“Hey. These small little cakes are healthy! Especially when you drink them with diet soda!” Isi smirked. Of course diet soda was disgusting so Isi preferred the full sugar version. But of course Ara didn’t need to know that. “Watching TV with another hunter? I can see it now.” Isi said as she looked at more junk food. ‘And so can you,’ Isi thought to herself snidely though Ara could hear her as well. Isi on the right side of the black leather sofa with the remote control in her hand. Ara on the left side of the couch. A bowl of chips on the coffee table with high corn fruit juice in cups with a bowl of ice cubes. And who couldn’t forget the guns? Isi would have hers pointed at Ara. Ara would have her knife drawn on Isi.
“That’s so mean of you to hurt their feelings.” Isi replied. Of course she knew that she was trying to speak in code. Did the girl enjoy stabbing the supernaturals to death? Isi was intrigued. It has harder than just shooting them with a gun. Isi knew she needed to give the girl some credit. She also knew that if this girl was a hunter and if she lived for hand to hand combat then Isi needed to stay out of the ‘danger’ risk zone. She was fair at hand to hand combat herself but was Ara an expert? She wished she could see the girl fight at least. Isi placed the snack cakes on the counter and then went to the aisle for candy. She would have to deal with how to get all these groceries down the block later. Candy. Candy. Candy.

Isi was an interesting person. They both knew how much diet anything tasted, which was horrible. The good thing about talking to another hunter was that they got to speak in code. Code speaking was always fun for Ara, and she knew Isi probably enjoyed it too, even if she seemed be annoyed by Ara on the outside. I can see it now... and so can you. Ara could hear her thoughts as clearly as she had when Isi actually spoke. Ara nodded and smirked slightly, "So can I. It's a very lovely scene, isn't it?"
Ara stepped onto the bottom shelf and looked over the edge of one of the shelves above her head. She smiled and found what she was looking for. Chocolate chip cookies. Now why did the stupid grocery store owners feel the need to put the delicious chocolate chip cookies on the top shelf above Ara's head? Sure, she was only five foot two, but the store owners should know better.
Did Ara actually stab supernaturals to death? Nope, just food. But she enjoyed having Isi on her toes. Ara knew Isi's every thought but she had no clue what Ara was thinking about. For all she knew, Ara could be scheming a way of killing Isi later that night. But she wasn't. Ara had no intention of harming Isi unless she brought it on herself. But, Ara was never very good at lying when she was talking to another hunter. They were smarter than regular old mortals, and could probably see through her lie. "I do enjoy hurting their feelings, but I try not to stab them too badly unless they really start to get on my nerves." She hoped no one was listening or happened to overhear their conversation. They would definitely be given weird stares. Oh well, that's all part of the fun.

“Very lovely.” Isi replied as she looked over her choices of candies. Chocolates or gummies? Gummy worms or gummy bears? Or to make things harder, gummy fish! Isi should invite Ara over. Then Isi could take care of Ara at in her own home at her own leisurely pace. Though she had her own soundproof basement it was never used. Why use your own home? It was better to be in an abandoned warehouse. It was tough to have your mind invaded. Isi flashed Ara a look. The brunette had heard all her thoughts from invading her mind. She knew that she wanted to strap her down to a table in her basement and kill her. Isi growled under her breath. It was so low that no one would be able to hear, at least with their horrible human ears. The growl was unexpected. Isi was not an animal.
Isi just looked at Ara in an odd way. She tried not to stab them too badly. Did that mean when she stabbed someone she always made sure that it was in a fatal area? Isi turned around and gulped. Isi thought of all the ways to kill Ara. Inviting her back to her home to watch TV seemed like the best bet. She would need to dispose of the body or else it might come back to haunt her. Someone would put two and two together. A red head runs out of a bank robbery and a red head is last seen with the victim. Alright, it seemed unlikely that anyone would ever put those things together. She walked to the checkout counter ready to pay for all her items. “Just put them on my bill,” she told Ara. Though she thought, ‘a last meal of lollypops and chocolate cookies’. Though Ara would be dead before she could ever think to ask for a glass of milk.

