ISI .{.EXECUTIONER.}. RUNASIMI → SCORCHING THE BLOOD IN MY TWISTED HEARTI’LL BE THE THORNS ON EVERY ROSE ← Isi glanced once at her weapons and twice at the men and women who stood before her. She was as surrounded as one would be surrounded on Call of Duty: Nazi Zombies if their teammates had been killed and all the zombies had broken through the windows. But unlike the video game, Isi actually stood to have a chance. One could not think about running out of ammo now. However Isi firmly missed the shotgun that would have killed all the zombies that were standing in a neat line. Isi would have to make do with her automatic pistols with attached silencer. It was a fairly new weapon Isi added to her arsenal. She liked them so much that she had purchased two of them.
She shot twice before the vampires knew that she wasn’t going to die easily and they all tried to tackle her. If they got to her then she would die. She took a few steps backwards and continued to shoot. The vampires were slow as if they had just been created and were rather unsure of themselves and their new skills. Isi was sure of her old skills but to be honest she was a bit rusty. It had been such a chore to take care of Hiro and of course having to watch over between Seras and Era, two women who vied for Hiro’s love and affection. It was like two full on jobs back to back. Not to mention she couldn’t escape to her own home because they were there! – Watching that she properly take care of Hiro. And if Hiro was let loose then they would all be murdered in their sleep.
Jesus Christ,” Isi muttered. Not to the surrounding situation but because of the thoughts of the three: Era, Hiro and Seras. Suddenly Isi’s gun clicked. “Fuck,” Isi muttered. This was what happened sometimes when you bought illegal weapons. Whatever happened to quality products? If Isi lived (which she would) she would fuck with whoever sold her these weapons who just so happened to jam up on her. There were a million gun peddlers out there. She put her two pistols away in her holster and grabbed her small lady’s gun out of her leg holster. There were only six shots and it took a few seconds to reload, but Isi wasn’t carrying any single silver bullets on her. She had no idea her guns would jam nor that she would see so many creatures out tonight.
She shot once and then continued to run. All of a sudden she turned the corner and there was a person. She knew because she ran smack into them, their flesh wasn’t cold and they had color in their cheeks. For some reason, Isi shouted “Run, run, run.” It wasn’t like her to actually care about the life of another human before. She didn’t care, not honestly. But she really didn’t need another vampire to face off. If she escaped today she could get them tomorrow night, with more reliable weapons.

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← What a beautiful countryside. Even at night. Perhaps it wasn’t as beautiful as one of the night-life lands, like Paris or Tokyo, or even New York City, the place that one old vampire took residence in. But blinking lights and tall buildings—however awe-inspiring and inventive—could not compare to the stars twinkling in the sky or the moon silhouetted against the tree line. Xitlalli had been called away from New York for a few weeks by those that employed her—though, she was technically no employee as she didn’t accept currency that would be accepted in any country—and she was taking a well-deserved break after a long day of briefing.
However, her tranquil meditation was interrupted by the sound of rapid fire and the unmistakable hum of a mob attacking someone. Opening her eyes slowly, the Aztec vampire stood to full height and started down the hill she stood atop. Coiling the muscles in her legs, she took a mighty leap, and then disappeared into the shadows of the forest, heading toward the sound of a struggle. Observe and assess, that was all she was going to do. It was not a god’s job to intervene all the time. . . . The humans had to figure out their own problems on their own every now and again.
Luckily, Xitlalli thought herself more of a demi-god. They surely could intervene when they felt, yes?
And now seemed like a good time to start a divine intervention. A woman—who by all intents and purposes seemed to be able to take care of herself—was being attacked by a horde of vampires. Wait. . . . Hadn’t this been her charge here? Someone had been going around creating new vampires and just leaving them all to fend for themselves. . . . Of course, this wasn’t unheard of, vampires creating other vampires. But here, it was one person, and they had all made these new vampires. That would explain why they weren’t overtaking her.
It seemed that the woman had run out of ammunition. Ali heaved a sigh. What was the point of creating a weapon if you created it to run out of ammo? There was nothing wrong with a good knife or sword. Well-trained, you could kill all the people in the world without running out of ammo. It might get dull, but there was nothing wrong with some blunt force trauma. These humans. . . they were always looking for efficiency, when it had always been there in the first place. Truth was, they had merely gotten lazy. Their cars, their planes, their guns. All required minimal effort to do anything. Perhaps she should let this woman become severely injured, and then tell her where she had gone wrong. . . .
No, that wouldn’t work. People these days were stubborn and couldn’t see the forest for its trees. Sighing, Xitlalli leaped down from the tree she had become perched on, landing between the woman and the vampires. Her hand went up, and the snow blanketing the ground rose and washed over the vampires, knocking them all to the side and burying them. The snow rose as if they were trying to get up, but the Aztec vampire narrowed her eyes and balled her hand into a fist. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled slowly, and the snow solidified into ice.
Letting her hand drop, Xitlalli turned to the others and took a step back. “We should evacuate. I do not know how long the ice will contain them,” she said simply, figuring that her kind gesture would be enough to convince this obvious hunter that she would come to no harm from Xitlalli.

