CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← “Well they tell me this is nothing like being on a normal flight. . . i dunno if that's good or bad though . . . this being my first flight and all,” Agito commented. Carmen had to wait to reply, though, as he was claiming her lips again, arms around her. She didn’t complain, though, and soon enough he was pulling away from her and she was able to reply to his comment. “So far it’s a lot more roomier than the flights I’ve been on. I’m sure that with the right distraction I probably wouldn’t even know I was on a plane,” she replied with a small smile. Was it a hint? An innuendo? You could never really tell with Carmen but it was up to Agito to interpret it however he saw fit. However, he was up now, looking out the window. Carmen sighed—with a bit of irritation—and rolled onto her back, looking up at the ceiling. The plane gave a mild shudder and Carmen closed her eyes and shook her head.
Agito was back at the bed with her, lying across her and playing with her hair. Carmen absently returned the gesture, running her fingers through his long hair. “I know that you don't need protecting. . . . I've worked hard to make sure that you don't, but that doesn't mean that I won't protect you anyway,” he said. Carmen looked down at him and sighed. Why hadn’t she expected that from him? Reaching down with her hands, Carmen tried to drag Agito up to her level and hold him close. “I’m not used it, Agito. It’s always just been me looking out for myself. I just don’t know what to think of it, and my default response is anger,” she replied, shrugging her shoulders. It was her response to everything: anger and hate. She didn’t fear, and therefore she hated. There wasn’t much else to do. She could respond in a happy “Oh it’ll be okay” manner, but that wasn’t how she ended up being raised. She was raised in fairly good environments, but the constant shuffling wasn’t good on her.

Agito adjusted himself so that Carmen could wrap her arms around him as he listened to her explanation. It seemed about right; her responding in anger anyways. Agito smirked at her. He liked the rare occasion that she opened up to him. It reassured him that he was slowly but surely making his way past her tough exterior. "You'll get used to it" he responded; his smirk morphing into a beaming smile. Agito leaned forward, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Then he just lay there gazing into her eyes. To most people this moment would probably be defined as awkward silence. For Agito however this was fine. Nothing unnecessary needed to be said. Right now for the moment everything was perfect. It most likely would change the mood quite a bit the next time one of them said something, because that usually how it worked. Not having Carmen angry was something he had come to enjoy, like dessert after a meal or a glass of water after a trek through a desert. A calm happy Carmen was refreshing indeed.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← Agito informed her that she would get used to it, and Carmen just smiled and rolled her eyes. “Well we’ll see,” she responded before Agito kissed her forehead. This engendered another smile from the usually stoic female and she tightened her grip around him in an affectionate hug. She had changed so much after being with his boy. Of course, he had her moments of relapse where she got angry and sulked around or said unkind things, but that was who Agito had fallen for in the first place, wasn’t it? So she was a little more happy when she was around him. He was the first person who had been able to successfully break through her shell. He didn’t even mind how they lied there, just staring at each other. It was sickeningly lovey-dovey, but neither of them seemed to care in the least. Smiling, Carmen closed her eyes and settling into the bed, her arms still around Agito in a cuddle. She didn’t know what time it was, but she didn’t care and figured they were on a plane. She could sleep as much as she wanted to.

( WISE MEN WONDER WHILE STRONG MEN DIE )show me how defenseless you really are With a smile Agito adjusted himself until he was comfortable on the soft bed, and of course in Carmen's arms. He had never been a fan of beds probably because he'd never had one before he made his way to the US. He still rather sleep in his usual position, but sleeping that way usually meant that he wouldn't be in physical contact with Carmen. He had come to like his contact with her after all. Agito watched as the window began to slowly darken. It was UV reactant. So as the sun rose it darkened to protect it's inhabitants from the deadly rays of light. The hadn't been flying very long a few hours at the most, but they were flying east so it made it same like the day came much quicker than it would have had they been idling in New York. "Seems the Sun is rising....we should arrive by the time we wake" He stated before snuggling in a bit closer to Carmen and closing his eyes. He wasn't particularly tired. The accelerated day had him feeling a bit strange, but once the sun was up his body would snap into its regular mode, and put him out til it was dark again. There was no point in fighting it. It was just...nature.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← The two seemed perfectly content to just lie there with each other, Carmen’s arms around him. She nuzzled against his neck slightly and sighed with content. She had never been this happy before. Carmen had always just been coasting through life, doing whatever she could to get rid of the anger that had just remained pent up inside her. She’d play chess with the elderly in Central Park for the intellectual challenge—none of the people at school were ever as smart as her and she was outcasted for it, even though she was pretty and athletic. Of course, her attitude didn’t really help all that much. Not everyone was as patient as Agito was. Not everyone could handle being punched in the neck for saying something wrong. Agito, however, lucked out. Carmen normally waited to hit him when they were sparring.
Finally the sun seemed to be coming up. That meant she had a reason to go to sleep and stay like that until the plane ride was over and she was in Tokyo. At least this wasn’t a layover flight. . . . Then she would be even more pissed. Though that wouldn’t be smart since they were vampires. They’d have to find some dark room to stay in and catch a Red Eye flight. God Carmen hated flying. “Seems the Sun is rising. . . we should arrive by the time we wake,” Agito said. Carmen sighed happily and lifted her hand to rub her brow. “Well that’s good. I don’t know what I’d do if I was trapped on this thing for more than I needed to be. It’s just so stuffy and annoying,” she muttered quietly, parting her lips slightly so that her canines brushed lightly across his neck.