Ara looked over the edge of the shelves, glimpsing over all the gummies and other candy that happened to catch her eye. Unless the snack was colorful and pretty, she didn't bother picking it up off the shelf. But it was hard to pick out candy with Isi's gruesome scenarios running through her head. And it wasn't entirely Ara's fault that she was peeking in on Isi's dark thoughts. Her thoughts were very loud, making it almost impossible to ignore. Not only that, but watching Isi's version of Ara's own death, strapped to a table in her soundproof basement... that's not the kind of thought that Ara can just ignore easily.
And then that growl. Isi wasn't a dog or a bear or anything, so why would she growl like that? Ara never growled, not even when she was attacking her vampire or werewolf prey. When she heard that growl, Ara just snapped her head around to look at her. She didn't give her a weird look, just a curious look. Ara smirked as they reached the counter. She wouldn't argue with Isi's offer to pay for her little lollipops and cookies. If it had been expensive than of course Ara would have declined the offer. And although that wasn't much of a meal, Ara knew it wouldn't be her last. She'd fought more than another hunter before. She wasn't sure that Isi wouldn't be a challenge, but challenges excited her... probably more than she should. "We'll see about that."

Isi just offered Ara a small smile. She turned to face the shop owner and eyed him as he began to ring up her items. She did not even let a grin phase her face when the items were obviously overpriced. Four dollars for a single bag of chips? And Isi had three! Her bill rang to a total of 170.00. Isi never used her credit card as she preferred to leave no paper trail. She pulled a chain wallet out of her pocket and pulled out nine twenty dollar bills. She took her change of ten dollars and glanced at all the bags. Too many to carry by herself! “Help me carry these bags.” Isi replied as she grabbed a few bags. ‘Those damned police had better be gone by now.’ She thought to herself. Isi picked up a few bags instantly feeling how very heavy they were. She waited for Ara to pick up the rest of the bags before she headed to the door.

Ara had actually been about to offer to carry some of the bags, but Isi beat her to the punch. She didn't have to be so grumpy about it, though. But Ara hoped that the police were gone too. And she felt kind of bad, $170 was a lot of money for just some snacks. Maybe when she finally let Isi to go back home, she'd slid the amount of money for her snacks into her bag or something on the way out. She grabbed the bags and followed Isi out.
Of course, if Isi was more than Ara bargained for and she didn't make it out alive, then the money wouldn't matter anyway. But Ara was pretty sure she could make it out alive. She didn't doubt she'd walk away with scrapes and bruises and such, but she could handle that. But she hoped Isi would put up a good fight just to see how good a hunter she really was. But Ara wouldn't actually kill her even if she had the chance to. But, she'd just have to wait and see.

Isi carried the bags out of the store and was out on the sidewalk. The grocery shop was just around the corner. Isi stepped out onto the cracked sidewalk and looked at the newspaper machines just waiting for someone’s quarters. She was not in the headlines but in the bottom left corner was the title ‘Two Women Wanted’ Isi knew the article by memory. ‘Two Women Wanted in connection with a random shooting on New York’s finest streets.’ Isi looked away and tried to block out the thought. She pressed the crosswalk button and turned her head to see if the police were still there.
They were gone. Isi turned the corner instead of crossing the street and headed towards her car. She glanced at the people walking down it and spotted (from what she could tell) no hidden police officers. It was safe as far as she could tell. And it wasn’t like she had done anything wrong in the eyes of the law. Anyone would do what she had done, which was of course to run and leave anyone else behind to die. No one cared about her life so why should she care about theirs?
[[Maybe Ara can see if there are any cops looking for Isi by reading minds?]]

Ara just followed Isi. She seemed like a nervous wreck as she turned the corner. There were no police in sight, but she knew that Isi was trying very hard to ignore the "Two Women Wanted" headline. She sighed after a moment as they approached her car. Isi was still looking for hidden police but there were none to find. Ara scratched her shoulder aimlessly as she flipped through the girl's thoughts. She didn't mean to be nosy, it was just habit at this point.
Ara glanced around herself, and let her telepathy stretch out for at least a half a mile around the area. No one was even suspicious that she could tell, and there was no police there either. "There aren't any police around here. If there were I would hear their thoughts. Humans tend to think very loud, and no one is even suspicious."
She didn't know if Isi would believe anything she said, but it was worth a shot. But Ara doesn't lie. She was just as deep in the random attack at the grocery store as Isi was. Since she was spending time with her, it made her a suspect too. So there wasn't even a reason for Ara to lie to her about the police being nearby. And if one of them happened to get passed her telepathy, then it truly would be an honest mistake. Not that Isi would believe that, but Ara just kept walking with her toward her car, making sure to keep her mind open for any knew approaching thoughts that might be the police.