ISI .{.EXECUTIONER.}. RUNASIMI → SCORCHING THE BLOOD IN MY TWISTED HEARTI’LL BE THE THORNS ON EVERY ROSE ← The night seemed to be far from young. In a few hours things would go to normal. If a person could call killing vampires normal. The red hair of Isi was tied back into a ponytail with a black hair pretty. It was almost a bun except for the fact that it was a bit wavy near the bottom where the rest of her long hair stuck out. Her hair was long and straight, not layered. Her curls weren’t natural, were her favorite style, but something she had not done for tonight. She wasn’t going to pretty herself up to kill abominations of God. Her attire was black. Completely. Her top was black as were her cargo pants. Her tennis shoes were black and white but on this pair the white was dashed out with a black permanent marker. It would look odd during the daylight but during the night no one would notice. She had met a hunter who preferred dark gray, but Isi preferred black. It was easier to shop for and she thought personally that black stood in more than gray.
Jesus Christ,” Isi swore. Snow came out of nowhere. She recalled the weather but hadn’t remembered the prediction. The small picture did not seem so bad. It was supposed to be cloudy, not snowy. The weathergirl had really outdone herself. Of course maybe Isi should have changed the channel to find a better network but she had been all the way across the room and feeling rather lazy. She had always heard about newscasters removing their clothes to tell the news and had wanted to see it for herself. She doubted anyone who had watched the channel would complain about the wrong forecast as long as they got to see breasts from a real woman! The men weren’t bad either. Not that Isi found herself attracted to anyone.... This time as the elements changed Isi remained silent. The snow seemed to change simultaneously into ice. A very large wall made entirely of ice, constructed purely by snow.
How did you do that?” Isi asked amazed. For a few moments she had forgotten that she was being chased by a mob of angry vampires! The tides had turned on this dreary one time! Wasn’t it usually a mob of humans chasing a single vampire in the olden days where humans weren’t as stupid but twice as suspicious? Had her life not been in grave danger from the mob Isi would have liked to press her gloved hands (dare she touch with her ungloved fingers?) to the ice. It looked like a trick; like it was some version of a modified fog machine. But that would be nearly impossible to pull off cornering the vampire mob. Such things only worked in cartoons. “How’d you do that?” Isi asked as she turned tails and ran. She left the other woman she had run into on her own. Hopefully she had good senses and would run away. If she froze in fear then she was screwed. Isi wasn’t here to save anyone but herself. The act of killing vampires was not to save mankind but just to destroy supernatural-like-creatures for her own personal vendetta.
The woman who had simultaneously turned snow into ice looked rather exotic. She wasn’t something like the normal exotic woman you occasionally saw on the arms of rich men: Brazilian, Russian, Russian, Puerto Rican (as you were planning on stealing from their large estates when out and about at a party – Hey, it took money to be able to continue hunting). The woman looked like something like Isi couldn’t place. She had probably not been to her country of origin yet. When Isi visited a new place she liked to use makeup to make herself look like a native as much as possible. Sometimes that meant getting a tan along with heavy use of makeup, other times it was possible to go as herself and pretend to be either a student or a tourist. But if everyone looked like something else then she wouldn’t want to be the only one standing out. Like how this one man had escaped from Prison and hightailed it to Mexico, he was as white as could be in the small town that no tourists ventured to and Police were laughing later how he stood out so much. He couldn’t hide in a crowd if he had wanted to, of course they chose to arrest him as he got out a video store from tailing his car but that was besides the point.
Who was this woman? How did she have this strange, amazing power? And why had she bothered to help Isi? Isi would probably need the remaining bullets in her small back up gun to protect herself against this woman!