( WISE MEN WONDER WHILE STRONG MEN DIE )show me how defenseless you really are The feeling of Carmen’s fangs brushing against his neck caused a small shiver to travel down Agito’s spine. With a mischievous grin Agito gently places his index finger under her chin raising it so that their lips touch once more. After the kiss he lay there and gazed into her eyes. He wasn’t exactly sure when he had fallen for this girl. At first she was simply a tool to be used. Then somehow his opinion of her changed. When did he who never believed anyone his equal; begin considering her as such. It was all moot at this point. All he knew that was she was what he wanted. Even more than his thirst for knowledge, and power, were his feeling towards her."I care greatly for you… perhaps this is what the humans refer to as love?"He both stated and asked in the same breath. Agito stole one more, brief kiss before pulling Carmen tightly against him, and closing his eyes again. It would be another half a day before they were in Tokyo then it was another few hours into the mountains to get to where his village used is. Once he got what he was going for then Carmen could sight see in Tokyo until it was time for them to leave.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← Carmen smiled slyly as Agito pulled her away from his neck so he could kiss her, and she happily returned his kiss, holding him just as tightly as he held her, returning his gaze without wavering. Whatever sway this man held over her, she was slowly starting to just accept it. This had happened, she had found someone she could connect with and possibly love, and it was good for her. She was happier now—much happier. Carmen smiled more and she wasn’t always in a bad mood when she was around him. It was just without him that she reverted—though not entirely.
“I care greatly for you. . . perhaps this is what the humans refer to as love?” she heard him say. Her gaze hardened with curiosity and she tilted her head to the side. Was this his way of telling her that he loved her? The way he said it was most curious, though. Not in a bad way.
She gave a slight smile and returned his quick little kiss. “Vampires can feel such emotions? And here I thought you were all just power-hungry blood suckers,” she replied sarcastically before following his lead and closing her own eyes, snuggling against him. This alone was helping her to forget that she was on one of those stupid planes, and she figured that things wouldn’t be so bad with him there. Her arms tightened around them a little more than was necessary—she was still a little unused to her strength and she lacked the fear necessary to keep from overexerting herself and breaking ribs when she hugged someone. Luckily Agito was more durable than most humans.

