wine. She stopped as she saw something that caught her attention. It was her. Damn. Alina had so thought she had gotten rid of that vampire, but now she was just screwed. She ducked between a few passing guests and wandered off to go in search of something interesting to spark her eye.

Matthew turned around, and saw the demon in human form. The being had a bad scent that encircled it. As the vampire turned around, he noticed that it was the same demon that he had seen around earlier in the night. He looked away and back to the demon, wondering what Amethyst was thinking. After a couple of moments, the demon spoke again. The vampire bit his lip as he now realized that the demon could read their minds. Matthew waited for the demon to finish speaking, and then turned around to face it.
As the vampire stood there, looking at the demon, he didn’t allow himself to think. He didn’t want to allow the demon to use his thoughts against him. Matthew just stared down the demon, knowing that there was nothing he could do. He had been around long enough to know that he could kill the demon, which meant it would be pointless for him to attack the being. The vampire then spoke,“What’s the matter, no one here will agree to give you their soul. Guess it doesn’t help that you’re at a party filled with soulless vampires. This party is a complete waste of your time; why don’t you go mess with aspiring musicians or something?”
The vampire stood there silent for a moment, hoping that he might have made the demon slightly mad. He stood there, looking the demon over. The vampire continued to make sure that he didn’t allow any thoughts to cross his mind; he wasn’t going to allow this demon to have the upper hand on him. Matthew just smiled slightly, and then spoke,“And don’t worry, I am more then capable of protecting her from whomever tries to attack her. There is only one person standing in this room that I am not strong enough to face off against, and she is on my side. Any one that plans on attacking her will meet their end at my hands.”

“What’s the matter, no one here will agree to give you their soul? Guess it doesn’t help that you’re at a party filled with soulless vampires. This party is a complete waste of your time; why don’t you go mess with aspiring musicians or something?”
At least the girl had enough sense to do as Pandora had told her. She gave this Matthew person a rather bored expression, finding his attempt at getting a rise out of her rather weak. She nonchalantly lifted her glass of wine to drink it. The first glass was now empty, and as a couple of humans walked past, Pandora thrust the glass at the man. He took it out of sheer surprise when he found it pressed against his chest, and he looked at it, then looked at Pandora with confusion, but it slowly gave away to irritation. Opening his mouth to tell her that he wasn’t one of the waiters, Pandora turned her head sharply to him and glowered at him. It was enough for him to scuttle off with his partner, both of them glancing back at the demon before they disappeared in the throng of people. Humans. So easily intimidated.
“For what reason would I wish to bother any sort of musician? They are painfully uninteresting and hold no particular use for me. And yes, there are a superfluous amount of vampires here, but I have not arrived at this party to consume any souls, Matthew. Is it hard for you to realize that we of the demonic race do enjoy ourselves from time to time?”
The vampire seemed to be attempting to keep her out of his mind. It was not unheard of for people to be able to block their minds, and Pandora cared not for what he was thinking. She lifted her second glass of wine and took a small sip. The drink was mostly for appearances, as she did not particularly enjoy the flavor of this wine, but she preferred to be doing something if she couldn’t be taking off people’s arms. Of course, once the witching hour struck, there would be nothing to stop her from simply dropping everything that moved. She would not go unscathed most likely, but wounds caused by these humans and vampires would heal simply enough. Demons were unable to be killed by anything other than a stronger demon, after all. Or those blasted rats with wings. But there were none of any of those at this party. . . . No, Pandora was certain that at that particular moment, she was the only demon that had arrived to partake in the festivities.
“And don’t worry, I am more than capable of protecting her from whomever tries to attack her. There is only one person standing in this room that I am not strong enough to face off against, and she is on my side. Any one that plans on attacking her will meet their end at my hands.”
“Is that. . . a challenge, young vampire?”
Was it possible? A small, discreet, sideways smile snaked onto Pandora’s lips. But it was gone as soon as it had arrived and that bored and emotionless expression was back on her face as she looked at Matthew before slowly turning her head to look at the young female vampire, freshly turned. They would see how much of an end she met, then. Turning her head back to Matthew, she addressed the second part of his little challenge, a dark glower appearing on her face, her eyes flashing with. . . anger? Excitement? It was hard to tell with the demon when her eyes were the only thing giving away what emotions she was feeling, and they were clouded over, muddy, almost. She might have looked like she was still in high school; and the outfit just topped it all off, but she was not going to blatantly insulted by nothing more than a half-human waste of skin and bones.
“You are blind to those who have attended this gathering. You can see them, you know what they are, but you have nothing to back up the presumption that you are the best in this room. I have seen the way you kill through your memories, Matthew Corvinus, and it is neither impressive nor nothing to boast about. Anyone can tear a person asunder given they have the strength. You have more than one to worry about, leech, and I can promise you I will have fun making an example out of you.”