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← The elderly vampire watched the mound of ice for a second, then turned back to the woman. She seemed entirely shocked and unsure of what had just happened. This confused Xitlalli for a moment. . . . Hadn’t she just been being chased by a horde of vampires? Wouldn’t she know what one looks like when she saw one? Granted, she was a darker-skinned vampire due to being born in Mesoamerica, but a hunter that had lasted that long against such a huge group, no matter how young, must have been an experienced one. . . . Xitlalli shook her head.
Naturally, the woman’s question made the vampire assume that she was to follow the woman in order to answer her. Sighing, Alli looked over to the mound of ice. Cracks were appearing. The vampires would be cold as hell, but they were already technically dead, so it wouldn’t bother them, just make them stiff for a while. A few seconds later, she took off after the red-headed human, catching up in a very short time and slowing to a more human pace to make sure she didn’t over take the human and leave her behind. . . . If she needed more help, Xitlalli didn’t want to have to backtrack.
“Please calm down. The vampires will be even slower now. You are safe now,” the Aztec vampire commented after what seemed to be a long amount of running. She dashed in front of the woman and stopped, probably to the point where the woman would run into her, but Xitlalli wouldn’t mind: it wouldn’t hurt her. “Are you injured?” she asked, head tilted to the side.

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← Xtilalli took her response as a positive thing. For some reason she figured this woman would not be demanding things had she not been at least well enough to speak and stand. But of course she would be rather curious. This day and age, everyone thought about themselves and they were only out to look for their own well-being. This woman most likely thought that she had the situation under control, and Xitlalli knew not if that was really the case. Sighing, Xitlalli stepped back after making sure the woman was stable after running into her—it had nearly knocked the vampire over as well, but she was far more graceful and had been able to steady herself ahead of time.
“Why? Merely because this is my duty. Prior to arriving in Russia I was given the information that someone had been making new vampires. I was charged with discovering and eradicating them. One or two new vampires is manageable by themselves, but as many as you came across and with no one to maintain them. . . . It is not safe for anyone. They would expose vampires with those numbers and their disregard, and we could not allow that possibility,” Xitlalli explained. So long as she didn’t tell this hunter who had hired her to do such a thing, she would not be reprimanded for talking to a human about it. “The reason that I helped you was merely because I am kind and it was inevitable when I had to destroy those vampires.”
It had been a round-about explanation, but at least it was one. The people she worked for had no official authority over the supernatural world, but for some reason they had taken upon themselves to keep order. Xitlalli had no issue with this strange delusion of theirs, as she believed that even the supernatural needed their own authorities. Humans had them, so why shouldn’t the vampires and werecreatures of the world? Xitlalli looked the girl over and then stepped past her before stopping again and turning to look at her. “Do you have enough weapons on you to continue to fight? My job would be done quicker if you were to aid me in their destruction. I would pay you, of course. I have no need for the money they offered me so perhaps you would find more use of it.”

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← Xitlalli was not surprised by the woman’s response. She was a hunter, of course. Her attire and weapons—before this small one she held now—was a dead giveaway for someone who had been around the better half of five hundred years. It was a depressing response either way. Neither of them had met on bad terms, and the vampire hadn’t even done much to hurt her, only help her, no matter how much she might not have needed it in the long run. You could not easily reprogram a human, though.
The vampire bowed her head slightly and sighed. “I do not understand , but you are entitled to your opinion of me, so I accept it. It matters not, really. I can handle them myself. You would be safer to run now, anyway. They are numerous, and you are one human woman with one gun that I can see,” Xitlalli responded, her tone neither condescending nor disappointed. It had been an offer, and it meant little whether or not this woman had accepted. It was neither good nor bad, it simply was. For sure the vampire could have forced her to help, but she believed in free will. Gods could not force a human’s hand without losing their ethics.
Of course, implicitly insulting the woman was not outright forcing her hand. Merely strategically convincing her of a better course. Influencing the situation. . . . That was what gods were supposed to do for their underlings. Bring about situations that helped their children, or hurt the ones that had gone astray and needed punishment. Turning away, Xitlalli started to return to the scene. She could hear the vampires already, shoving through the forest in their direction. If Isi didn’t fight or run, she would taken eventually. “You would perhaps be more of a liability, anyway.”