( WISE MEN WONDER WHILE STRONG MEN DIE )show me how defenseless you really are Agito smirked as she snuggled in closer to him. She gripped him tightly with enough force that a normal human would shatter. Agito however wasn't human and would take a lot more than an overly tight hug to break. His smirk turned into a smile as he thought about how far their relationship had come. Neither of them had been the snuggling type in the past. Agito, and Carmen were very alike because of that they were probably able to neutralize the negative points of both their personalities. A hearty chuckle escaped his lips at Carmen's comment. "Heh I like that still talking as if your not one of us power hungry blood suckers" he teased in response. Before giving her a final peck on the lips and closing his eyes again. This time he didn't intend to open them again until they had reached their destination. Agito sighed contently as he placed a hand palm first against Carmen's chest, imagining the feel of her heart beating. He wished that he could have felt it just once.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← Just as she thought, Agito was fine, so she continued to hold him just as tightly, even through his comment. “Heh I like that still talking as if you’re not one of us power hungry blood suckers,” he pointed out teasingly before giving her another quick kiss. Carmen was disappointed that it didn’t last long, and then he closed eyes. That was probably his hint telling her that he wanted to sleep. Well, she could begrudge him his sleep for now. They had all the time in the world to spend together. A few hours of sleep here and there was forgivable—especially when she herself liked to sleep.
Sighing, Carmen remained alert for a few more seconds, staring out the darkened window. She could barely see anything out of it now—they had gone through a cloud, and with the dark tinting, visibility was a minimum. “I might have to live off of blood, but I’m not particularly power-hungry,” she whispered, unsure if Agito had fallen asleep already and uncaring to whether or not he responded. Mostly she was talking to herself. “It doesn’t matter. Sleep well, Agito-kun,” she continued, closing her eyes as well. She didn’t exactly hide it that she thought herself better than a regular vampire.
A few seconds into trying to fall asleep, she felt Agito’s palm against her chest. She resisted the reflex to toss him out that window and ended up just getting tense for a few seconds before she realized that it wasn’t an attempt to feel her up—something that really wouldn’t be that bad, she was just used to it being malicious and it was all reflex now—and she relaxed again, closing her eyes and shifting until she was comfortable. Carmen wasn’t really sure what Agito was trying to accomplish like that, but she dealt with it and lied there with the boy that stolen her heart.
It didn’t take long for Carmen to fall asleep. This was the first real time the two of them had slept in the same bed with each other, and she made a mental note to do it more often, whether or not Agito liked it. She found a strange comfort in his arms, like she didn’t have to have those walls up when she was with him. For once, Carmen actually trusted a person. Just because she didn’t recognize fear as an emotion didn’t mean she didn’t know what it meant to be cautious. Around Agito. . . she didn’t think she had to be.

( WISE MEN WONDER WHILE STRONG MEN DIE )show me how defenseless you really are Boom! boom! boom! A series of loud knocks on the room of the door woke Agito from his sleep. He instinctively reached for his sword only to find Carmen in his arms. He remembered where they were and relaxed a little. "Sir...Miss. We've been in Tokyo for just under three hours, the sun has just set it is safe for you to go outside" a female voice called before the sound of her footsteps grew farther away from the door. Agito gazed at Carmen for a moment. She was still sleeping so he gently got up and made his way over to the window. The tint had faded, and he could clearly see the bright neon lit city of Tokyo. Agito walked over to the coat rack, and grabbed his jacket tossing it on. He strapped his sword behind his lower back rather than the traditional side, or across the shoulder style. "Carmen-chan, It's time to wake up." He called to her before leaving the room. He wanted to give her some privacy in case she wanted to get changed. Agito stood outside the door, and waited. "theirs a car out front for you. Keys in the ignition" he called to Agito who nodded in response.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← Carmen twitched in her sleep, her brow furrowed. Her teeth ground lightly as she dreamt of something—not even the knock on the door woke her, it merely transferred into her dream. It was nothing major, it was merely her running through an alley, trying to save someone. They were familiar—but a dream familiar. Hard to distinguish what they looked like, but you knew who they were anyway. Before she could make it to the person in order to save them, a soft voice roused her from her sleep—and the absence of something that had been in her arms a moment ago.
Slowly, the young vampire opened her eyes and looked around. They were no longer in the air—there was a change in air pressure she hadn’t noticed before. Agito was up and informed her that they had arrived, and then left. Carmen sat up slowly, pushing herself up on her arms, and looked around. Did she want to change? Yawning, Carmen swung her legs over the comfortable bed and stood, stretching. Her joins popped in several places and the youth sighed with content before pulling out the one bag she had brought with her and rummaging through the few items of clothing she had brought before stripping what she was wearing and changing into fresh clothes that weren’t wrinkled from sleeping in them. Not that she really cared.
Once situated, Carmen grabbed her sword and strapped it across her shoulders before leaving. There was a werewolf waiting in the aisle for her and rather than say anything, Carmen gave her an expectant look. For a few seconds they stared at each other, then the werewolf lady smiled and motioned toward the exit, saying that Agito was waiting for her by the car. Nodding curtly, Carmen brushed past her with a quiet thanks before leaving the plane and spotting Agito right where the stewardess said he would be. Still groggy and a tiny bit irritable from waking up, she headed for him.
“Do you even know how to drive?” she asked him, noticing the fact that there wasn’t a driver in the car even though it was idling there in the lot.