Isi pulled out the keys to her black Saab and the trunk popped open. It was a small sports like car but the groceries would fit. “Hmm. Don’t worry I can spot out cops. It’s what I do!” she said coolly. Though she was comforted almost by Ara telling her that there were no plain clothes in the area. It reinforced her earlier thoughts. She leaned against her car as she looked at Ara. “So,” Isi said as she leaned against her car. “Are you going to come back to my place?” In her opinion she thought she sounded almost like the Situation from Jersey Shore, just without being a loser, a male and from Jersey.

Ara didn't argue when she said "it's what I do!" She knew that, but she just seemed kind of edgy as they approached the car. Of course, spotting police might not be the only thing there was to make her edgy. She did have another hunter following her, which was enough to make Ara go paranoid if she wasn't confident. But she highly doubted that that was the reason. She set her groceries in Isi's trunk, too, and nodded. "Of course," she said with a blank sort of smirk. Expressions that were impossible to read were her specialty.

Isi turned on the radio in hopes that Ara would concentrate on the rapid music instead of Isi’s own personal thoughts. Though the radio was surely for Isi’s comfort because she knew Ara would continue to listen to Isi’s thoughts despite any such distraction. It was awkward (at least for Isi) driving with another hunter. She was driving with only her right hand on the steering wheel though she did need to use both hands when shifting from park to reverse to drive. But on the road Isi only needed one hand unless she needed to swerve lanes immediately. Isi and Ara both knew that Isi’s left hand lingered near a weapon. And Isi though she was not blessed with the ability to read minds knew that Ara was close to her weapons, one of her large shinny or rusty knives in which to stab Isi repeatedly.
As Isi drove not concentrating on the road but on Ara she thought and listened to the music. It was a real shame that they could not work together. There were times when she had killed wealthy vampires and there were no passwords to bank accounts to be found. Isi could have used Ara to gather the information and become even wealthier! It would also save time to know the combination to safes instead of breaking them the old fashioned way with either a good ear or a bit of dynamite (which was extremely hard to get ones hands on these days with random SWAT checks and dogs sniffing everywhere). Isi turned out of the city and headed to her home, their destination twenty minutes away, thirty if she had followed the speed limit.

Ara just listened to the music after Isi turned it on. It wasn't her type of music, but at least it wasn't that stupid hip-hop and rap junk that most people turned on the radio. That wasn't music, it was strange noises with a mechanical voice saying incomprehensible words. At least, that was her opinion. But she did keep close attention on Isi's thoughts, just in case she tried to attack her here in the car. Ara kept her elbow leaning against the door of the car and just looked out the window, looking out the front windshield through Isi's eyes. And even though Isi could easily pull out her gun and attempt to kill Ara right then and there, Ara kept both her hands clearly visible and far away from her hidden knives.
She didn't mind that Isi was speeding. She'd drive over the limit most of the time, too, especially when she was following some crazy werewolf and insanely rich vampire that she was hunting. Ara focused on Isi's thoughts when she noticed what she was thinking about. She was picturing them partners, but she thought of it like it could never be. Ara looked toward her then, examining the way she was sitting. "You know, we don't have to be enemies. I am no threat to you," she admitted. Although she didn't mean that Isi could beat her in a fight, she only meant that if Isi didn't attack her, than she wouldn't attack either. She hesitated before adding, "Unless you want me to be."