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← Xitlalli could hear her running after her. The vampire had played to whatever hubris this human had and the results had been what she had expected. Because she had not taken away the woman’s free-will—she could have decided not to bother and run off just as much as she could have gotten upset and run after Xitlalli as she was now—there was no foul play on the vampire’s part. However, though she had gotten the result she had wanted in the first place—taking out a horde of vampires would become incredibly tiresome by herself, even if it was possible, and she was giving this woman a chance to do what she probably did best: kill vampires, and possibly get paid for it if she accepted Xitlalli’s pay. The vampire honestly didn’t see a point in having so much money you didn’t know what to do with it—Xitlalli did not smile.
The woman caught up and then actually surprised Xitlalli a little bit. . . she asked for a weapon. So her initial thoughts of this human having nothing but guns on her had been correct. Perhaps this would be a lesson to her—and if not, Xitlalli would pound it into her head for her. Nodding slightly, Xitlalli pulled a short blade from where it had been hidden down the back of her shirt and held the handle out to the woman. “You would be wise to carry more than those useless guns on you. You cannot beat the precision and longevity of a blade,” Xitlalli scolded before turning toward the mass of vampires that was charging through the trees and bushes. It wouldn’t be long until they were upon them, but Xitlalli showed no interest in matching their charge, instead, she waited patiently where she stood, arms by her sides.

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← A gun? Was this woman really asking Xitlalli if she had a gun, even after the vampire had expressed her dislike for them, called them useless? Xitlalli was beginning to wonder just how smart this woman was after all. However, common sense was not a gift the gods gave to everyone. Tolerance, Alli, tolerance, she told herself. She had to patient with everyone, even the dumb ones.
“I detest guns. As I mentioned before, they are useless in a lengthy fight. I prefer the blade or a bow, so this is all I carry. If you are unhappy with this, you have three options. One, you can set aside your chagrin and fight with the weapon I have provided. Two, you may fight without a weapon and use your own body as a weapon. Three. . . you can return my weapon and leave this fight now. I would not have given you the sword had I not thought you would be capable of defending yourself with just that. If I am incorrect in my faith in you, then please, let me know so that I may fight alone and not have to worry about you.” Oh yes, Isi had just got told, but the entire time Alli was speaking rather matter-of-factly, and not unkindly.
The vampire actually preferred fighting alone anyway so it would mean nothing to her if Isi was to run now except that she would have only herself to worry about and not a second party. Looking back, Xitlalli wondered why she had invited the woman to fight alongside her in the first place. . . . She could have handled the vampires fine by herself. Perhaps she had just been feeling charitable and thought that it could perhaps benefit the woman somehow. Oh well. What was done was done and she couldn’t change it.

XITLALLI → SUMMER HAS COME AND PAST THE INNOCENT CAN NEVER LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN DRENCHED IN MY PAIN AGAIN BECOMING WHO WE ARE ← “We will see,” Xitlalli responded dubiously, unsure of the woman’s skill now. She felt back guns too much, it would seem. Hopefully she knew at least the general idea behind using a sword. . . . Otherwise the fight was going to be over for her rather quickly. However, her saving grace would be the fact that these vampires didn’t know what they were doing. New vampires meant young people pulled off the street. They probably didn’t know the first thing about fighting. Their own advantage was numbers and an intense thirst they wanted to satisfy.
The vampiress waited. . . and then the horde was on them. Xitlalli one launched themselves at her and she took a single step to the side, and the vampire landed next to her. Her hand went up and clenched into a fist and the vampire froze. Another one came at her and she pulled her hand across her body and the vampire next to her lurched forward, ending up being tackled instead. With a lull in her own fight as the two vampires tried to untangle themselves and Xitlalli pulled another sword from her back, the twin to the one Isi was using. She lifted the blade and wished that she had a larger source of water around, but she would make do with the melting snow and the plants around her if she needed it.
The two vampires were up and after her, and with a wide arc of her arm, she had both of their throats oozing blood. The stumbled backwards, but it wasn’t enough to kill them. However. . . blood was nearly seventy percent water. Now that it was exposed and flowing freely, she had full reign over it. She clenched her fist and pulled her hand back, and more blood flowed forth from their wounds and the vampires gagged, coughing and spluttering even more blood as they began to exsanguinate at a faster pace than before. Xitlalli acted as they fell to their knees and with another swift movement, their heads were off.
Her swords were specially designed to withstand the strength of the immortal behind them, provided by her employers. The silver laced throughout the blade made it easier to kill, but harder to maintain without the use of gloves. At least it didn’t dull as fast as regular swords made from steel. Xitlalli turned her head slightly to look at how her human charge was doing, and she seemed to be faring alright against the vampires. She turned back to the fight and slashed wildly at a vampire that had gotten to close, splitting his stomach open and turning with another wide arc, and an arm dropped to the ground. There were more coming, and they were slowly starting to recover from the frozen prison they had been in for a little while.