( WISE MEN WONDER WHILE STRONG MEN DIE )show me how defenseless you really are After a few minutes Carmen finally emerged from the plane. Agito smiled broadly at her as she approached. He gave her a friendly wave as he took a few steps forward to greet her. Carmen asked if he even knew how to drive. Agito smirked at her"The simple answer to that would be no....but I'm sure you do....right? There were no cars where I come from....don't tell me you cant either?" Agito asked with a slight look of concern on his face. If it was the case that Carmen couldn't drive either then he'd have to learn by doing and just figure it out as they went/ They were immortal after all so something as trivial as a car crash was not something to be worried about. Agito waited intently for Carmen to respond. The wolves seemed curious to know as well as they watched the exchange silently for the moment.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← Agito smiled and waved once Carmen reached the tarmac and her mood dissipated almost instantly. It was as if his smile was contagious. She returned his smile and then lifted her hand to wave back. . . then realized she looked ridiculous and put her hand back down. The result was a sort of half-wave, but it was better than nothing, probably.
Taking one large step off of the plane, she skipped the last four steps and continued walking with a graceful ease, one hand in her pocket and the other holding the bag she had brought with her. She was wearing a long-sleeve shirt, but the sleeves were rolled up to her elbows. The cold didn’t bother her and it was more comfortable for her to have her sleeves rolled up when she wasn’t wearing a jacket. “The simple answer to that would be no. . . but I'm sure you do. . . right? There were no cars where I come from. . .don't tell me you can’t either?” he replied once she was closer.
Carmen stopped and cocked an eyebrow. Of course not. She had seen that coming. Sighing, it didn’t answer right away. Instead, she went around to the back and tossed her personal belongings in the trunk with everything else and then closed the trunk before walking over to the driver’s side. It looked like an automatic car. That wasn’t going to be any sort of issue. A manual car would have been manageable, but it would have taken some trial and error.
Pulling the door open, Carmen said “I don’t have a license,” and then sat down, closing the door behind her. She habitually put on the seatbelt and looked the dashboard over, as well as the area around the steering wheel in order to adjust her side mirrors and become acquainted with how the windshield wipers worked just in case it rained or something. Then she adjusted her rearview mirror and looked over at the passenger’s side, waiting for Agito to get in. Just because she didn’t have her license didn’t mean she could drive. “Well, buckle up. I don’t particularly feel like being pulled over without a license, so I’m going to play it safe. . . . I hate cops. Always getting in my way.”

( WISE MEN WONDER WHILE STRONG MEN DIE )show me how defenseless you really are Agito opened the door removing his sword from his back. He sat down in the seat, and placed his sword between his legs before mimicking Carmen fastening his seat belt. Agito watched curiously as Carmen fiddled with switches, and adjusted mirrors and the like. She said something about not having a license. Agito wondered if that meant that here experience was driving was give or take the same as his. He closed the door finally, and waited for the vehicle to start moving. The GPS was had already been programmed with their destination compliments of the Captain. He was a very knowledgeable individual much like Agito. He knew things that fewer than a couple other people on the planet knew. It was this sort of information that was worth more than money. Information that could change life as humans knew it forever if they caught whiff of it. This was the sort of thing they bartered with."I know I'm immortal....but I saw some car crashes on TV.....I do still feel pain even if it doesn't kill me...so.....one piece lets get there in one piece okay?" Agito stated mostly teasing, but there was a tad bit of worry. A car wreck would draw attention. Immortals drawing attention was never a good thing.

CARMEN LYNN SYKES → WHAT HAPPENED TO MISS INDEPENDENT'S NO LONGER NEED TO BE DEFENSIVEMISS INDEPENDENT MISS SELF-SUFFICIENT MISS KEEP YOUR DISTANCE MISS UNAFRAID ← “I know I'm immortal. . . but I saw some car crashes on TV. . . . I do still feel pain even if it doesn't kill me. . . so. . . one piece let’s get there in one piece okay?” Agito requested once he was inside the car. Carmen’s own sword was tucked in the back, leaning against the gap between front seats so she could reach it.
Turning her head, Carmen gave her companion a reproachful glare and then shook her head before checking the GPS and then putting the car into drive. “I said I didn’t have a license, not that I didn’t know how to drive,” she replied smartly, a smirk on her lips as she pulled forward and flipped the car around to get to the exit. The GPS barked orders at her and she followed them easily. She had never gotten around to getting her license because she walked everywhere and was always hopping from place to place, but she had always made an effort to learn to drive.
“How long of a drive is it going to be? I hate getting gas,” she asked after a while. Leaning forward, she turned the radio on while keeping track of the road in front of her and turned it down so that it was just background noise to help her concentrate and to fill the silence between their conversations. The two had never been in a car together, and she found it hard to believe that Agito was going to sit still for too long.