pray, ne'er come hither wane to dust the wight [atrb=border,0,true] “How do I know for sure that you’re not a threat to me?” Isi asked as she swerved lanes. That was the ultimate problem with hunters. They were so paranoid of each other that it was impossible to work with one another, because some humans were known to work as servants and even slaves for vampires with the promise of themselves becoming one. It was impossible for Isi to trust someone. Yet, she had trusted Linx, an ex-army figure that she had told about the supernatural and had turned him into a good little vampire killing machine. “How can I know that I can trust you? How can I know that you won’t screw me over to vampires to werewolves to the government?” It was a perfectly reasonable question that Isi asked. Maybe, just maybe if Ara could prove to Isi that they did not need to be enemies… Maybe! Isi didn’t trust strangers and since everyone was strange she trusted no one.
Isi finally pulled off the freeway. She was rather careful with her driving so that she did not get smashed to bits by a truck. Driving on the freeway was already dangerous but those coming or going from or to New York? Driving was almost in a way suicidal! Isi passed luxury homes, a harbor that had luxury boats in it. Isi had a small yacht in mind that was for sale. One day she would very much like to go boating. Instead of pulling into the driveways of one of the luxurious homes Isi passed them all and passed the suburbs. Then and only then did she arrive where the homes were even more luxurious and larger than the first. They were also more spaciously spread apart. Isi slowed before a gate and then used the clicker on her set of keys to open the gate. As the gate opened Isi drove through the large black iron bars before having them close behind the car.
Isi’s home was a very large mansion or mini-mansion. It was not the home for a modest person. Nor was it a home obtained by modest and honorable means. It was paid for by death of those that Isi had killed. In some ways that should be frightening but Isi was very nonchalant. It was just home to Isi. A home that despite its unhonorable cost she had sunk more money into the place by the little ‘touch ups’ such as security cameras, motion cameras, moving bookshelf’s that led to hidden rooms and of course the many safes and many places that there were guns. Isi had even put a gun in a cereal box in honor of the wonderful movie, Kill Bill. If Ara read Isi’s mind when Isi was thinking about guns Ara would know the location to many dangerous pre-loaded weapons. Afterall, safety was for winps!

Ara thought a moment. How did Isi know she could trust her? Well, Ara was naturally trusting. That was just something she was born with. But that also made her very naive when she was younger. It almost got her killed too many times. Even now, though, with a paranoid hunter with guns right beside her, she trusted her not to attack. She just expected Isi thought the same of her, but she must have expected wrong. "Dunno," she admitted. "Guess you'll just have to hope for the best. Even if I tried to do something to get on your good, trusting side, I don't think it would work."
When they pulled up to the mansion, Ara just smiled. She couldn't say she was surprised. Isi did rob the vampires and were-things she killed, so why not spend it all on a brilliant home? Although Ara had enough money for a mansion this size if not bigger, too, she saved all her money for if she really needed it. She had more than she knew what to do with, so she usually just kept it in her father's old bank account and let his lawyer give her advice on when to use it and when to act like it doesn't exist. That lawyer was probably the only person who was a friend of her dad's that she trusted.
"Nice place you got here," she knew that her grammer could have been better, but she didn't think Isi minded. "And just for future reference, I have no intention of screwing you over and turning you in to vampires, werewolves, or the government."

pray, ne'er come hither wane to dust the wight [atrb=border,0,true] “You’re right about that.” Isi said as she pulled the car into the driveway. She had the garage open by the time the car pulled up and drove the car inside the garage and then closed it with the button. It wasn’t as if anyone was snooping on her but if she decided to kill Ara then better to not let anyone see her. Though of course the man from the grocery store might remember them. She stopped the car and then got out of the driver’s side door, opening the trunk. “Thanks.” She simply said after the compliment. She almost wanted to trust Ara that she would not turn it over to vampires, werewolves or the government. She did not know which would be worse. The vampires would kill her. The werewolves would kill her and then eat her. But the government would take away all her money they could fit in their weasel pockets and imprison her!
“How did you become a mind reading hunter?” Isi asked as she unlocked the door that led into the house and then went to pick up some bags filled to the brim with calories. Maybe a nice story of how Ara got into the hunting business would be enough for Isi to at least not kill her as soon as she crossed the premises. She was at the very least curious. How could this girl read minds? Were there other humans with extraordinary powers out there? Did Ara hunt vampires? Did she hunt werewolves? Was there a preference? How had she gotten started? Isi refused to think about how she got started. It was something she never talked about, much less would consider speaking!
Isi walked inside her home and down the hall. To the left was the kitchen and to the right was a room that could be used for the purpose of entertainment. Isi put the bags she carried on the island counter next to the sink. Her kitchen was remarkably clean. It showed that she was either very good at keeping it clean or that she never was in this particular room. Her fridge was empty, as were the cabinets. There may have been a few cans of expired beans in the can supply room. She threw the bags under the counter for trash use later. Isi pulled out two cups from her counter as well as two bowls for chips. “Root beer?” she asked her guest. “And no, I didn’t poison the cup from the inside.” Though that would have been neat, very neat, she thought.