Matthew cracked a slight smile as the demon had finished talking. Most wouldn’t look forward to the possibility of fighting a demon. Only another demon could kill a demon, which meant that only one of them would be fighting to keep their life if the two fought. The vampire was completely okay with the idea of it; knowing that no matter what the demon tried, Matthew would not die at its hands. The vampire’s smile disappeared from his face, and he stepped forward; closing the gap between the demon and himself. He stopped, and then spoke,“If you’re here to have a good time then why don’t you go find some one to dance with; a werewolf might be right up your alley. I mean, you both smell really bad and I wouldn’t be surprised if you have fleas.”
Matthew turned his back to the demon, but he didn’t let down his guard. The vampire looked over at Amethyst, placing his hand on hers. He looked into the eyes of the younger vampire, and spoke,“Why don’t you go get us some drinks and find a place for us to sit. I’ll come find you in just a couple of minutes.”
The vampire didn’t wait for Amethyst to respond; he simply let go of her hand and turned back around to face the demon. Matthew didn’t want to spend a lot of time talking to the creature; in fact, he wanted to walk away right now. He couldn’t be rude to Amoura’s guests though; so he had to stay and converse with the demon. The vampire sighed slightly as he looked the demon over, and then brought his gave back up to its human looking face.
The demon had taken his previous statements as a challenge. It would seem that when all hell broke loose at midnight, the two would end up fighting. If this occurred, Matthew would have his hands full and wouldn’t be able to protect Amethyst from the others at the party. The vampire found the idea of it all to be very unacceptable. As much as he wanted to put this demon in its place, he couldn’t afford the time it would take to do so. Matthew shrugged his shoulders slightly as he stood there, and then spoke,“You listen up, demon. You might be able to go through my mind and pick apart my memories; but it doesn’t mean that you know everything about me. So don’t try and toy with my mind; and you especially shouldn’t try and toy with Amethyst’s mind. So why don’t you just walk away.”

Her expression remained neutral, but she was not very happy with the way this pathetic half-breed was talking to her. The glass in her hand started to smoke and sizzle in her hand, and a strange green, clear liquid slowly dripped to the floor and the tile started to burn as well, the wine glass slowly growing smaller and smaller in her hand, hissing as if it was a snake. Where did this vampire get off? And shame on her for letting some rule keep her from cleaving his head from his shoulders! Why should she pay attention to some rule a lesser being had set? It was not as if the vampire known as Elizabeth could kick her out if she did not want to leave. Perhaps it would just be an early kick-off to the fight that was going to take place anyway?
Matthew looked back at her from speaking to the little blonde girl, and she relaxed the fist she had made, the last remains of the glass dropping to the floor, now an unrecognizable mass of glass that continued to evaporate into the air, a small crater appearing in the tile from the corrosive drippings Pandora had created with her acidic touch. It would be easy enough to simply set her hand on his chest and melt his entire torso. She would see if he was so tough when he his insides had melted and continued to eat away at him from the inside out. . . . It would not be a pleasant feeling, and she would like to see him heal from that. Even though these thoughts raced through her head, there was no outward clue to the ideas and scenarios playing like a film, and now she was extra mad because her wine was gone. . . . But she said nothing to him, the only rebuttal to his insult the unspoken threat that was her melted glass, still eating at the tile, but slowly stopping.
“You listen up, demon. You might be able to go through my mind and pick apart my memories; but it doesn’t mean that you know everything about me. So don’t try and toy with my mind; and you especially shouldn’t try and toy with Amethyst’s mind. So why don’t you just walk away.”
“Vampire. Do you enjoy flirting with death? Because I can assure you, if the next thing that comes from your mouth is anything but an apology, I will take your arm. And if that does not teach you, I will remove the other. Tell me, parasite. . .”
In half the time it took to bat an eye, Pandora was behind the vampire, not even having to move. It was a simply teleportation spell, and it didn’t take much out of her. The vampire’s blatant attempt to intimidate Pandora with the height difference was a miserable failure. How do you intimidate a creature when they know very well that you cannot kill them? Pandora might have looked like a little high school girl, but it was wise not to underestimate her based solely on her size or her appearance. It was one sure way to die a painful death. The vampire might have been confident that Pandora would not kill him. And perhaps she wouldn’t. Perhaps the knowledge that he had been easily defeated would be enough punishment for him.
“Are you so certain of your skills that you are willing to risk enraging a demon? Are you so sure. . . that you could stop me from killing those you care for? Protect all of the people you will care for? If you do not wish to spend the rest of eternity watching all of those you get close to die because you are too proud, then choose your next words carefully. But if you apologize sincerely, I promise I will not harm you on this night.”
